Overview
VIVOTEK FD8177/8179-H is a stylish-design 4-Megapixel IR fixed dome camera for indoor
applications. Equipped with a 4MP sensor, the camera offers up to 30 fps at 2688x1520 with
superb image quality. Featuring the WDR Pro technology and a 2.8 ~ 12 mm vari-focal lens, the
FD8177-H provides clear and accurate video under high contrast environments.
With VIVOTEK’s sophisticated Smart Stream II technology, the FD8177/8179-H do optimize image
quality for desired regions, and thus ensure maximum efciency of bandwidth usage and savings
of up to 50% on bandwidth and storage requirements.

VIVOTEK’s FD8377/8379-HV is an outdoor-ready IR fixed dome camera with a 4-Megapixel
sensor offering a high resolution of 2688x1520 at 30 fps. Equipped with WDR Pro technology and
a xed 2.8 mm lens, the FD8379-HV provides improved visibility and top-notch quality video in high
contrast environments.
Being suitable for challenging outdoor lighting conditions, the FD8377/8379-HV features a
removable IR-cut lter as well as IR illuminators effective up to 30 meters for superior image quality
around the clock. For protection against harsh outdoor environments, the FD8379-HV is armed
with a robust IP66- and IK10-rated housing to withstand rain and dust as well as to protect against
vandalism or tampering.
By adopting with VIVOTEK’s sophisticated Smart Stream II technology, the FD8377/8379-HV can
optimize image quality for desired regions, and thus ensure maximum efficiency of bandwidth
usage and savings of up to 50% on bandwidth and storage requirements.

Read Before Use
The use of surveillance devices may be prohibited by law in your country. The Network Camera
is not only a high-performance web-ready camera but can also be part of a exible surveillance
system. It is the user’s responsibility to ensure that the operation of such devices is legal before
installing this unit for its intended use.
It is important to first verify that all contents received are complete according to the Package
Contents listed below. Take note of the warnings in the Quick Installation Guide before the Network
Camera is installed; then carefully read and follow the instructions in the Installation chapter to
avoid damage due to faulty assembly and installation. This also ensures the product is used
properly as intended.
The Network Camera is a network device and its use should be straightforward for those who
have basic networking knowledge. It is designed for various applications including video sharing,
general security/surveillance, etc. The Configuration chapter suggests ways to best utilize the
Network Camera and ensure proper operations. For creative and professional developers, the URL

Many copper coated aluminum (CCA) and other non-standard conductors cabling products
are masqueraded as CAT5E or CAT6 cables. Please avoid using these CCA products
especially when cascading PoE cameras. It is a must to use Ethernet cables compliant
with the 3P/ETL standard.

4. With anchors into the wall, drive screws into the mounting holes. Mount the camera by
passing screws through the key slot holes and turn clockwise.
3. Drill holes for mounting screws and a cabling hole if applicable. Pull a CAT5e Ethernet
cable through the hole.

5. Connect an Ehternet cable to the RJ45.port. This camera is powered by a PoE device.
Install the IW2 utility and use it to locate the camera and start a web console.
6. With a live view on screen, use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the retention screws
on the camera bracket and adjust the camera's shooting angle and direction. Turn the
camera lens towards the eld of view of your interest.

7. For the FD8177-H, you need to adjust the camera's zoom and focus using the
associated pullers.
8. Install the dome cover by aligning the side routing lid with the crescent cutout.

3. Disassemble the waterproof connector.
4. Pass an Ethernet cable through the components, including the rubber seal.
5. Use a crimping tool to attach an RJ45 connector to the Ethernet wires.
6. Install the waterproof connector and connect the RJ45 connector.

7. Use the included mounting template to drill monting holes on ceiling or wall. If preferred,
drill a cabling hole. Hammer in the plastic anchors.
8 Secure the camera using the included screws through the key slot holes.

9. Install the "Installation Wizard 2" software utility. The utility can be downloaded from
www.vivotek.com
10. The program will search for VIVOTEK Video Receivers, Video Servers or Network
Cameras on the same LAN.
11. Double-click on the camera's MAC address to open a browser management session
with the camera.
12. With a live view displayed on your laptop, adjust the shooting angle and direction to
obtain the optimal eld of view.

14. Replace the desiccant bag inside the dome cover and then secure the dome cover.

Hardware Reset
The reset button is used to reset the system or restore the factory default settings.
Sometimes resetting the system can return the camera to normal operation. If the system
problems remain after reset, restore the factory settings and install again.
Reset: Press the recessed reset button. Wait for the Network Camera to reboot.
Restore: Press and hold the reset button until the status LED rapidly blinks. Note that all
settings will be restored to factory default. Upon successful restore, the status LED will
blink green and red during normal operation.
SD/SDHC/SDXC Card Capacity
This network camera is compliant with SD/SDHC/SDXC 16GB / 8GB / 32GB / 64GB and
other preceding standard SD cards.

Network Deployment
General Connection (PoE)
When using a PoE-enabled switch
The Network Camera is PoE-compliant, allowing transmission of power and data via a sin-
gle Ethernet cable. Follow the below illustration to connect the Network Camera to a PoE-
enabled switch via Ethernet cable.
When using a non-PoE switch
Use a PoE power injector (optional) to connect between the Network Camera and a non-
PoE switch.
NOTE:
1. The camera is only to be connected to PoE networks without routing to outside plants.
2. For PoE connection, use only UL listed I.T.E. with PoE output.
3. The PoE device should comply with the IEC TR 62101 standard.
