1. Start the device through the main switch (1)
2. Adjust the sharpness of the LEICA microscope by turning the knurling wheel (12)
3. Choose the appropriate magnification zoom with the knurling wheel (13), the 1.0 position is recommended.
4. The intensity of the LED ring lighting can be adjusted using the knurling wheel (14) located at the rear of the
device.
5. Select the wanted working temperature by pressing succesively on the TEMP contactor (2). The value
increases in a loop by increments of 5°, from 70° to 125° C.
Two working temperatures are recommended :
75°C for pallet-stones with traditional shellac
120°C for pallet-stones with traditional shellac
The preset temperature is displayed in the top left of the LCD (9), the instant temperature in the top right.
6. A setting temperature time of about 25 min. must be respected; the LED indicator (17) becomes GREEN
when the temperature is reached.
7. Push back the clamping roller (3) so that the clamping support (4) is lifted.
WARNING! Never handle the eccentric lever (5) for clamping the liftings when the clamping support (4) is
in the lower position.
8. Open the the clamp with the excentered lever (5)
9. Place the pallet-stone (dart side above) by inserting the lifting to adjust in the gripper (18) and press it against
the stop (6) located between the two jaws.
This stop must be adjusted so as to respect an interspace of ~0.1 mm between the body of the pallet-
stone and the tip of gripper. To do this, the device must be cold.
a) Position the pallet-stone and watch its position
b) Unlock the screw (7) with a 1.5 mm Allen key
c) Move the stop (6) in the wanted position
d) Tighten the screw (7)
10. Close the clamp using the excentered lever (5)
The clamping force for the lifting gripper can be adjusted by turning the adjustment screw (8) with
a 2.5mm Allen key. = increasing the strength and = decreasing the strength.
0.1mm

11. Bring the digital display (9) to 0 using the knurling wheel for the carriage skip (10)
12. Secure the pallet-stone by gently bringing the clamping roller (3) frontwards, until the stop. It is better
to do this by using both your hands.
The blocking force for the pallet-stone can be adjusted by screwing () or unscrewing () the adjustment
screw (11) located on the rear side of the mechanical block of the Echappemètre.
13. Move the lifting in the wanted value by turning the knurling wheel of the carriage skip (10) The value of the
displacement value can be read on the digital display (9). It is advisable to go 2 - 3 µm beyond the desired
value and go back, in order to avoid the spring effect of the glue.
14. Unlock the pallet-stone gently pushing the clamping roller (3) backwards.
15. Open the chuck for the liftings with the excentered lever.
16. Carefully remove the pallet-stone.
If, during handling, you drop your pallet-stone in within the Echappemètre VOH - IV, you can retrieve it by
