Introduction / Safety
‣Ensure your amplifier is suitable for driving 8 ohm
speakers. If unknown consult your amplifier user
manual.
‣Set output volume on amplifier to minimum before
connecting the speakers.
‣Ensure the output power to the speakers does not
exceed 65 watts per channel.

Connection to Amplifier
The Voll B50 is equipped with
female banana plug binding
posts. These accept standard
4mm banana plugs or stripped
wire of up to 3mm in diameter.
Speaker cable insulation should
be stripped to approximately
15mm.

Tip: When inserting wire into the
binding post ensure that there is
no wire insulation between the
fastening nut and the binding
post as this will prevent the wire
from making a good connection.

Optimisation/Performance
For optimum performance please consider the
following recommendations:!
‣Use speaker wire with core of at least 1mm2
(17AWG).!
‣The speakers should be positioned (on stands or
similar) such that the mid-point between the woofer
and the tweeter is at the same height as the listener’s
ears. If this is not practical for desk use you may use
a monitor isolation wedge to tilt the speaker upward.!
‣Speakers should face straight ahead, or angled
slightly towards the listener.!
‣The distance between the speakers should be less than the distance of the speakers from the
listener and the listener should be an equal distance from each speaker.!
‣For best sound quality operate with speaker grilles removed.

My speakers are not
producing any sound
Incorrect wiring
Check the diagram on the other side and ensure that the
terminals are making a proper connection
No output from
amplifier
See the setup guide for your amplifier. You can check that your
amplifier is outputting a signal by connecting another pair of
speakers.
No valid input into
amplifier
Check your connection from your audio source, and ensure
that the volume control on the audio source is not too low.
My speakers sound
distorted.
Insufficient or
incorrect amplifier
Check that the amplifier is suitable for 8-ohm loads and that it
has sufficient power to drive the speakers
I can hear crackling
Loose connection /
wiring issue
Double check all connections
Issue with amplifier
Test the speakers on another amplifier, or alternatively, test
your amplifier with other speakers
Issue with audio
source
Check the signal between the audio source and the amplifier.
Check that the volume of the audio source is set to mid-range.
The speakers are too
quiet
Check amplifier
input and output
Check the output volume of the amplifier. Alternatively, check
the input source to the amplifier.
