1. Description
VI-6621 intelligent optical smoke detector(called the detector for short)can utilizing the
excellent MCU with algorithm program, is able to compensate the variation of environment
parameters and confirm the fire alarm. The detector is suitable for different kinds of commercial
applications, such as hotel, restaurant, data-center, bank, shopping mall, warehouse, library,
museum, office and places with heavy moistures among the air. Moreover, the detector is also
applicable for places where black smokes occurred during a fire.
2. Features
1) Self-compensation: The detector can compensate variation of external environment
(temperature, humidity, dust, static) to a certain degree to enhance the reliability.
2) The detector can accurately detect the chronic fire happened in 24 hours.
3) Built-in ID address of the detector.
4) Intelligent algorithm and judgment, warning reminder for dirty and cleaning.
5) Filter designed in both software and hardware, enhance the ability of anti-interference to the
detector.
6) Two-wire loop, non-polarized.
7) Utilizing electronic addressing, makes programming more flexible, simple and user-friendly.
8) There are two responding modes available, which is so called algorithm.
Mode1: Fast response. In this mode, it generates alarm immediately when smoke intensity
exceeds alarm threshold value three times continuously. This mode applies for system
commissioning or testing state.
Mode2: Intelligent response. It can judge fire signals correctly and reduce false alarms. This
mode is set as default when it is delivered.

4. Structure and Operation Principle
1) Dimension of the detector is shown in Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 separately.

2) Operation Principles
The detector uses infrared scattered light to detect fire. There are two tubes inside the black
chamber, IR emitting tube and IR receiving diode. In non-smoking environment, the IR receiving
diode rarely receives signals. Smoke will enter the chamber when there is fire. Because of
scattering, the IR receiving tube can receive a weak signal which will be amplified by 200 – 400
times. Then contact circuit will calculate the value, if the value reaches the alarm threshold, the
fire message will be reported to the control panel to generate fire alarm.
5. Installation and Cabling
Warning: Please disconnect the loop power and verify all the detectors are fixed securely
before installing the detector.
1) Mounting
Mounting of the detector is shown in Fig. 3.

Back box is standard 86H50 box. The detector can be installed onto the base as align the
bottom to the base when installing.

2) Wiring Requirement
RVS-2*1.0 mm2or1.5 mm2wire for LOOP, laid through metal tube (cable sink) or PVC tube.
3) Connection Description
Connection is shown in Fig.4.

6. Operation
Address Programming: Using VI-6531 Handheld Programmer can program address of the
device in field. When programming, first connect two alligator clips of the hand held programmer
to the loop-ports of the detector; second, switch on power of the programmer and enter address
(address should be from 0 to 255. The device connected to the same loop has unique address).
Third, press Program. Programming is successful if the address which you wrote appears on the
left of the display. Otherwise, the programming is failed.

steps and description.
7. Handling and Storage
The euqipment should be packed well when it is transported, handled and stocked. Loading
and Unloading gently to avoid any collision. The environment of storage should be dry and
ventilate. Do not expose it in an open area.
8. Cautions
1) After installation, please keep the dust-cover on, until complete of commissioning test or
project inspection, so as to avoid any contamination occurred.
2) If the detector gives fault warning after a long operation, first check if the detector are
damaged, or the position is changed. Then check if there is lots of dust, or
over-compensated because basic value is deviated a lot. Afterwards, other faults should be
considered.
3) When the intelligent control panel informs that the detector should be cleaned, please send
that detector back to local authorized distributor or our company to avoid false alarm and
unnecessary losses.
4) The duty person should be trained to properly operate the device, and disoperation is not
allowed.
5) The detector is fire protection product, so the duty and shift rules should be carried out and
made the record carefully.

6) A routine functional test should be conducted every 6 months when the detector is operating
on.
7) Please put on the dust cover if the room is under decoration or wall-painted to avoid
contamination.
