VUELTA & ZEROLITE WHEELSET OWNER’S MANUAL
1.
BEFORE YOU START
Congratulations! You have just purchased
the best bicycle wheels available. Vuelta is
a worldwide brand recognized for quality,
value and performance enjoyed by elite ath-
letes and enthusiasts alike. Years of experi-
ence have gone into the design, engineering
and manufacture of every Vuelta product,
especially when it comes to our wheels.
The quality of every Vuelta and ZeroLite
wheel made in our factory depends upon the
skill and knowledge of our wheel-building
specialists and an elite quality-control team
that uses the best equipment available. Each
wheel is hand assembled, after which it is
then tensioned, de-stressed and checked
by hand six times. Finished wheels are
inspected three times by an actual human
being – because we believe that machines
just aren’t good enough when it comes to
building great wheels.
IMPORTANT PRODUCT INFORMATION
Your new Vuelta or ZeroLite wheels are
designed to install on the bicycle they
are intended to t. However, we cannot
anticipate all possible model features for all
bicycles; see your bicycle owner’s manual
or Independent Bicycle Dealer to check the
compatibility of Vuelta or ZeroLite wheels
with your make and model bicycle.
This manual contains important safety,
performance and service information. Read
it before you take the rst ride on your new
wheels, and keep it for reference. Pay at-
tention to all Cautions and Warnings in this
manual, which are indicated with .

VUELTA & ZEROLITE WHEELSET OWNER’S MANUAL
ATTACHING YOUR WHEELS
Vuelta and ZeroLite road, mountain bike and
track wheels are attached in one of three ways
in the dropouts on a bicycle’s forks and frame:
1. ROAD/MTB QUICK RELEASES
A hollow axle with a shaft (skewer) running
through it which has an adjustable tension
nut on one end and an over-center cam on
the other is called a quick release or QR.
When closing a QR lever, it should leave a
light impression on the palm of your hand.
If QR is too tight, it can overload the wheel
bearings. Loosen the adjustment nut on end
of QR as needed and close lever.
Remove QRs once a month for inspec-
tion. Clean any road or trail debris that can
cause the QR to bind where the lever moves
against the retainer bushing. After cleaning,
apply a small amount of lube between the
lever and bushing before reinstallation.
2. ALL MOUNTAIN MTB
QUICK-CHANGE AXLES
Vuelta All Mountain MTB Wheels feature a
quick-change front hub and 12 mm rear axle.
Depending on your bike model, the front
wheel can be converted quickly with supplied
accessory parts to use a 9 mm QR skewer;
the 15 mm axle and 20 mm Thru Axle are
tightened with a hex key on the forks.
Remove skewer inserts and install supplied
inserts to use 15 mm axle. No inserts are
needed if your bike has forks with a Thru
Axle. See your bicycle owner’s manual to
determine correct wheel setup.

The 12 mm rear axle is secured with a
socket bolt at both ends. Use a hex key to
loosen the non-drive side bolt, then remove
axle from drive side. See your bicycle
owner’s manual for installation and setup
instructions.
3. TRACK WHEELS
Hex nuts which are threaded onto the hub
axle and tightened or loosened with a wrench.
WARNING: Never ride your bike if
wheels, axles or QRs are loose or levers
are in open position. Never use a skewer
with missing springs, bent or broken skewer
shaft, or broken or non-working lever.

TIRE MOUNTING/TIRE PRESSURE
All Vuelta and ZeroLite road, MTB and track
wheels are designed to use conventional
tires and tubes. Non-metallic tire levers
designed for bicycle use are recommended,
especially Vuelta Corsa Carbon wheels.
CAUTION: Using metal levers, screw-
drivers or similar tools can damage the
tire and tube, and/or the wheel and its nish,
or cause a at or blowout while riding.
All Vuelta and ZeroLite wheel models use
Presta valve tubes. All Vuelta Corsa Carbon
50 model wheels require Presta valves of
sufcient length, or valve extensions, to
enable service.

TIRE SELECTION
All Vuelta and ZeroLite road and track
clincher wheels are size 700C and use ISO
622 tires. Vuelta MTB wheels come in two
sizes – 26” that use ISO 559 tires, and 29”
(700C) that use ISO 622 tires. ZeroLite
MTB wheels are 26” only. See information
stamped or printed on sidewalls of your tires
to make sure they t your wheels.
Visit your Independent Bicycle Dealer or see
your bicycle owner’s manual for recom-
mended tire width. Installing wide tires may
interfere with handling and operation of your
bike and also the function and performance
of the wheels, which may result in an ac-
cident.
Before installing tires or tubes on your
wheels, inspect them for any damage such
as tears, punctures, cuts in the tread or
sidewall. For clincher tires, inspect the inside
for debris that can cause a at or blowout.
TUBULAR TIRES
Only Vuelta Corsa Carbon 50T and Corsa
SuperLite Tubular model wheels use tubular,
or sewup, tires. See your Independent
Bicycle Dealer for further information in
selection, preparation, installation and care
of tubular tires.
CAUTION – Use only sewup glue manu-
factured specically for use with tubular
wheels and tires. Do not use 3M Fast Tack

Vuelta tubular wheel – this voids the Vuelta
Limited Wheel Warranty.
CASSETTE INSTALLATION
AND REMOVAL
All Vuelta and ZeroLite road and MTB model
wheels are compatible with 9-speed Shi-
mano- and SRAM-type cassettes. Compat-
ibility with 10/11-speed Campagnolo-type
cassettes is an available option for Vuelta
road wheels – except for Corsa/Corsa Pro/
Corsa HD. All ZeroLite road wheels are
compatible with Shimano-type 10-speed
cassettes. Read the cassette manufacturer’s
instructions for specic preparation and
installation information.
A 4.5 – 5 mm spacer is required if using a
7- or 8-speed Shimano cassette. A 1 mm
spacer is required if using a 10-speed Shi-
mano cassette.
Use compatible cassette lockring tool for
installation and removal; tighten to manufac-
turer’s specications. Use a chain whip to
hold cassette during removal.
BRAKE PADS USE & ADJUSTMENT
If using rim brakes, brake pads should be
centered with braking surface of rim. Adjust
brakes with wheel installed on bike. Pads
should not be more than 1 mm from top of
rim and not contact or rub wheel graphics
or tires, which can cause brake failure or
accident. Read the brake manufacturer’s
instructions regarding brake system use and
adjustment.
DISC BRAKES
Read your bicycle owner’s manual or the
disc brake manufacturer’s instructions for
adjusting and using brake calipers and pads
with Vuelta or ZeroLite wheel models that
are disc brake only or disc brake-compatible.
VUELTA & ZEROLITE WHEELSET OWNER’S MANUAL 6.

CARBON WHEELS
CAUTION – Use only Vuelta brake pads
and holders supplied with Corsa Carbon
50C Clincher and Corsa Carbon 50T Tubular
wheels, or similar non-abrasive brake pads
manufactured for use ONLY with carbon
wheels. Brake surface is farther away than
normal from top of rim on Vuelta Carbon
wheels; adjust brakes with holders to cor-
rectly contact braking surface.
CAUTION – Using conventional brake
pads on Vuelta Carbon wheels (except
Corsa Carbon 50A Alloy, which uses an alloy
rim), will cause overheating that will damage
wheel and may cause an accident, and also
void Vuelta Limited Wheel Warranty.
MOUNTING DISC BRAKES
Vuelta and ZeroLite disc brake-compatible
and disc brake-only wheel models feature
the universal six-bolt mounting system.

the complexity of their design and manufac-
ture, your Independent Bicycle Dealer has
the special knowledge and tools required to
perform all maintenance and repairs neces-
sary to ensure reliable performance and
operation.
CAUTION – Use of improper tools or
parts, or incorrect spoke tensioning, can
damage wheel or cause an accident while
attempting repairs or riding.
WHEEL CARE/MAINTENANCE
Your Vuelta or ZeroLite wheels require
regular care and maintenance to ensure the
best performance and service life possible.
See your bicycle owner’s manual or visit your
Independent Bicycle Dealer, if you have any
questions about care and maintenance.
