If the Wi-Fi signal strength is low,
you may need to relocate your
wireless router or install a Wi-Fi
range extender.
The Skydrop Controller is designed
to be installed indoors.
If you need to place your controller
outside, ensure that is in encased

Enabling Smart Watering
Once your Skydrop Controller is installed, saving
water has never been easier. Properly configuring
your Skydrop Controller helps us to make smart
decisions about how to best distribute water
through your landscape.
To set up cloud-assisted Smart Watering you
must first connect the Skydrop Controller to a
Wi-Fi Network. Select your desired Wi-Fi network
through your Skydrop Controller’s interface,
and connect by entering your Wi-Fi password
(if applicable).
Once your Skydrop Controller is connected
to a Wi-Fi Network, you will receive a Security
Code. Before you finish creating a Skydrop User
Account (trough either the Skydrop website, or
the Skydrop App) you will be prompted to enter
the Security Code from your device. Pairing is
complete once a valid Security Code has been
entered, and your User Account will be
associated with your Skydrop Controller.
You may skip pairing your Skydrop Controller
with a Skydrop User Account.

NOTE: If your Skydrop Controller is connected to a Wi-Fi
and apply as many custom watering schedules as needed.
These customizable schedules allow you to water exactly
how you want to, independent from, or in addition to,
Skydrop’s weather-intelligent Smart Watering Schedules.
Using your own custom watering schedule is

network, it is connected to the cloud and cloud assisted
Smart Watering features are available. You do not need to
pair your Skydrop Controller with a Skydrop User Account
to acces cloud-assisted features.
To take full advantage of Skydrop’s Smart Watering
technology you will be prompted (via the Skydrop Mobile App,
website, or the controller itself) to answer questions about
each detected sprinkler zone. Skydrop uses your local weather
data as well as information about what type of plants,
sprinkler heads, slopes and shade patterns characterize your
landscape. After you have entered information about each
zone, you will be presented with the Schedule menu. The
Scheduling interface gives you the option to create, modify
recommended for the following scenarios:

You do not need to be connected to
a Wi-Fi network to use your Skydrop
Controller. Enter your current local
time, and enable one or more
customized watering schedules.

Day-to-Day Use
Skydrop Isn’t Watering Enough
A visibly stressed lawn, or dry, discolored plants indicate that
Skydrop may not be watering enough. You may find that this is
only in specific areas in your landscape. Unfortunately, if this is the
case you will probably have to water more than is required in the
rest of a particular watering zone to make up for the isolated spot
in question.
Determine which zone(s) is not receiving enough water and enter
the Zone Settings Menu to adjust the “Water More / Water Less”
slider. Move the slider to “Water More”.
If more drastic adjustments are needed, select the cog found in
the “Settings” menu and adjust frequency and duration directly.
In most cases, Smart Watering will handle all daily watering needs across all zones.
Skydrop Is Watering Too Much
Over-watering can be more difficult to diagnose. If it hasn’t rained
and you find a lot of mushrooms in your landscape, this can be a
good sign that your Skydrop Controller is watering an area too much.
Seasonal change is another good reason to adjust your Skydrop
Controller to water less.
Determine which zone(s) is receiving too much water and enter
the Zone Settings Menu to adjust the “Water More / Water Less”
slider. Move the slider to “Water Less”.
If more drastic adjustments are needed, select the cog found in
the “Settings” menu and adjust frequency and duration directly.

Expansion Module Installation Guide
Before you begin
If your are installing the Skydrop expansion module to a Skydrop Controller
that is already installed and setup, make sure you follow the proper steps to
power down the system before removing the controller from the wall plate.
Power down. To power down, press and hold the power button located on
the bottom of the controller until the jog dial glows yellow.
Release the power button and wait 10 seconds.
Grab the right side of the controller with the ring and gently pull until it
unsnaps from the wall plate.

Connect the Skydrop expansion module to the
wall plate. Align the snap pegs on the back of
the expansion module with the holes in the wall
plate, then push the two firmly together.
Alternate Wiring Connection
NOTE: Prior to connecting the expansion module
to the wall plate, you can choose to feed the wires
through the middle of the expansion module by
popping out the logo plate.
Step 1: Connect expansion module

Feed wires into the expansion module. Push each valve wire firmly into a zone receptable (9-16) and pull
back slightly to verify each wire is secure.
The sensor inputs, S-(negative) and S+(positive) on the expansion module will allow you to connect a flow or rain
sensor to the skydrop controller. Once your sensor is connected and your skydrop controller is powered on, go to
Controller Settings for configuration. Place the controller onto the expansion module.
The VYR logo will iluminate when the controller is powered on.
Step 2: Connect wires

Once the controller is powered on, the setup wizard will prompt you to configure each new zone added
with the expansion module.
After you have completed the setup for all zones, check to verify all zones appear in the menu list.
For users with custom schedules, you will need to add the new zones (Zones 9 to 16)
to your existing custom schedules.
You can make any edits or adjustments from the ‘Settings Menu’ using your smartphone app
or web browser. You can also create a custom schedule specific to your newly added zones.
