Warranty
Terms:Unlessotherwisestated,WaratahNewZealand
Limited(‘Waratah’)warrantseachnewattachmenttobe
freeoffailurecausedbydefectivematerialorworkmanship
foraperiodofone(1)yearortwothousand(2000)hours,
whicheverfirstoccurs,followingdateofdeliveryofthe
producttotheoriginalretailcustomer(user).
WarrantycoverageforpartsonWaratah’sforestry
attachmentsisfor12monthsfromthedateofinstallation
byaWaratah-approveddealer,or180daysfromthedate
ofdeliveryifthecustomerbuysthepartoverthecounter.
Interruptions:Onlyonewarrantyinterruption,lastingno
morethansix(6)months,willbeacceptedduringthe
warrantyperiod.
Validity:T ovalidatethiswarranty,attachmentinstallation
mustbedonebyanauthoriseddealeronacarrierthat
meetsWaratah’sspecifications,prescribedpre-delivery
andstart-upinspectionsmustbecompleted,andthe
customermustcomplete,sign,andsubmitaWarranty
RegistrationFormtothesellingWaratahDistribution
Centre(WDC).
Obligations:Waratah’ssoleobligationunderthis
warrantyislimitedtorepairsoffailuresduetofaulty
workmanship,ortherepairorreplacementofdefective
parts.Theseactionsarewithoutcharge,whetherinthe
field,oratWaratah’sfactory,warehouse,oranapproved
repairshop.Returnfreightofpartsmustbepre-paid
bytheuser.Waratahisnotresponsibleforanycosts
associatedwiththedeliveryofanattachmentoritsparts
forrepairs,oranycostsassociatedwiththedeliveryof
partstomakerepairs.
Exceptions:Thiswarrantydoesnotapplytosoftware.
Itdoesnotapplytomaintenanceitemsusedinservice
(suchaslubricatingoilsandfilters)andconsumableparts
(suchasbladesandsawchains).Itdoesnotapplyto
productsthatshowevidenceofneglect,overload,abuse,
accident,orunauthorisedalteration.Itdoesnotapply
toproductsthatareinadequatelymaintainedorused
forotherthantheirdesignatedpurposes,asdefinedin
Waratah’stechnicalandmarketingpublications.
Annulment:ThiswarrantyshallbevoidifWaratah
determinesthattheattachment’sperformanceorreliability
isadverselyaffectedby1)repairsoralterationstothe
productmadebypersonsorfirmsnotapprovedby
Waratah,or2)installationoftheproductonamachine
orbypersonsorfirmsnotapprovedbyWaratah,or3)
replacementpartsthatarenotgenuineWaratahparts.
LiabilityonthepartofWaratahfordamages,whether
general,special,orarisingthroughnegligence,and
expresslyincludinganyincidentalandconsequential
damages,isherebydisclaimed.Waratah’sobligation
torepairorreplaceisthelimitofitsliabilityunderthis
warranty,andtheuser’ssolerightandremedy.
Thiswarrantyisexpresslyinlieuofallother
warranties,expressorimplied,writtenororal,and
including,withoutlimitation,anyimpliedwarranties
ofmerchantabilityorfitnessforpurpose.
Thiswarrantymaynotbechanged,altered,ormodifiedin
anywayexceptinwritingbyWaratah.
AvoidUnauthorisedMachineModifications
UnauthorisedchangestoaWaratahproductcouldaffect
itsintegrityanditsabilitytoperformasintended.
NochangesshouldbemadetoanyWaratahproduct
otherthanWaratah-approvedoptionsfittedbyauthorised
personnelinafactory-approvedmanner,asdescribed
inproductliteratureissuedbyWaratah.WDCscanalso
providewrittenapprovalformodifications,atWaratah’s
discretion.
Anyunapprovedmodification,andanyunapproved
adjustmenttoanattachmentorpartthereofthatfalls
outsidepublishedspecifications,voidsthewarranty.It
alsovoidsthecertificationonanysafetyitemsinstalled
onthemodifiedequipment,andanywarrantiesbyparts
manufacturers.Warrantydoesnotapplytoanymodified
component.
Waratahdisclaimsresponsibilityforanyconsequences
arisingfromunauthorisedmodifications(suchastheuse
ofanunapprovedsawbaronafellinghead).Anyperson
ororganizationinvolvedinanunauthorizedmodificationis
deemedtohaveassumedtherisksconcerned,andmay
belegallyliableforanyconsequences.

injuryfromflyingpiecesofmetalorotherdebris.
Wearclose-fittingclothing,andusejob-appropriatesafety
equipment.
Prolongedexposuretoloudnoisecancausehearing
impairmentorloss.Consequently,youshouldwear
suitablehearingprotection,suchasearmuffsorearplugs,
toprotectagainstobjectionableoruncomfortably-loud

Safetyprecautions
IMPORTANT:Thefellingheadmustonlybeoperated
inamannerthatpreventsdebrisfromhitting
thecab.Tosupportthisoperation,itmay
benecessarytoreplacethefrontwindow
withtheonecapableofwithstandingimpacts
fromdebris.Thiswillhelpreducetheriskof
seriousinjurytotheoperatorand/ormachine
damage.Onlyqualified,trainedpersonnel
shouldoperatethisfellinghead.
Thefellingheadhasarotationfeature;itcanberotated
soastodirectdebrisandotherforeignobjectsawayfrom
theoperators’cab.
Duetoitsrotationcapability,itisextremelyimportantto
ensureallpersonnelfollowallsafetyprecautionswhen
operating,inspecting,maintaining,andservicingthis
fellinghead.
IMPORTANT:Toavoiddamagingthecarrierand/or
thefellinghead,usecautionwhenmanoeuvring
thefellingheadclosetothecarrier.
fellingheadmanoeuvrescancausethefellingheadto
makecontactwiththetrack.Thiscanincreasetheriskof
seriousinjurytotheoperatorand/ordamagetothecarrier
andfellinghead.
IMPORTANT:Thefellingheadcanfallunpredictably
whentheengineisshutdown.Intheeventof
beingunabletorestarttheengine,lowerthe

fellingheadtothegroundandreleasethetrees
fromthegrapplearmsbeforeexitingthecab.
DONOTexitthecaborapproachthefellinghead
untiltheheadisloweredtothegroundandany
trappedhydraulicpressurehasbeenreleased.
Iftheengineshutsdownwithoutthefellingheadinthe
parkingposition,restarttheengineandpositionthehead
onthegroundinastableposition.Alwaysparkthecarrier
sothefellingheadisonlevelgroundBEFOREturningthe
engineoffandexitingtheoperators’cab.

IMPORTANT:Thefellingheadcanfallunpredictably
whentheengineisshutdown.Intheeventof
beingunabletorestarttheengine,lowerthe
fellingheadtothegroundandreleasethetrees
fromthegrapplearmsbeforeexitingthecab.
DONOTexitthecaborapproachthefellinghead
untiltheheadisloweredtothegroundandany
trappedhydraulicpressurehasbeenreleased.
Whenstartinganoperationinanewlocation,identify
theworkzone.
Chooseanagreedworkingprocedureamongtheteam
workingwiththefellingheadanddonotchangeitwithout
furtherdiscussion.
Beforeeachperiodofoperation,testtoensureall
safetyequipment,instruments,andcontrolsareworking
correctly.
Duringoperation,keepallwindowsanddoorsclosed.
Whensomeoneentersthesafetyzone,youshouldsafely
stopthefellingheadimmediately.
Ensureno-onestandsinthecuttingdirectionofthe
saw-chain;thechainshothazardzoneisapproximately
15-degreestowardstherearofthesprocketandinfrontof
thebar-tip.Keepallpersonnel90meters(300feet)away
fromthefellingheadduringtreefelling.
Ensuretheworkzoneisclearbeforefellingatreeor
processingastem.
Checkwithlocalauthoritiesregardinglocalsafety
regulations.Anticipateasafetyzoneofatleast5meters
(16feet)betweenpowerlinesandthenearestpointof
contactofthefellinghead.
Whenworkinginarestrictedarea,checkforinterference
withcylinderrods,hydraulichoses,andelectricalcables,
etc.
Alwayslowerthefellingheadanditsloadtotheground;
leavingaloadsuspendedcouldresultininjuryordeath.
Passingaloadoveranothervehicle,evenifitappears
empty,couldcauseinjurytosomeoneoutoftheoperator's
lineofsight.
IMPORTANT:Usecautionwhenmanoeuvringthe
fellingheadclosetothecarrier.Failingto
dosomayresultindamagetothecarrier
and/orthefellinghead.
Alwaysallowenoughdistancebetweenthestemandthe
harvestercab.
When(re)movingalogfromoronastack,avoidmaking
anysuddenmovements.Suchmovementsmaydamage
thefellingheadandcanbecostlyintermsofpartsand
down-time.Itmayalsobeapotentialsourceofinjury.
Whenworkingatnight,ensuretheworkareahas
adequatelighting.Usearecognisedsafetylightwitha
wirecage-protectedbulb.
Inspectthefellingheaddailyforsignsofdamage,unusual
wear,fatiguecracks,orfaultyoperation.
Onadailybasis,youshouldinspecttheconditionofthe
saw-chainandsaw-barforsignsofexcessivewearor
damage.Intheeventyouhitarockorotherforeign
material,youshouldconductthisinspectionimmediately.

Preventfires
Handlefuelsafely:Storeflammablefluidsawayfromfire
hazards.Neverrefuelamachinewhilesmokingorwhen
youarenearsparksorflame.
Cleanthemachineregularly:Keeptrash/rubbish,
debris,grease,andoilfromaccumulating:inthe
enginecompartment;aroundfueland/orhydrauliclines;
andaroundelectricalwiring.Neverstoreoilyragsor
flammablematerialsinsideamachinecompartment.
Maintainallhosesandwires:Ifahydraulichoseshows
evidenceofleaking,youshouldreplaceitimmediately,
andcleanupanyoilspills.Examineelectricalwiringand
connectorsfrequentlyfordamage.
Keepafireextinguisheravailable:Ensurethereis
alwaysmulti-purposefireextinguisheronornearthe
machine.Learnhowtousetheextinguisherproperly.

NOTE:Thelocking-pinisretainedattheTiltLock
CapScrewStorageLocation.
Understandallthecontrolleversandtheirfunctions;note
allsafetydevicesonthefellingheadandensuretheyare
workingproperly.
Modifying,moving,orremovingsafetydevicesfittedtothe
equipmentcouldresultininjuryordeath.
Wherepossible,lowerallequipmenttotheground;stop
theengine,andremovethekey.Turnoffpowertothe
controllerandisolate.Hanga“DONOTUSE”signinthe
cabwindow,and,ifpossible,lockthecabdoor.
Whencarryingoutserviceand/ormaintenancework,
ensurethetilt-frameisintheharvestingorprocessing
position,andensurethelocking-pinisinstalled.
Ifitisnecessarytoworkonaraisedboomorfellinghead,
ensuretheyaresupportedandsecuredtopreventthe
boomfromlowering.Thefellinghead’slocking-pinmust
befittedinthelockposition.
Workinginthe“pinch”or“saw”areaofthefellinghead
whilethehydraulicsystemisactivecouldresultininjuryor
death.Alwaysturnofftheharvesterpriortocommencing
service.
Alwaysremainonthegroundoronasafeplatform
whenperformingrepairsormaintenance.Standingon
equipmentisasafetyhazard,whichcouldresultininjury
ordeath.
Donotstandunderasuspendedfellinghead;doingso
couldresultininjuryordeath.
Becauseofthesizeofsomeproductcomponents,always
useproperliftingprocedureswhenremovinganyitems.
Ensurethefellingheadadjustmentsarecorrectandthe
grapplearmsandsaw-chainaresharp.T akeextreme
carewhenmovingaroundtheseareas.Ifnecessary,wrap
allsharpitemsinaprotectivesurface;failingtodoso
couldresultinpersonalinjury.
Beawareofexposedpartssuchasthecylinderrods
orhoses,and,ifthesearedamaged,replacethem
immediately.
Whenremovingthemainvalve-guard,alwaysstopthe
engineandlockthetilt-frame.Youmaybeseriously
injuredifthefellingheadsuddenlystandsup.
Ifitisnecessarytoworkonthehydraulicsystemwhileitis
underpressure(forexample,searchingforleaks),always
wearglovesandfullprotectiveclothing;searchforleaks
usingapieceofcardboard.
Alwaysreducethehydraulicsystempressuretozero
beforeattemptingtoworkonanyhydrauliccomponent.

Hydraulicoilbecomeshotduringoperation;donotallow
hydraulicoiltocomeintocontactwiththeskin,asitmay
causesevereburns.Inaddition,whenunderpressure,
hydraulicoilcaneasilypenetratetheskin;inthisinstance,
youwillrequiremedicalattentiontoimmediatelyremove
thefluid.
Takecarewhenhandlingvalves:theelectricalcontrols
andsolenoidsarenotintendedforcarrying.
Checkthehydraulicoilregularlyandaddoilwhenrequired.
Improperdisposaloffluidscancauseirreversibleharm
totheenvironment;ensureyouareawareof,and
consistentlyfollow,theproperwaytodisposeofwaste.
Followingmaintenance,replaceallguardsandsafety
devicessecurelybeforeattemptingarestart.
Alwaysensureallservicepersonnelandequipmentare
clearoftheagreedworkzone.Failuretofollowthis
practicecouldresultininjuryordeath.

Avoidworksitehazards
Avoidcontactwithburiedcablesandgas/waterlines:
Beforestartingwork,youshouldcontactyourlocalutility
linelocationservicestoidentifyallundergroundutilities.
Preparetheworksiteproperly:Avoidoperatingnear
structuresorobjectsthatcouldfallontothemachine;clear
awaydebristhatcouldmoveunexpectedlyifrunover.
Avoidmachinecontactwithoverheadobstacles:
