GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
For your protection, The Big FreezeTM drink mixer is equipped with
a 3-conductor cord set.
Units of 120-volts are supplied with a molded 3-prong grounding-
type plug, and should be used in combination with a properly
connected grounding-type outlet as shown in Figure 1.
If a grounding-type outlet is not available, an adapter, shown in
Figure 2, may be obtained to enable a 2-slot wall outlet to be
used with a 3-prong plug.
As shown in Figure 3, the adapter must be grounded by attaching
its grounding lug under the screw of the outlet cover plate.
CAUTION: Before using an adapter, it must be determined that
the outlet cover plate screw is properly grounded. If in doubt,
consult a licensed electrician.
Never use an adapter unless you are sure it is properly grounded.
NOTE: Use of an adapter is not permitted in Canada.

INTRODUCTION
The Big Freeze™drink mixer is designed to process both hard and
soft ice cream, gelato and custard-based mixtures in standard
milkshake cups, utilizing a powerful and quiet, direct-drive motor
without noise-producing gears or belts.
SPLASH SHIELD ASSEMBLY
1. Position the main housing on a sturdy surface where it will
not be knocked over.
2. Remove the splash shield guide track (part 8) from the
right side of the main housing by removing the two thumb
screws.
3. Locate the splash shield (part 7).
4. Slide the splash shied into the guide track on the left side
from top to bottom so that it rests on the bottom.
5. Take the right guide track and slide it over the splash shield
from top to bottom.
6. Reassemble the right guide track to the main housing by
aligning the thumb screws with the openings at the top
and bottom. Make sure that the thumb screws are screwed
in securely.
7. Be sure that the splash shield slides up and down freely
*Note that the splash shield is meant to be secured to the housing
to ensure safe operation.
OPERATION
1. Be sure the plastic splash shield has been properly installed
and slides up and down freely.
2. Select and install the appropriate-style agitator based on
the use of either hard or soft drink bases, by loosening the
screw located under agitator with a screwdriver. Change
agitators simply by securely holding the spindle while
rotating agitator counterclockwise and tighten screw with
a screwdriver.
3. Ensure drink mixer is placed on a secure, at surface that is
able to withstand the unit’s weight.
4. Plug power cord into properly grounded electrical outlet of
correct voltage.

5. Set Variable Speed Dial to the desired speed.
6. Place cup with ingredients under spindle on the platform.
7. When ready, set Start/Stop rocker to the Start position.
8. Allow motor to reach full set speed (1–2 seconds).
9. Bring mixing cup up into position under the rotating agitator.
10. Lift cup upward in one slow, continuous motion until agitator
bottoms out (hits bottom of cup), then lower cup back down
slowly until agitator begins to emerge. Repeat until desired
texture is achieved. When nished, withdraw cup from
spindle slowly enough to allow residue to spin off agitator
and be retained in the cup.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT RUSH THE MIXING PROCESS! The
secret to a thorough mix is to work slowly. Proper mixing requires
10–20 seconds of alternating upward and downward motion.
11. Once mix is complete, set Start/Stop rocker switch to the
Stop position.
12. If “add ins” or “mix ins” are needed, use the Pulse switch to
provide you with a burst of power to quickly distribute the
ingredients while avoiding over-mixing the other ingredients.
The Pulse switch will operate at max speed only when pressed
forward. Keep a rm grip on the cup while using the Pulse switch.
CLEANING & MAINTENANCE
Cleaning the Spindle
1. Wash and rinse the drink mixer cup and then ll it with
16 ounces of clean water (about half full). Set the variable
speed dial to a low setting, place the cup underneath the
spindle and press start. Run for two minutes and then
empty cup.

Splash Shield/Guide Track Disassembly
1. Remove the left and right guide tracks from the main
housing by loosening both the top and bottom thumb
screws.
2. Wash, rinse and sanitize the splash shield and guide tracks.
Sanitize these parts by immersion in sanitizing solution for
two minutes. Shake off excess moisture and air-dry.
CAUTION: High temperatures may distort the splash shield
and the guide tracks. These parts must be hand-washed.

DO NOT PUT IN DISHWASHER.
3. Working from the top down, wash, rinse and sanitize all
parts of the mixer housing located above, around and below
the spindle and agitator, and that portion of the spindle itself
which is above the agitator, using absorbent wiping cloths
moistened with cleaning solution, rinse water and sanitizing
solution.
4. Reassemble the splash shield guide tracks and the splash
shield to the main housing by following the Splash Shield
Assembly instructions.
5. Wash, rinse and sanitize the agitators as follows:
– Plug mixer power cord into electrical outlet.
– Add 16 ounces of water to drink cup (about half full).
– Bring cup into normal operating position with agitator
immersed in solution before turning motor on.
– Turn motor on, set to speed 5 and run for 2 minutes.
– Withdraw cup slowly, allowing excess solution to spin
off and be retained in the cup.
– Turn motor off.
– Empty cup and repeat 2-minute run with 16 ounces of
clean water.
– Empty cup. Do not rinse cup, spindle or agitator after
sanitizing is completed. Allow all parts to air-dry.
The following washing and sanitizing solutions, or their
equivalents, may be used.
TO WASH: Use only low-foaming detergents formulated for
cleaning dishware and cooking utensils. These products can
be purchased from restaurant and commercial food service
suppliers. Follow the detergent manufacturer’s instructions.
TO SANITIZE: Use regular, unscented bleach diluted with water
between 50°F and 120°F. Follow the food equipment cleaning
instructions on the label to not exceed 200 ppm total available
chlorine. The sanitizing dilutions are based on the hypochlorite
concentration of the bleach. The dilutions for two commonly
available bleach concentrations are:
– Hypochlorite: 5.25% – 3 teaspoons bleach per gallon of water
– Hypochlorite: 8.25% – 2 teaspoons bleach per gallon of water
Immerse in or alternately spray item with sanitizing solution and
soak for 2 minutes.

HELPFUL HINTS
1. Always unplug The Big FreezeTM drink mixer before
disassembling or assembling parts.
2. Be sure to keep all the instructions, parts lists and service
information in a safe and handy place.
3. If using ice, only use crushed ice or small cubes in
The Big FreezeTM drink mixer.
4. Clean The Big FreezeTM drink mixer thoroughly before
initial use.
5. Be sure that all detachable parts are fastened tightly
before operating The Big FreezeTM drink mixer.
6. Operate The Big FreezeTM drink mixer only when it is
fully assembled.
7. To avoid splashing drinks of thin consistency, operate
on low speed.
Any other servicing should be performed by an authorized service
representative.

Waring warrants every new Waring®Commercial The Big Freeze™
Variable Speed Drink Mixer to be free from defects in material and
workmanship for a period of one year from the date of purchase
when used with foodstuffs, nonabrasive liquids (other than
detergents) and nonabrasive semiliquids, provided it has not been
subject to loads in excess of the indicated rating. In addition, the
motor in this appliance has a full three-year warranty.
Under this warranty, the Waring Commercial Division will repair
or replace any part that, upon our examination, is defective in
materials or workmanship, provided the product is delivered
prepaid to the Waring Service Center at:

Approved Service Center.
This warranty does not: a) apply to any product that has become
worn, defective, damaged or broken due to use or due to repairs
or servicing by other than the Waring Service Center or a Factory

or tampering; or b) cover incidental or consequential damages of
any kind.

the United States or Canada; this supersedes all other express

INSTRUCCIONES DE PUESTA A TIERRA
Para su protección, este aparato está equipado con un cable de
puesta a tierra.
Los cables de los aparatos de 120 V están dotados de un
enchufe con puesta a tierra, el cual debe ser conectado a una
toma de corriente debidamente puesta a tierra (Fig. 1).
Si una toma de corriente puesta a tierra no está disponible, se
podrá usar un adaptador para conectar el aparato a una toma de
corriente polarizada (Fig. 2).
El adaptador debe ser puesto a tierra mediante un tornillo de
metal que conecte la lengüeta del adaptador a la placa de la
toma de corriente (Fig.3).
PRECAUCIÓN: antes de conectar el adaptador, asegúrese de
que la toma de corriente esté puesta a tierra. Si no está seguro/a,
comuníquese con un electricista.
Nunca use un adaptador sin estar seguro/a de que la toma de
corriente esté puesta a tierra.
NOTA: está prohibido usar un adaptador en Canadá.

INTRODUCCIÓN
La malteadora The Big Freeze™ha sido diseñada para preparar
bebidas a base de helado (firme o suave), gelato o crema con
huevo directamente en vasos para batidos, rápidamente y sin
hacer ruido gracias a su motor de inducción y transmisión directa
potente y silencioso.
ENSAMBLAJE DEL PANEL ANTISALPICADURAS
1. Coloque el aparato sobre una superficie plana y segura,
donde no hay riesgo de que alguien lo haga caer.
2. Retire la guía (8) derecha de la carcasa del aparato, sacando
los tornillos arriba y abajo.
3. Agarre el panel antisalpicaduras (7).
4. Introduzca el lado izquierdo del panel antisalpicaduras en la
guía izquierda y deslícelo hasta abajo.
5. Introduzca el lado derecho del panel antisalpicaduras en la
guía derecha y deslícelo hasta abajo.
6. Vuelva a ensamblar la guía derecha a la carcasa del aparato,
introduciendo los tornillos en los orificios arriba y abajo.
Cerciórese de que los tornillos están bien apretados.
7. Cerciórese de que el panel antisalpicaduras se desliza
libremente hacia arriba y abajo.
*Nota: para una operación segura, el panel antisalpicaduras debe
estar sujetado a la carcasa.
OPERACIÓN
1. Cerciórese de que el panel antisalpicaduras está
debidamente instalado y que se desliza libremente hacia
arriba y abajo.
2. Elija el agitador deseado, dependiendo del tipo de
ingredientes usados (duros o suaves). Para quitar el
agitador: afloje el tornillo ubicado debajo del agitador con
un destornillador y jalar el agitador. Para instalar el agitador:
sostenga firmemente el eje giratorio e instale el agitador
al final del mismo, girando en sentido antihorario. Apriete
el tornillo con un destornillador cruciforme para sujetar el
agitador.
3. Ponga el aparato sobre una superficie plana y segura capaz
de aguantar su peso.

4. Conecte el cable a una toma de corriente puesta a tierra
adecuada.
5. Ajuste la velocidad al nivel deseado.
6. Coloque el vaso sobre la plataforma.
7. Ponga el interruptor de encendido/apagado sobre “START”.
8. Permita que el motor alcance su plena velocidad (1–2
segundos).
9. Acerque el vaso al agitador.
10. Alce lentamente el vaso hasta que el agitador toque el
fondo, y luego bájelo lentamente hasta que el agitador
aparezca a la superficie. Repita hasta haber obtenido
la consistencia deseada. Después de terminar, aleje
lentamente el vaso del agitador para evitar las salpicaduras.
IMPORTANTE: ¡NO MEZCLE DEMASIADO RÁPIDO! Para
mezclar bien, necesitará mover el vaso desde abajo hacia arriba
por 10–20 segundos.
11. Para apagar, ponga el interruptor de encendido/apagado
sobre “STOP”.
12. Si desea agregar ingredientes secos, use la función
de pulso para incorporarlos rápidamente sin mezclar
demasiado los demás ingredientes.
El aparato funcionará a velocidad rápida hasta que suelte el
interruptor PULSE. Nota: sostenga firmemente el vaso al usar la
función de pulso.
LIMPIEZA Y MANTENIMIENTO
Limpieza del eje
1. Lave y enjuague el vaso, y llénelo con 16 onzas (475 ml)
de agua limpia, aproximadamente hasta la mitad. Ajuste la
velocidad a un nivel bajo, coloque el vaso debajo del eje y
encienda el aparato. Bata por dos minutos, y luego vacíe el
vaso.

Desmontaje del panel antisalpicaduras

PRECAUCIÓN: el panel antisalpicaduras y las guías son
sensibles a las altas temperaturas y pueden deformarse
con el calor; por lo tanto lávelas a mano solamente. NO LAS
META AL LAVAVAJILLAS.
3. Trabajando desde arriba hasta abajo, lave, enjuague y
desinfecte la carcasa, la parte inferior del bloque-motor
y la parte superior del eje con una esponja empapada en
solución limpiadora, agua y solución desinfectante.
4. Vuelva a ensamblar las guías y el panel antisalpicaduras,
según se describe de la sección “Ensamblaje del panel
antisalpicaduras”.
5. Lave, enjuague y desinfecte los agitadores como sigue:
– Enchufe el aparato.
– Llene un vaso grande con 16 onzas (475 ml) de solución
limpiadora, aproximadamente hasta la mitad.
– Ponga el vaso en su puesto, sumergiendo el agitador en el
líquido antes de encender el motor.
– Encienda el motor y haga funcionar el aparato a velocidad
5 por 2 minutos.

LIMPIEZA: utilice solamente detergentes bajos en espuma y
especialmente formulados para lavar la vajilla y los utensilios

restaurantes y otros establecimientos de comida). Siga las
instrucciones del fabricante.
DESINFECCIÓN: utilice cloro regular, diluido en agua entre
50°F (10°C) y 120°F (50°C). La concentración de cloro no debe
exceder 200 ppm (véase las instrucciones sobre las aplicaciones
alimentarias sobre la etiqueta). La proporción exacta de agua/
cloro dependerá de la concentración de hipoclorito en el cloro.

INSTRUCTIONS DE MISE À LA TERRE

An d'assurer la mise à la terre, la languette de l’adaptateur doit
être xée au boîtier par une vis en métal (Fig. 3).
ATTENTION: vérier que le boîtier est mis à la terre avant
d'utiliser l'adaptateur. En cas de doute, demander conseil à un
électricien.
Ne jamais utiliser un adaptateur, à moins qu'il ne soit
correctement mis à la terre.
REMARQUE : l’utilisation d’un adaptateur comme celui
mentionné ci-dessus est interdite au Canada.
