Turn off the power

Remove the cover plate from the existing switch.
Use a voltage tester to test BOTH sides of the
switch. You may need to turn off more than one
circuit breaker /f u se.

Do not remove any of the wires yet .

Look for NEUTRAL wires
Chercher les fils NEUTRES
NEUTRAL wires are usually white. If you have them, we will directyou to connectthem later
in step 7. If you don't have them,your house is not compatible with Wemo Smart Light Switch.

Test the NEUTRAL wires/ Tester les fils NEUTRES
Use a voltage te s ter to check that there is no power in the NEUTRAL wires from
neighboring ci rcuits. If necessary, shut off additional circuits until no voltage is found.

Reinstall the 4-way switch. Select a 3-way switch
on the circuit to replace instead . Follow 3-way

Disconnect the GROUND wire from the switch (usually bare copper or green).
Remove wire nuts from the white NEUTRAL wires.
Debranchez le til de TERRE de I interrupteur (generalement en cuivre nu ou vert).

Prepare Wemo Smart Light Switch and wires

Wemo et les fils
Grab the cover plate from the top and pull down to snap it off of the Wemo Smart Light Switch.
Prenez ,a plaque de la parrie superieure et tirez-la vers le bas pour la detacher de

Loosen the black and red screws on the Wemo Smart Light Switch with a screwdriver.

If available, it's recommended to first connect the GROUND wires (usually bare copper
or green) from the wall to the green screw on the switch.

If your home doesn't have GROUND wires, proceed to connecting the LINE and LOAD wires.

Connect the LINE and LOAD wires from the wall (usually black) to the blackand red screws
on the light switch using your preferred method (@shown here).

Tighten each sc r ew after inserting wire.

Either wire can be connected to either screw.

Connect the provided jumper wire from the silver screw on the light swi tch to the NEU TRAL
wires in the wall with a wire nut.

Almost done! Tug each wire to ensure they are securely connected.

Carefully tuck the wires behind the switch and into the box.Screw the light switch into the
wall. Be careful not to over-tighten the screws.

Before snapping on the cover plate, you'll notice an 8-digit setup code on the switch.
You may need this during app setup. You can also find it in step10 of this guide.

To take advantage of Thread, you'll need a smart home device serving as
a border router. Examples of border routers include Apple HomePod mini
or Apple TV 4K (2nd gen or later). For a list of border routers and to learn
more aboutThread, visit wemo.com/thread. If you don't have a border
router, your Wemo will connect using Bluetooth.
