Specific Safety Rules for Sander
•Always wear eye protection.
•Use an appropriate dust respirator when sanding for an extended
period of time. This will help prevent breathing in the fine dust created
while sanding.
•CAUTION: Some wood contains preservatives such as copper
chromium arsenate (CCA), which can be toxic. When sanding these
materials extra care should be taken to avoid inhalation and minimize skin
contact.
•Always disconnect the sander cord plug from the receptacle before
changing abrasive sheets.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
FOREWORD
•This sander is suitable for coarse, medium or fine sanding of wood,
plaster, metal and plastics. It is ideal for leveling wallboard joints,
finishing cabinets, polishing furniture, removing paint and varnish and for
general finishing work in the shop.
SELECTING THE RIGHT ABRASIVE GRIT
•By selecting the proper type of abrasive, the finest finishes can be
attained. In general, the coarser grit sizes will remove the most material
and the finer grit sizes will produce the best finishes. The Hook and Loop
5” Disks are available in varying grit sizes.
ATTACHING ABRASIVE DISC
•Make sure the tool is switched off and unplugged before installing or
removing the disc.
•Check the back-up pad (platen) to make sure it is free of debris and/or
foreign matter.
•Align the holes in the disc with the holes in the back-up pad and press
firmly to secure the disc.
•NOTE: Take care not to damage the back-up pad by wearing the abrasive
disc completely down before changing it. The Hook and Loop system can
be damaged and the back-up pad is not a warranty item.
START AND STOP THE SANDER
•CAUTION: Make sure starting switch is in the “OFF” position.
•Attach the dust collection bag by pushing the bag tube over the dust
outlet on the sander. NEVER OPERATE THE SANDER WITHOUT THE
DUST COLLECTION BAG. The bag should be emptied on a regular basis
for efficient dust collecting.
•Make sure the power source voltage is the same as specified for the
sander.
•Inset cord plug into power source outlet.
•While holding sander firmly and off work surface, push starting switch to
the “ON” position.

•Allow sander to reach full speed. Set it down on the work surface evenly
and move it slowly back and forth in wide overlapping arcs.
•When you are finished sanding, lift sander up off work and push the
“OFF” switch to stop the sander.
•NOTE: Use only light to moderate pressure while sanding.Heavy
pressure will only slow down the speed of the pad, reducing the sanding
efficiency and may overload the motor’s capacity resulting in possible
damage.
SANDING PROCEDURE
•The orbital action of the sander allows you to sand with the grain or at
any angle across it for most sanding jobs. On the final sanding steps, a
better finish will result if you sand only with the grain.
•To produce the best finish possible, start with coarse grit abrasive disc
and change gradually to finer and finer abrasive disc. Do not go from a
coarse grit disc to very fine grit disc in one step. You will not be able to
remove swirl marks that might have been made by the coarse grit
abrasive.
MAINTENANCE
Although the sander does not require user maintenance, the sander should
be kept clean. Periodically blow out all air passages with compressed air, if
available. WEAR SAFETY GLASSES AND DUST. MASK. If compressed
air is not available, use a brush to clean of the surfaces. All plastic parts
should be cleaned with a soft damp cloth. NEVER use solvents to clean
plastic parts. They could possibly dissolve or otherwise damage the material.
