6 Safety
6.1 General safety precautions
This vending machine must never be cleaned using a water jet.
This document is intended for use as a reference book for qualified installation engineers.
Installation and service activity, including replacement of the mains cable, on this vending
machine should only be undertaken by a competent person who is fully conversant with
the potential dangers of working on live electrical equipment and mains pressure water.
It is recommended that any person undertaking installation and/or service activity on this
vending machine has previously attended a Westomatic Master Class training course
specific to this machine.
In order to ensure reliable machine operation and ensure safe working practices, the user
manual and associated Operator Instructions must be stored inside the document holder
located within the vending machine and be accessible to all staff involved in the machine
installation, operation, maintenance and cleaning at any time.
Place the machine on a firm flat surface and ensure that it’s level.
6.2 During installation
Extension cables or longer mains leads must not be used to power this vending machine.
This machine is supplied with a new water hose. Do not reuse an existing water hose.
The mains lead should be kept away from hot surfaces and sharp edges.
Precautions should always be taken by using insulated tools and insulated probes on test
equipment. HSE Guidance Notes 38 provides guidance on the selection of suitable test
probes, leads, lamps, voltage indicating devices and other measurement equipment used
by electricians when working on or investigating power circuits.
6.3 During normal operation
This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced
physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they
have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person
responsible for their safety.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
Do not tilt or climb on the machine.
Check the machine regularly for leaks and cleanliness.
6.4 During maintenance or repairs
Prior to any service activity, switch off and isolate the water and electrical supply. If in
doubt refer to BS7671 for safe isolation procedures.
Servicing of live equipment must never be undertaken.
There are no user serviceable parts within the hydration station.
Do not make modifications or alterations to the H2O water machine, and not to use the
water machine for any other purpose for which it has been designed.
Never look at the exposed UV lamp while in operation and never touch the UV tube on
annual replacement.
Your H2O water machine must be cleaned and sanitised on a regular basis to maintain
drink quality reliability and remove bacteria and contaminants from the water system.
The machine dispenses drinks for human consumption, so the highest standards of
hygiene are to be adhered to within the process area at all times.

6.5 Safety devices
6.5.1 Door service switch
Opening the door changes the state of the machine from vend
mode to service mode. Pulling the door switch will trick the
machine into believing that the machine door is closed. This
feature is useful to check the internal components while in
VEND MODE. The machine will be operated as if the door has
been closed and bottles and payments must be used to
operate the machine.
6.5.2 On / Off switch
The on / off switch on the fuse and distribution box puts the
machine in the on or off state. The machine may still hold
charge so before performing any maintenance remove the
mains cable from the wall socket.
6.5.3 Waste bucket full switch
The waste bucket float switch [A] must always remain in the
bucket, when the level of fluid in the waste bucket reaches the
float switch the machine will shut down. The bucket full switch
is outside the software control as an emergency stop safety
device. The waste full can only be reset by emptying the waste
bucket and cycling the power to the machine.
6.5.4 Bottle sensor
A bottle sensor [B] detects the presence of a bottle before
delivering a drink. In the event the bottle is removed the recipe
is stopped to prevent spillage and wastage.
The vend will not begin unless a bottle is in the correct position
in the bottle station, the blue LCD display will display a
message that a bottle has been detected.

8.6 Working principle
8.6.1 Water inlet valve
The main water inlet valve is a 24vdc double check valve which
controls when water can enter the machine preventing leaks prevents
water syphoning and contaminated water in the machine returning to
the main water supply.
An additional double check valve is fitted to the water hose doubling
the safety of leaks and contamination.
8.6.1 Water pressure regulator
This is used to set the incoming water pressure so that
wherever the machine is sited it will use the same drink
configuration settings. It may between sites be required to
adjust the water pressure regulator especially where low
pressure / portable water supplies are used.
8.6.2 Water stop valve
An internal water stop valve allows you to manually turn off
and isolate the water supply. This will help to remove water
and pressure from the system before changing the water
filters and UV lamp.
Turn off the water stop valve by rotating 90 degrees and press
the water flush button to run the last of any water and
pressure in the system. After changing the filters open the
water stop valve and press the water flush button to prime the
water system.
8.6.1 Water filter
The water filter is used to remove sediment and/or
contaminants down to 5 microns within the water system
depending on the type of filter fitted. The water filters must be
installed in the correct position with the sediment filter on the
left.
