Wharf T&T CENTREX service is an advanced, state-of-the art centralised exchange
matrix, which goes far beyond the conventional PABX systems to meet your companies’
needs. CENTREX raises voice products and services to the new level of excellence and
efficiency.
Wharf T&T CENTREX service provides you a full array of features, as well as
maintenance and repair services. The service enabled by feature phone model M5216,
the build-in functions can enhance the operational efficiency of your business. It is a
comprehensive system designed to meet your company’s specific needs.

1 Phone Set Features and Functions

Handset allows two-way communication while a call is established

Speaker turns on when you press an available directory number key. You can hear
when the other party answers and pick up the handset to speak.

Release Key cancels active calls.

Hold Key keeps a caller on the line

Feature/Directory Number keys let you use provisioned ACD/business features or
to make and receive telephone calls.

In Calls/PDN key is the line where incoming calls are presented. Outgoing calls
cannot be originated from this key in the ACD environment.

Feature/Line Indicators. The ►indicator appears beside the active line and
features.
A steady ►means that the feature or line is active.
A slow flashing ►means the line is ringing.
A fast flashing ►means the line is on hold or a feature is being programmed.

Dial Pad gives you easy push-button dialing and programming.

Volume Key adjusts the speaker, ringer, handset, or headset volume. It is also
used to scroll through setup functions shown on the display.

Display shows useful information about your calls or features.

Alerter flashes when the telephone rings.

Program allows you to enter programming mode.

2 Voice Call Operation
2.1 Answering a call on a Directory Number (DN)
To signal an incoming call, your telephone rings and the indicator beside a line or
intercom key flashes slowly.
To answer a call using the handset:
1. Lift the handset.
2. Press the DN key.
To answer a call while using the headset:
1. Press the DN key.
2.2 Making an outgoing call on a Directory Number
2.2.1 Using Your Handset:
1. 1. Lift the handset.
2. The PDN key is selected automatically and you hear a dial tone.
3. Dial the number*.
2.2.2 Using a Line Key:
1. Press any available line key. You hear a dial tone from the speaker.
2. Dial the number*.
3. Lift the handset when the other party answers.
(*) Please press “9”for external line.
2.3 Placing a call on hold
2.3.1 Using the Hold key:
1. Press the "Hold" button. The indicator flashed beside the line on hold and
you can use other lines or features.
2. Press the line key with the flashing indicator to return to the held call.
2.3.2 Using Automatic hold:
1. Press another line key. The indicator flashes beside the line on hold and
you can use other lines or features.
2. Press the line key with the flashing indicator to return to the held call.

2.4 Ending a call
1. Hang up or press the "Rls" button.
2.5 Call Waiting
Call Waiting notifies you when you have a second incoming call by sending a single tone
to the handset at regular intervals.
To answer your second call:
1. Press the feature key showing the flashing indicator. The original call goes on
hold automatically.
To return to your original call:
1. Press the line key of the original call. You can alternate between the calls by
pressing the appropriate line key.
2.6 Last Number Redial
You can redial the last number you called on a specific line. This is useful if the number
you called was busy and you want to reach the person again.
1. Press the line key used to make the last call.
2. Press the "#" button twice.
3. Lift the handset when the other party answers.
2.7 Call Forwarding
Call Forward lets you redirect your calls to another telephone. It will be useful when you
are away from your telephone, but are waiting for an important incoming call.
2.7.1 To Setup Call Forward
1. Press the "Call Fwd" button
2. Dial the number to which you want to redirect your calls (skip to step 3 if you
want to use the previous Call Forward number).
3. Press the "Call Fwd" button again. The indicator beside the Call Forward goes
ON.
2.7.2 To Cancel Call Forward
1. Press the "Call Fwd" button. The indicator beside the Call Forward goes OFF.
Note: If you are not in office & wish to redirect the call, you can make use of Remote Call
Forwarding. Please dial 2112 1233 to setup Call Forwarding remotely.

2.8 Establishing a Conference Call
You can set up a telephone call for 3-way conference*. This is useful when meeting in a
common place is not possible.
To add a person to a call:
1. While on the current call, press the "Conf" button. The current call goes on hold
automatically and you hear the dial tone.
2. Dial the number of the new person you want to add to your call.
3. Press the "Conf" button to establish a conference. The line key indicator for the
new person goes OFF once added to the conference
4. Repeat steps1-3 until you have added all the desired parties to the conference.
To add an incoming call to the conference:
1. While on the current conference call, press the line key of the incoming call. The
conference call goes on hold automatically.
2. Press the "Conf" button to add the new caller.
To end the conference call:
1. Hang up or press the "Rls" button.
(*) –If you wish to have conference call for more people, you can subscribe value-added
service of 6-way Conference to create a group call up to 6 parties.
2.9 Call Transfer
Send a current call to another telephone within your company using Transfer. You can
either remain on the line when you make the transfer or simply redirect the call.
2.9.1 To Transfer a Call Directly to Another Colleague
1. Press the "Transfer" button or the "Conf 3" button.
2. Make a call to whom you want to transfer the call. When the person answers, you
can talk privately--the original caller cannot hear your conversation.
3. If the line is busy or if the person does not answer, press the "Rls" button to
return to the original caller.
4. Press the "Transfer" button (or the "Conf 3" button) to complete the transfer and
disconnect yourself from the call.

2.9.2 To Transfer a Call by Establishing a Conference
1. While on the current call, press the "Conf" button or the "Conf 3" button. The
current call goes on hold automatically. You hear three beeps followed by the dial
tone.
2. Dial the number of the new person you want to add to the conference. When the
person answers, you can talk privately--the original caller cannot hear your
conversation. If the line is busy or if the person does not answer, press the "Rls"
button to return to the original caller.
3. Press the "Conf" button or "Conf 3" button to establish a conference. You can
now speak with both parties.
4. Press the "Rls" button to disconnect yourself from the call and complete the
transfer.

3 Other Advance Features
3.1 Call Pickup (Group Pickup)
Telephones in your company Centrex group can be programmed into Call Pickup groups.
Call Pickup lets you answer a call ringing at any telephone within your pickup group from
your M5216 feature phone.
To pickup a call ringing at another telephone in your pickup group:
1. Lift the handset or press the desired line key.
2. Press the "Pickup" button.
3.2 Call Park
Call Park lets you put a call on hold at your telephone, then retrieve the call again from
any telephone in your company Centrex group.
To park a call:
1. While on a call, press the "Call Park" button. You hear two short beeps followed
by silence
2. Hang up.
To retrieve a parked call from any telephone in your system:
1. Lift the handset.
2. Press the "Call Park" button. You hear three short beeps followed by the dial
tone.
3. Dial the number of the telephone that parked the call.
3.3 Automatic Dial
Use Automatic Dial to program feature keys on your telephone for one-touch dialing.
3.3.1 To Program an Automatic Dial Key:
1. Press the Automatic Dial key you want to program.
2. Dial the number you want to store. Please press “9’for external line.
3. Press the automatic Dial key again.
4. Label the key. You may want to use a name or telephone number to identify the
key.

3.3.2 To Erase an Automatic Dial Key:
1. Press the Automatic Dial key you want to clear.
2. Press the "#" button.
3. Press the Automatic Dial key again.
3.3.3 To Make a Call Using an Automatic Dial Key:
1. Lift the handset or press the desired line key.
2. Press the desired Automatic Dial key to dial the number you want to call.
3.4 Speed Call
You can dial telephone numbers quickly and easily using one- or two-digit codes. Speed
Call provides you with the 8 one-digit codes (2-9).
3.4.1 To Program a Speed Call Number:
1. Press the "Spd Call" button.
2. Enter a one-digit code (2-9)
3. Dial the telephone number* you want to assign to that code. Please press “9”for
external line.
4. Press the "Spd Call" button again.
5. Make a note of the Speed Call code and telephone number for future reference.
(*): You can store telephone numbers up to 24 digits in length.
3.4.2 To Erase a Programmed Speed Call Number:
1. Press the "Spd Call" button.
2. Enter the one-digit code for the number you want to erase.
3. Press the "#" button.
4. Press the "Spd Call" again.
3.4.3 To Make a Call Using Speed Call:
1. Lift the handset or press the desired line key.
2. Press "Spd Call" button.

3. Dial the code for the telephone number you want to call.
3.5 Intercom
You can make use of Intercom key to call a specific number in your system.
To place an Intercom call:
1. Press the "I/C" button.
2. Lift your handset when the other party answers.
3. If the person does not answer the call within two seconds, their telephone
automatically answers through the speaker

4 Listening Your Call Answer Messages
Call Answer works around the clock to maximise your Centrex service and is always
there to answer calls and take messages when you are not available to pick up the call.
Call Answer can store up to 20 one-minute messages in the mailbox.
4.1 Setup Your Mailbox
1. Dial “*18” to access Call Answer Message Centre
2. Select language
3. Enter your Centrex telephone number as your Starter PIN (Personal
Identification Number) and then press “#”
4. You can now change your PIN to a number of choice between 6 to 10
digits in length
5. Press “#’
6. Record your personal greeting for the Call Answer
4.2 Retrieve Your Messages
If you have voice message(s), the message lamp will light up.
4.1.1 From Your Feature Phone
1. Dial “*18” to access Call Answer Message Centre
2. Enter your PIN and then press “#”
4.1.2 From Your Mobile or Other Phone
1. Dial 121-288 to access Call Answer Message Centre
2. Enter your mailbox (telephone) number and then press “#”
3. Enter your PIN and then press “#”

5 Setting Your Feature Phone
5.1 Setting Ringing Volume
1. Press the "<<<| |>>>" button up or down while the telephone is ringing. The
display shows the adjusted ringing volume level, which remains in effect until
the next adjustment.
5.2 Setting Handset Volume
1. Press the "<<<| |>>>" button up or down while using the handset on a call.
The display shows the adjusted handset volume level, which remains in effect
until the next adjustment.
5.3 Setting Headset Speaker Volume
1. Press the "<<<| |>>>" button up or down while using the headset on a call.
The display shows the adjusted headset volume level, which remains in effect
until the next adjustment.
5.4 Setting On-hook Monitoring Volume
1. Press any available line key.
2. Press the "<<<| |>>>" button up or down to adjust the volume. The display
shows the adjusted monitoring speaker volume level, which remains in effect
until the next adjustment.
5.5 Tones Available in Your Feature Phone
Dial tone:
A continuous tone which means you can start dialing your call.
Busy tone:
A tone which repeats once per second to indicate that the
number you dialed is busy.
Call Waiting tone:
Two short beeps set at regular intervals which indicate a
second incoming call.
Confirmation tone:
Two short beeps followed by silence informs you that the
feature you used was successfully completed.
Reorder tone:
A fast busy tone which indicates that you attempted to use a
restricted feature or use a feature improperly.
