ESD problems are present everywhere.
ESD may damage or weaken the elec-
tronic control assembly. The new control
assembly may appear to work well after
repair is finished, but failure may occur at
a later date due to ESD stress.
• Use an antistatic wrist strap. Connect the
wrist strap to the green ground connec-
tion point, or to an unpainted metal sur-
face in the appliance.

• Touch your finger repeatedly to a green
ground connection point, or to an un-
painted metal surface in the appliance.
• Before removing the part from its pack-

A 120-volt, 60-Hz, AC-only, 15- or 20-ampere
fused electrical supply is required. A ime-
delay fuse or circuit breaker is recommended.
It is recommended that a separate circuit serv-
ing only this appliance be provided.
If codes permit and a separate ground wire
is used, it is recommended that a qualified

MOUNTING THE CLOTHES
VITALIZER
1. Lay the carton with the clothes vitalizer on
its back.
2. Open the carton so you can access the
front doors.
3. Remove the tape from the doors.
4. Open the doors and remove the contents
from inside the unit. Important: Before
the clothes vitalizer is installed on the wall,
do not open the doors more than 90° to
avoid damaging the door hinges.
5. Close the doors and reapply the tape to
hold them closed. Leave the clothes
vitalizer in the carton until you are in-
structed to remove it.
6. Remove the mounting bracket, nuts, and
lag bolts from the accessory box.

IM ORTANT: For wood stud installations, each
lag bolt must be installed in a wood stud. If
there are not two studs in the mounting area,
do not install the vitalizer. Do not use toggle
bolts through dry wall to support the clothes
vitalizer.
NO E: If you are installing the mounting bracket
assembly for the clothes vitalizer to wood studs,
proceed with step 9. If you are installing the
bracket on a concrete, or a concrete block wall,
proceed to step 10 on the next page.
9. To mount the clothes vitalizer to wood
studs:
a) Locate and mark the centers of each
wall stud. Make these marks about 72″
from the floor.

7. With the washer sides of the nuts facing
the mounting bracket assembly, start the
nuts onto the threaded studs of the bracket.
8. Mark a horizontal line at least 24″ long,
70-3/4″ minimum from the floor. Impor-
tant: he line must be level.

10. To mount the clothes vitalizer to con-
crete or concrete block:
a) Align the lower edge of the mounting
bracket assembly with the line you drew
earlier. Select and mark a hole location
on each side of the bracket.
b) Set the bracket aside, and drill two
anchor holes at the marks you made.
c) Drive the wall anchors into the holes
with a hammer.
11. Mount and secure the mounting bracket
assembly to the wall with two lag bolts.
Make sure that the bracket is level.
12. Space the inside edge of the mounting
bracket nuts so they are approximately 3/8″
to 1/2″ from the mounting bracket assem-
bly.

15. Place a carpenter’s level against one of
the clothes vitalizer doors, and check to
make sure that the unit is vertically level
(plumb).

from its shipping carton.
14. Place the two keyhole slots on the mount-
ing flange at the top of the clothes vitalizer,
over the two mounting bracket assembly
nuts, and lower it so it rests on the studs.
Do not tighten the nuts at this time.
b) Align the lower edge of the mounting
bracket assembly with the line you drew
earlier. Select and mark a hole location
on each side of the bracket that is
closest to the center of each stud.

16. If needed, apply two adhesive-backed
spacers (from the accessory box) to the
bottom rear side of the vitalizer. Additional
spacers may be stacked on top of the two
spacers if more are required.

20. Plug the power supply cord into a grounded
outlet.
21. If there is a storage drawer with your
clothes vitalizer, follow the instructions
packed with the drawer, and install it at this
time.

THEORY OF OPERATION
THE PERSONAL VALET CLOTHES
VITALIZING SYSTEM
The Personal Valet Clothes Vitalizing System
is designed to freshen any previously worn
clothing so that it is “ready to wear.” It wor s
for both dry cleaned and non-dry cleaned cloth-
ing. One of the ey components of the system
is the special solution, called Presiva®, that cap-
tures odors, and removes wrin les from the
fabric. The solution is manufactured by Procter
and Gamble™ for use in the clothes vitalizing
system.
Presiva is made up of donut-shaped molecules
that capture odor particles in the clothing,
“surfactants” to spread the Presiva droplets
over the fabric, and perfumes that freshen hard
to handle odors.
Presiva comes in two varieties:
1. A Soft formula that contains silicone to
lubricate the fabric and smooth wrin les,
leaving a soft feel to the fabric. It is in-
tended for all types of fabric.
2. A Crisp formula that adds a polymer to
loc fibers in place, leaving a starch-
li e finish to the fabric. It is only in-
tended for use with cotton clothing.
HOW IT WORKS
The clothes vitalizing system uses a compres-
sor to force air over a nozzle that is located at
the top of the Presiva container. The forced air
“atomizes” the solution, which forms a “mist”
that is distributed over the clothing inside the
cabinet.

The domed shape of the cabinet’s interior helps
to distribute the mist over the surface of the
clothing in the most effective pattern for uni-
form fabric deposition. An interior air port near
the bottom of the cabinet creates an opposing
air flow to further enhance the mist dispersion.

MISTING MODE: Air Dam er O en—

During the misting cycle, the compressor pro-
duces the Presiva mixture, and a fan creates
a draft at the top of the cabinet to vent the used
mixture. At the end of the misting cycle, the
compressor turns off, and a heater is ener-
gized, along with the fan, to dry the fabric.
The Heater has dual elements that are wired
in parallel. One element is rated at 440 Watts,
and the other element at 880 Watts. The ele-
ments can be operated together, or indepen-
dently, depending on the cycle that is selected.
A thermostat is located in the heater compart-
ment to guard against overheating (see the
photos below). A thermistor monitors the air
temperature as it exits the cabinet (see the
above photo for the thermistor location).

During the “drying” mode, the wax motor is
energized, which closes the air damper, and
directs air through the heater and into the cabi-
net.

An air damper, located in the upper compart-
ment air chamber, directs the air flow between
misting and drying modes. A wax motor con-
trols the position of the air damper.
During the “misting” mode, the wax motor is
de-energized. This opens the air damper and
directs air to create the low pressure area
above the interior vent.

The system uses an electronic control board
and touch panel to set the various cycles, pro-
vide user feedbac , control the ey compo-
nents, and provide a diagnostic/demonstration
function.
The dispenser nozzle contains a filter that is
attached to the bottom of the draw tube. If the
formula container is empty and the filter runs
dry, it is o ay to refill and continue to use it.
However, if the filter is saturated with Presiva
and allowed to dry, it will become clogged, and
will have to be replaced.

USING THE PERSONAL VALET
CLOTHES VITALIZING SYSTEM
A variety of special hangers, weights, and
tensioning devices are used in the clothes vi-
talizing system to tension the fabric and en-
hance the de-wrin ling properties of the
Presiva solution.
You can load up to three garments, but the rec-
ommended load for each use is 2 garments. A
minimum of 1˝ should be allowed between the
articles of clothing from the front to bac , and
from the front and rear of the cabinet. Garments
cannot be placed in the area above the hanger
bar. They will bloc the mist and disrupt the air
flow.
