agitator-style w asher.

Auto m atic Lo ad S ize S ensing
O nce you start the cycle,the lid w ill lock,and the w asher w ill
begin the sensing p rocess to determ ine the correct w ater level
for the load. This m ay take several m inutes. You w ill nd a
step-by-step description in the “C ycle S tatus Lights” section.
A s the w asher dam pens and m oves the load,the level of the
clothes w ill settle in the basket. This is norm al,and does not
indicate that m ore clothes should be added.
IM P O R TAN T:You w ill not see a w asher basket full of w ater
as w ith your past agitator-style w asher.
W H A T’S N E W U N D E R TH E L ID ?
Ch oosing th e R igh t D eterg ent
U se only High Efciency detergents. The package w ill be
m arked “HE” or “High Efciency.” Low -w ater w ashing creates
excessive sudsing w ith a regular non-HE detergent. U sing
regular detergent w ill likely result in longer cycle tim es and
reduced rinsing perform ance. It m ay also result in com p onent
failures and noticeable m old or m ildew . HE detergents are m ade
to produce the right am ount of suds for the best perform ance.
Follow the m anufacturer’s instructions to determ ine the am ount
of detergent to use.
N orm al S ou nd s Y ou Can E xp ect
A t different stages of the w ash cycle,you m ay hear sounds and
noises that are different from those of your previous w asher.
For exam ple,you m ay hear a clicking and hum at the beginning
of the cycle,as the lid lock goes through a self-test. There
w ill be different kinds of hum m ing and w hirring sounds as the
w ashp late m oves the load. A nd som etim es,you m ay hear
nothing at all,as the w asher determ ines the correct w ater level
for your load or allow s tim e for clothes to soak.
Use only High Efciency (HE) detergent.
Concentrated Cleaning
Low -w ater cleaning m eans concentrated cleaning. R ather
than diluting detergent as done in an agitator-style w asher,
this w asher delivers the detergent directly to the soils.
Cleaning w ith L ess W ater
The m ost striking difference in your new w asher is the
low -w ater w ashplate w ash system . The w asher autom atically
adjusts the w ater level to the load size— no w ater level selector
is needed.

TE M P
Tem perature C ontrol senses and m aintains uniform w ater
tem peratures by regulating incom ing hot and cold w ater.
S elect a w ash tem perature based on the type of fab ric
and soils being w ashed. For best results and follow ing
the garm ent label instructions,use the w arm est w ash
w ater safe for your fabric.
tW arm and hot w ater m ay be cooler than w hat your
previous w asher provided.
tEven in a C ool w ater w ash,som e w arm w ater m ay
be added to the w asher to m aintain a m inim um
tem perature.
S O IL LE V E L
S oil level (w ash tim e)is preset for each w ash cycle.
For m ost loads,use the soil level that is preset w ith the
cycle you have chosen. For heavily soiled and sturdy
fabrics,press S oil Level to select m ore w ash tim e,
if needed. For lightly soiled and delicate fab rics,press
S oil Level to select less w ash tim e,if needed. Lighter
soil level setting w ill help reduce tangling and w rinkling.
S P IN S P E E D
This w asher autom atically selects the sp in speed
based on the cycle selected. The preset speeds can be
changed. N ot all sp in speeds are available w ith all cycles.

The C ycle S tatus Lights show the progress of a cycle.
A t each stage of the process,you m ay notice sounds or
pauses that are different from traditional w ashers.
S E N S IN G
W hen the S TA R T/P ause/U nlock button is pressed,
the w asher w ill rst p erform a self-test on the lid lock
m echanism . You w ill hear a click,the basket w ill m ake a
slight turn,then lid w ill unlock b riey before locking again.
O nce the lid has locked the second tim e,the w asher
w ill slow ly sp in the dry load to estim ate the load size and
am ount of w ater needed,and begin adding w ater. The
w asher w ill then m ove the load briey,pause to allow
w ater to soak into the load,and resum e adding w ater. This
process m ay repeat until the correct am ount of w ater has
been added for the load. You m ay also hear w ater ow ing
through the dispenser,adding detergent to the load.
N O T E :The sensing light m ay also com e on during the
W ash portion of the cycle. This is norm al.
WAS H
You w ill hear the w ashplate m oving the load. U nlike
traditional w ashers,the load is not covered w ith w ater.
Low -w ater cleaning m eans concentrated cleaning. R ather

LID LO C K
To allow for proper load sensing,the lid w ill lock and the
Lid Lock light w ill turn on. This light indicates that the lid
is locked and cannot be opened.
If you need to open the lid,press

Load garm ents in loose heap s evenly around basket w all.
Do not w rap large item s such as sheets around the w ashplate;
load them in loose piles around the sides of the basket.
Try m ixing different sized item s to reduce tangling.

to reduce w rinkling and tangling.

w ater and pour into detergent tray. This tray holds 89 m L (3 oz.).
Do not overll tray – adding too m uch detergent m ay cause
detergent to be dispensed into the w asher too early.

It is norm al for a sm all am ount of w ater to rem ain in the dispenser
at the end of a cycle.

P ress the S TA R T/P ause/U nlock button to start the w ash cycle.
W hen the cycle has nished,the DO N E indicator w ill light.
P rom ptly rem ove garm ents after cycle has com pleted to prevent
odor,reduce w rinkling,and rusting of m etal hooks,zippers,and
snaps.
U nlo cking the lid to ad d garm en ts:
If you need to open the lid to add 1 or 2
m issed garm ents,you m ay do so during the
rst portion of the S ensing step.
P ress S TA R T/P ause/U nlock;the lid w ill unlock
once the w asher m ovem ent has stopped.
This m ay take several m inutes if the load w as
spinning at high speed. Then close the lid and
press S TA R T/P ause/U nlock again to restart
the cycle.
If lid is left open for m ore than 10 m inutes,w ater w ill pum p out.
9.S elect cycle o ptio ns
S elect any other cycle options you m ay w ish to add,if not
previously set. S om e cycles w ill autom atically add certain
options such as Extra R inse. These can be turned off,if desired.

K eep your w asher as clean and fresh as your clothes.
To keep w asher interior odor-free,follow this recom m ended
m onthly cleaning p rocedure:
1. M ake sure the w asher is em pty.
2. If using liquid chlorine bleach,add 1 cup (250 m L)to liquid
chlorine bleach dispenser.
IM P O R TAN T:Do not add detergent to C LEA N W A S HER
cycle. Do not use m ore than recom m ended am ount of bleach
to avoid dam aging product over tim e.
3. C lose w asher lid.
4. P ress P O W ER .
5. S elect C LEA N W A S HER cycle.
6. P ress S TA R T/P ause/U nlock. W ater w ill pour into w asher
for a m om ent and pause,lid w ill lock,then cycle
w ill continue.
N O TE :For b est results,do not interrupt cycle. If cycle m ust
be interrupted,press P O W ER and run a R IN S E A N D S P IN
cycle to ensure cleaner or bleach have been rinsed from
w asher.
To clean exterio r:
1. U se a soft,dam p cloth or sp onge to w ipe up any spills.
2. U se all-purpose surface cleaner,if needed.
IM P O R TAN T:To avoid dam aging the w asher’s nish,do not
use abrasive products.
R eplace inlet hoses after 5 years of use to reduce the risk
of hose failure. P eriodically inspect and replace inlet hoses
if bulges,kinks,cuts,w ear,or leaks are found.
W hen replacing your inlet hoses,m ark the date of
replacem ent on the label w ith a perm anent m arker.
WAT E R IN LE T H O S E S
O perate your w asher only w hen you are hom e.
If m oving,or not using your w asher for a period of tim e,
follow these steps:
1. U nplug or disconnect pow er to w asher.
2. Turn off w ater supply to w asher,to avoid ooding due
to w ater pressure surge.
WIN TE R S T O R AG E C AR E
IM P O R TAN T:To avoid dam age,install and store w asher
w here it w ill not freeze. B ecause som e w ater m ay stay in
hoses,freezing can dam age w asher. If storing or m oving
during freezing w eather,w interize your w asher.
To w interize w asher:
1. S hut off both w ater taps,disconnect and drain w ater
inlet hoses.
2. P ut 1 qt. (1 L)of R .V.-type antifreeze in basket and run
w asher on R IN S E A N D S P IN cycle for about 30 seconds
to m ix antifreeze and rem aining w ater.
3. U nplug w asher or disconnect pow er.

IM P O R TAN T:Dispenser trays are not dishw asher safe.
You m ay nd laundry product residue in your dispenser
trays. To rem ove residue,follow this recom m ended cleaning
procedure:
1. P ull tray out until you feel resistance.
2. Lift up slightly,and then continue pulling out.
3. W ash in w arm ,soapy w ater,using a m ild detergent.
4. R inse w ith w arm w ater.
5. A ir dry,or dry w ith a tow el,then place back into slot.
