Operating instructions
Starting Your Washer
Be sure to measure and add detergent, then place
a sorted load in the washer betore starting it.

control is now ready for your

l You have 15 minutes to make a se-
lection or the washer will automati-
cally shut off.
l The washer will automatically fill
to the “HI” water level. If more or less
water is needed, touch the Water
Level pad. The blinking light shows
the actual water level. The non-
blinking light shows the selected
water level.
l Select the setting that fits the size
of load you are washing.

size suggestions.
LOAD SIZES AND WATER LEVELS
For best cleaning results, the
load must be able to move freely
in the water. Too big a load or too
little water can cause wear or

for up to 15 minutes. To restart the
washer, touch the blinking HOLD
RESTARTpad.
Changing a Selection
l All options, except FABRIC Selec-
tions, can be changed any time
before they have started.
l FABRIC Selections may only be
changed up to the start of the
first FILL.
l If the washer has completed the
first FILL,touch POWER “OFF” then
start over with step 1.
l The indicator light will stay on and
one beep will sound when a selec-
tion has been accepted. I

TIME DISPLAY
The TIME Display shows the total
amount of wash agitation time se-
lected. When the first fill begins, the
display changes to “AU:’ indicating
automatic operation.
l Any time during wash agitation
the MORE TIME or LESSTIME pad
can be touched. The display
will show the number of minutes
left in wash agitation.
l During the final spin the dis-
play changes to show the
number of minutes let? until the
cycle is finished and the load
can be removed.
Restarting the Washer
The washer is designed to “re-
member” where it was in the cycle
when HOLD/RESTART is touched. It
will not remember if there is a power
interruption, such as a blown fuse.

The washer will finish filling (if needed),
and wash according to the new

If power is lost with water remaining
in the washer:

The washer will wash according to the

Changing the Amount of Wash Time
When a FABRIC Selection is touched,
the amount of wash agitation time will
appear in the TIME Display. The wash
agitation time which appears is the
recommended time for that cycle (for
normally soiled items). IF MORE TIME
or LESSTIME is desired, touch the ap-
propriate TIMED WASH pad before the
end of the first fill.
See pages 10 and 11for minimum,
recommended and maximum wash

What Happens in Each PRE-WASH Option
Use PRE-WASH Options to provide extra cleaning to heavily soiled or
stained items. The HOT WATEROption cannot be selected with any PRE-
WASH Options. Hot water can set stains.
NOTE: When combining the SUPER WASH Cycle with a WASH Cycle, it iS
necessary to select the SUPER WASH Cycle before the washer starts to
fill.
SOAK CYCLE Option
Brief periods of agitation and soak
time help remove heavy soils and cer-
tain stains that need extra pretreat-
ment Use recommended amount of
detergent.

What Happens in Each FABRIC Selection
Each FABRIC Selection has pre-set agitation and spin speeds designed for
different kinds of fabrics.
All FABRIC Selections are pre-set to use warm wash water and cold rinse water.
These temperatures can be changed by touching the pad that corresponds
to the temperature you want. These temperature options are discussed on later
pages.
REGULAR HEAVY Selection
A selection for sturdily constructed
fabrics that are heavily soiled.

What Happens in Each RINSE Option*
FABRIC selections are pre-set for cold rinse water. To get warm
rinse wafer in REG HEAVY and KNITS GENTLE:
1. TOUCH POWER “ON:’
2. SELECTWATER LEVEL.
3. TOUCH FABRIC SELECTION.
4. TOUCH WARM RINSE.
To protect Permanent Press fabrics, PERM’T PRESS Selec-
tion will not accept the WARM RINSE Option.
EXTRA RINSE for towels, jeans or heavily soiled items that need
extra detergent. The rinse temperature, agitation speed and spin
speed will be the same as the first rinse.
For loads needing rinse and spin only. Also useful for finishing
a cycle that’s been canceled by a power interruption or by
turning power off.
SPIN Option spins and drains loads or items that only
need the water spun out of them. This option is also useful
for loads canceled by a power interruption.
toptions are preset for high speed rinse and/or spin. For a
low speed rinse and spin, touch KNITS GENTLE before you
select RINSE SPIN or SPIN. This also shortens the spin time
by 2 minutes.

Proper and improper selections
The washer is designed to help you1 choose selections for the
best washing results. -
1. For fabric protection, the washer
will not accept certain selections.
For example:
If you touch then touch WARM
PERM’T. PRESS, RINSE, the warm

rinse will not
be accepted.
The indicator lights will not Stay
on and 3 beeps will sound when
a selection is not accepted.
When a selection is accepted, the
indicator light for that selection
comes on and stays on and one
beep will sound. The washer will
use the FABRIC selection (and
options) you selected.
3. When one Indicator Light comes on
but another goes off, this tells you
the second selection has canceled
the first.
For example:

If you touch
REG HEAVY, then touch PERM’T PRESS, the PERM’T
PRESS selection
will cancel REG
HEAVY.
NOTE: The REG HEAVY indicator
light goes off when the PERMIT
PRESS indicator light comes on.
4. For best fabric care and washabil-
ity maximum and minimum wash
times are preprogrammed for each
cycle. The washer will not accept
less time than the minimum wash
time or more time than the maximum
wash time. (See page 11for detailed
times.]
CYCLE SIGNALS
End of Wash Signal
r\
The Cycle Signal will beep 5 times
at the end of the WASH CYCLE. This tells
you the wash is done and the load
can be removed.
Deep Rinse Signal
At the beginning of the deep rinse
portion of the cycle, the Cycle Signal
will beep once. This tells you the
washer is filling for the final rinse.
Both signals can be cancelled by
touching the CYCLE SIGNAL pad. The
Cycle Signal Indicator Light will go off.

Liquid bleach dispenser
Always measure bleach. Do not
guess. Never use more than 1 cup
(250 ml) for a full load. Use less with
lower water level settings. Follow
directions on bottle for safe use. Use
a cup with a pouring spout to avoid
spilling.

into dispenser DO NOT let bleach
splash, drip or run down into the
washer basket. Undiluted bleach
will damage any fabric it touches.

diluted automatically during the
wash part of the cycle

Liquid fabric softener dispenser
1. Add detergent and load to the
basket.
2. Add liquid fabric softener to
the dispenser using the amount
recommended on the bottle.
(Avoid drlpping or spilling any
fabric softener on fhe load.)
3. IMPORTANT: Add enough hot
wafer to flll fhe dispenser to the
FULLmark.
4. Diluted fabric softener will be added to the load when the washer stops
spinning after the wash cycle. NOTE: Do not Stop the washer during this spin.
If you do, the fabric softener will be added to the remaining soapy wash
water. This can cause stains.
5. Clean dispenser after each use with warm wafer. Do not put detergent in
dispenser, if could cause dispenser to clog. To remove the dispenser, pull up
on the top portion. Replace after cleaning.

MAGIC CLEAN’lint filter
As load items are being washed, lint particles from the wash water automati-
cally collect on the MAGIC CLEAN” lint filter. This filter cleans itself. As the washer
drains, collected lint is carried away with the wash and rinse water.
If your washer drains into a tub, remove any lint collected in the drain or
strainer.

Caring for your washer
WHEN NOT WASHING, keep both
water faucets turned off. This takes
the pressure off the water inlet valve
and hoses.
REMOVE SHARPOBJECTS such as pins,
buckles, etc., from clothes before
washing. Close metal zippers.
AFTER WASHING, use a soft dry cloth
to wipe the outside and inside dry.
Leave the lid up until the basket is dry.
Wipe up spills right away. Spills can
dull or damage the finish.
SHARP OR HEAVY OBJECTS should
never be put on or in the washer.
Check pockets for bolts, nuts,
tools, etc.
SOME PRETREATMENT PRODUCTS
can damage washer and dryer dials,
consoles and finishes. Do not use
these products on or near your
washer or dryer.

Winterizing
Because some water stays in the washer, freez-
ing can cause a lot of damage. If your washer is
stored or moved during the cold weather..
