In order to assemble your Wilmont Grinder you
will need a few basic hand tools:
o7/16 wrench
o7/16 Socket wrench
o5/32 Allen wrench
o7/32 Allen wrench
o9/16 wrench
o3/4 wrench
o5/8 wrench
Step one:Bolt the bottom plate to the Grinder
body using the enclosed 5ea - ¼-20 x 5/8 long flat
headed Bolts. Using a 5/32 Allen wrench tighten all
5 Bolts as in Photo 2.
Step two: Attach the two black round Rod Spacers
between the two Vertical Plates on your Grinder. Use
2ea –¼ x 20 x 2 ½ inch Bolts with ¼ inch Washers &
Nyloc Nuts. It is important that you do this in the
correct order so that you are not fighting the spring
needlessly. The first one to connect is the one that
attaches through the end of the Spring, as seen in
Photo 3. If you have any issues with getting the
spacers between the two plates just loosen the closest
¼ x 20 Bolts to allow easier insertion.
Push down gently on the Pivoting Arm while inserting
the second Rod Spacer. When you have the Rod
Spacers in place, tighten all the ¼ inch Bolts that are
holding the Grinder body together. At this point, the
Grinder should be upright and sturdy. The Base Plate
has predrilled holes available for mounting to your
work surface. Alternately, you can mount the Grinder
to a board and then clamp the board to the work
surface.

Step three: Install the red Tracking Wheel using the included ½-13 x 3” inch Hex Bolt. Placement of the 5ea -
½ Washers is crucial to proper tracking. 1 Washers go under the head of the Hex Bolt, as seen in Photo 4, and
4 between the Tracking Wheel and the Grinder, as seen in Photo 5. Tighten the Bolt with a ¾ wrench.
Step four: Thread the Tapered Handle onto the left
side of the Pivoting Arm and lock it down with the
Acorn Nut using a 5/8 wrench. Photo 6 shows the
proper installation of this Handle.
Step five: Thread the four star 5/8-16 Tracking Control
Knob (spring & washer) into the upper portion of the
Pivoting Arm, bottom hole, until you contact the hinged
Tracking Plate. Continue threading in until this Plate is
parallel with the sides of your Wilmont Grinder. See
Photo 7.

Step six: Assemble the Motor Support so that it resembles photo 9. The Legs adjust to the height needed by
your motor. Use the Nuts to prevent the Legs from moving once you have leveled the motor with the Grinder.
Attach the Motor Support to the bottom of the motor after the motor is attached to your Grinder.
You should now have an assembled Wilmont Grinder
and an assembled Motor Support bracket. The motor
selection varies depending on the type of grinding work
intended. Please consult a Licensed Electrician for
advice regarding the selection and installation of your
motor.
Step seven: Attach your 56C Face Mount Motor to
your Wilmont Grinder. We have found that it is easier
to place your motor on its backside and turn the
Grinder sideways while attaching the 4ea - 3/8-16 x ¾
inch Hex Bolts with Washers as shown in Photo 11.

Step eight: Attach the Motor Support as seen in the Photo 12. Sometimes it is necessary to shorten the
threaded rod on the adjustable Legs as they may interfere with the electronic box on the motor. If this is
needed, simply shorten the threaded rod with a hacksaw.
Step nine: Next place your drive wheel on the motor, we have found that having the motors drive shaft to be
recessed about ¼ inside of the drive wheel to be about the right location. I always remove key from motor
drive shaft and run some 220 grit sandpaper over the 5/8 shaft to remove the high spots and remove all burrs.
Remove key by punching it towards the motor face with a hardwood dowel, the slot it is in is ramped at the
end, then do a test fit to the drive wheel to ensure its not too tight a fit before I place key back on shaft. You
should not have to hammer the drive wheel on, if so sand the motors shaft very very slightly with high grit
paper. Sometimes filing some off the key is necessary in order to get drive wheel on . Once all wheels are on
grinder and its properly wired turn grinder on and adjust the tracking knob until belt is in the center of the flat
platen. Next turn grinder off, and look to see if belt is in the center of the drive wheel. If not move drive wheel
in or out so when belt is centered on flat platen it is also centered on drive wheel. Feel free to add or subtract
washers on the tracking wheel so it is also centered on the belt when in use.
The Locking Handles can be placed in any of the 6 holes determined by the placement of your accessories!
If you feel the need to use the locking handles closest to the motor I usually use the smallest adj. handles as
found on the flat platen. They can be purchased from Mcmaster.com called adjustable handles
