1 General
1.1 About this document
These Installation and Operating Instructions form
an integral part of the unit. They must be kept close
to the unit and in readiness whenever required. Pre-
cise observance of these instructions is a pre-condi-
tion for use of the unit for the intended purpose and
for its correct operation.
These Installation and Operating Instructions con-
form to the relevant version of the equipment and
the underlying safety standards valid at the time of
going to press.
2Safety
These instructions contain important information
which must be followed when installing and operat-
ing the pump. It is therefore imperative that they be
read by both the installer and the operator before
the pump is installed or started up.
Both the general safety instructions in the ‘Safety
precautions’ section and those in subsequent sec-
tions indicated by danger symbols should be care-
fully observed.
2.1 Symbols and signal words used in these operating

2.2 Qualified Personnel
The personnel installing the pump must have the
appropriate qualifications for this work.
2.3 Risks incurred by failure to comply with the safety
precautions
Failure to comply with the safety precautions could
result in personal injury or damage to the pump or
installation. Failure to comply with the safety pre-
cautions could invalidate warranty and/or damage
claims.
In particular, failure to comply with these safety pre-
cautions could increase the possibility of the follow-
ing risks:
• the failure of important parts of the pump or instal-
lation,
• personal injury due to electrical and mechanical
causes,
• material damage.
2.4 Safety precautions for the operator
Existing regulations for the prevention of accidents
must be observed.
National Electrical Codes, local codes and regula-
tions must be followed.
2.5 Safety precautions for inspection and installation
The operator must ensure that all inspection and
installation work is carried out by authorized and
qualified specialists who have carefully reviewed
these instructions.
Work on the pump/unit must be carried out only with
the pump switched off and at complete standstill.
2.6 Unauthorized alterations and manufacture of
spare parts
Alterations to the pump or installation may only be
carried out with the manufacturer's consent. The use
of original spare parts and accessories authorized by
the manufacturer will ensure safety. The use of any
other parts may invalidate claims invoking the liabil-
ity of the manufacturer for any consequences.
2.7 Improper use
The operational safety of the pump or installation
supplied can only be guaranteed if it is used in accor-
dance with paragraph 4 of the operating instruc-
tions. The limits given in the catalogue or data sheet
must under no circumstances be exceeded.

3 Transport and interim storage
When receiving the material, check that there has
been no damage during the transport. If shipping
damage has occurred, take all necessary steps with
the carrier within the allowed time.
Handle the pump carefully so as not to damage the
unit prior to installation.
4 Intended use (Application)
This pump's basic function is to pump warm or cold
water or other low viscosity fluids that contain no
mineral oil, abrasive substances or materials having
long fibres. The manufacturer's approval is required
for use to pump corrosive chemicals.

6.2 Design of pump and motor
Multiple-stage vertical pump (2 to 8 stages) with a
wet-rotor motor. Inline piping connection.
In the wet-rotor pump all rotating parts are sur-
rounded by the liquid being pumped.
The pumping medium lubricates the bearings and
cools both bearing and rotor.
7 Installation and electrical connection
Installation and electrical work in compliance with
any local codes and by qualified personnel only!
7.1 Installation
• The pump must be installed in a dry, well-ventilated
and frost-free place.
Install the pump in a dry place p
• rotected from frost.
• The installation surface must be level and flat: any
tilting of the pump could cause premature bearing
wear.
• Install the pump on a concrete block (at least 4” /
10 cm high) to avoid any noise and vibration trans-
mission into the installation.
• Place the pump where it will be easy to reach, to
facilitate inspection and removal and/or repair work.
The pump must always be installed perfectly upright
on a sufficiently heavy concrete base.
• The installation and connection dimensions are
shown (see paragraph 5.2).
• For especially heavy pumps, place a hook or a ring of
sufficient capacity (total weight of pump) to allow
the use of a hoist or similar device for the servicing
and repair of the pump.
•Whenfittingtheovalflange, only the screws sup-
plied should beused. The use of longer screws might
damage the base of the pump.
• The flow direction of the fluid is indicated on the
identification label of the pump.
• Pump must be installed in such a way that it is not
stressed by the pipework. The pipes must be
attached so that the pump does not bear their
weight.
• It is recommended that isolation valves be installed
on the suction and discharge side of the pump. This
will save having to drain and refill the system if the
pump needs repair and/or replacement. The valves
are to be installed so that any water that escapes
cannot drip onto the pump motor or terminal box.
• Provide a minimum of three pipes diameters of
straight pipe on the suction side of the pump.
• A check valve should be placed on the discharge
pipe.

Existing regulations for the prevention of acci-
dents must be observed.

Dangers caused by electrical energy must be

National Electrical Codes, local codes and regula-
tions must be followed.
CAUTION! Possible damage of the pump
Dirt and foreign material in the pump volute can
effect the pump operation.
It is recommended that any welding and soldering
work be done before installing the pump.
Thoroughly flush the system out before installing
the pump.
WARNING! Risk of scalding!
If the pump is already installed in the system, the
system must be drained or the isolating valves on
both sides of the pump must be closed before the
socket head screws are removed as the pumped
liquid may be scalding hot and/or under pressure.
The pump must be positioned so that someone
cannot come into contact with the hot pump sur-
faces while operation.

• For direct connection to a public drinking water sys-
tem, the suction pipe must also have a check valve
and an isolation valve.
• For indirect connection via a tank, the suction pipe
must have a strainer, to keep any impurities out of
the pump.
7.2 Electrical connection
• The operating voltage and frequency are marked on
the nameplate.
• The pump must be connected to the power supply
by a solid cable equipped with a grounded plug-con-
nection or a main power switch.
• Three-Phase motors must be connected to an
approved motor starter. The set nominal current of
which must correspond to the electrical data on the
pump name plate
• The supply cable must be laid so that it never
touches the pipework and/or the pump and motor
casing.
• The pump/installation should be grounded in com-
pliance with local regulations. A ground fault inter-
rupter can be used as extra protection.
• The motor has a thermal overload sensor and con-
tact (P1 & P2 in the motor control box), normally
closed no load (potential free) type, maximum volt-
age 250 V.
• The connection to the power supply must be in
accordance with the connection plan (see fig. 4).
8Startup
8.1 Preliminary rinsing
8.2 System filling - Venting
Air evacuation process (see fig. 3):
• Close the two isolation valves and give one and an
half to two turns of the air bleed screw (fig. 3 -
item 5).
• Slowly open the isolation valve on the suction side
until air escapes at the air bleed screw and the
pumped liquid flows. The escaping air produces a
clearly audible whistle. Retighten the air bleed
screw.
• Slowly open the isolation valve on the discharge
side. The gauge on the discharge side is used to
monitor the pressure.
8.3 Starting up
Minimum continuous flow is:

• Electrical work by a qualified electrician only!
• National Electrical Codes, local codes and regula-
tions must be strictly followed.
• All electrical connections must be performed
after the electrical supply has been switched off
and secured against unauthorized switching.
• For safe installation and operation a proper
grounding of the pump to the power supply’s
grounding terminals is required.
WARNING! Health hazard
Each pump could be tested regarding hydraulic
features in factory, some water may remain in
them. It is recommended for hygiene purposes, to
flush the pump of any fluids used during testing
before any using with potable water supply.
CAUTION! Possible damage of the pump
Never operate the pump dry.
The system must be filled before starting the
pump. Ensure that all isolation valves are open.
WARNING! Bodily injury
Pump under pressure! When the pumped liquid is
hot and the pressure high, the stream escaping at
the air bleed screw may cause burns or other inju-
ries. For this reason, the air bleed screw should
only be loosened a turn and a half.
CAUTION! Possible damage of the pump
The pump must not operate at zero flow (closed
discharge valve)

8.4 Confirm correct rotation
Prior to turning the pump on ensure the rotating
assembly is free of any binding.
•A red reverse rotation troubleshooting light in the
terminal box ( see figure 1,item 9) lights when the
direction of rotation is incorrect.
• If the red light is on this is due to reverse rotation.
After insuring the main power supply is off, inter-
change two or three leads to reverse the rotation -
the red light should not appear after the rotation has
been corrected and the power has been turned on.
9 Maintenance / Service
All servicing should be performed by an authorized
service representative!
• These pumps are maintenance free. Self-lubricated
by the system fluid, these pumps have no seals to
leak or coupling to break.
• Always keep the pump perfectly clean.
• It is best not to empty the pump for a prolonged
shutdown if there is no risk of frost. If the place of
installation is not protected from frost, the pumps
and pipes must be emptied for the winter:
- Close the isolation valves, open the discharge
screws at the base of the pump (see Fig. 3, item 6)
and the air bleed screw (see Fig. 3, item 5). You must
absolutely close the isolation valves before opening
the screws.

Do not attempt the following unless 100% sure
power is off.
WARNING! Risk of scalding
Under some pump or installation operating condi-
tions (temperature of pumped liquid, volume
flow), the whole pump, including the motor, may
become very hot. There is a real risk of burns just
from touching the pump.
WARNING! Electrical shock hazard
Dangers caused by electrical energy must be
excluded.
All electrical work must be performed after the
electrical supply has been switched off and
secured against unauthorized switching.
WARNING! Risk of scalding
At high water temperatures and system pressure
close isolating valves before and after the pump.
First, allow pump to cool down.

10 Faults, causes and remedies
If the fault cannot be remedied, please contact
your local sanitary and heating specialist or WILO
customer services.
11 Spare parts
All spare parts must be ordered through your local
specialist and/or Wilo Customer Services.
In order to avoid returns and incorrect orders, please
specify the name plate data for all orders.

All electrical work must be performed after the
electrical supply has been switched off and
secured against unauthorized switching.

At high water temperatures and system pressure
close isolating valves before and after the pump.
First, allow pump to cool down.
FAULTS PROBABLE CAUSE REMEDY
10.1 THE PUMP FAILS TO OPERATE a) No power: a) Check the fuses, the wiring, and the
connectors.
b) The thermistor tripping device has
tripped out, cutting off power:
b) Eliminate any cause of overloading of
the motor.
10.2 THE PUMP RUNS BUT PROVIDES IN
SUFFICIENT FLOW AND/OR PRES-
SURE
a) Wrong direction of rotation: a) Check the direction of rotation of the
motor and correct it if necessary.
b) Pipe obstructed by foreign material: b) Check and clean the pipe.
c) Parts of the pump are obstructed by

1 Généralités
1.1 À propos de ce document
Cette notice de montage et de mise en service fait
partie intégrante du produit. Elle doit être conservée

2Sécurité

et de la mise en service. Il est donc impératif qu’elle

d’installer ou de mettre la pompe en service.
Il y a lieu d’observer non seulement les instructions
générales de cette section, mais aussi les prescrip-
tions spécifiques abordées dans les points suivants.

2.2 Personnel qualifié

2.3 Dangers encourus en cas de non-observation des
consignes
La non-observation des consignes de sécurité peut
avoir des conséquences graves sur la sécurité des
personnes et sur l’installation. Elle peut également
entraîner la suspension de tout recours en garantie.
En particulier, le non-respect de ces consignes de
sécurité peut accroître la probabilité des risques
suivants :
• défaillance de fonctions importantes de la pompe ou
de l’installation ;
• dangers pour les personnes par influences électrique
ou mécanique ;
• dommages matériels.
2.4 Consignes de sécurité pour l’utilisateur
Il convient d’observer les consignes existantes en
vue d’exclure tout risque d’accident.
Les codes électriques nationaux, de même que les
codes et règlements nationaux, doivent être respec-
tés.
2.5 Consignes de sécurité pour l’inspection et
l’installation
L’opérateur doit veiller à ce que tous les travaux
d’inspection et d’installation soient réalisés par des
spécialistes autorisés et qualifiés ayant pris connais-
sance du contenu de la notice.
Les travaux réalisés sur la pompe/l’unité ne doivent
avoir lieu que si la pompe est hors tension et à l’arrêt
complet.
2.6 Modification du matériel et utilisation de pièces
détachées non agréées
Toute modification de la pompe ne peut être effec-
tuée que moyennant l'autorisation préalable du
fabricant. L'utilisation de pièces de rechange d'ori-
gine et d'accessoires autorisés par le fabricant
garantit la sécurité. L'utilisation d'autres pièces peut
dégager notre société de toute responsabilité.
2.7 Modes d'utilisation non autorisés
La sécurité de fonctionnement de la pompe ou de
l’installation livrée n’est garantie que si les prescrip-
tionspréciséesauchapitre 4de la notice d’utilisation
sont respectées. Les valeurs indiquées dans le cata-
logue ou la fiche technique ne doivent en aucun cas
être dépassées.
