Introduction
Thank you for choosing to purchase this quality product. To minimise the risk of injury, we ask you to
always take some basic safety precautions when using this product. Please read this operating manual
carefully and make sure that you understand it.
Keep these operation instructions in a safe place.
Safety instructions
Warning! Read all safety precautions and instructions. Failure to obey the safety precautions and in-
structions might cause an electric shock, a fire, and/or severe injuries. Keep all safety precautions and
instructions for future use.
Safety in your working area
•Keep your working area proper and tidy. A cluttered and poorly lit workplace increases the risk
of accidents.
•Do not use the device in explosive zones, e.g., near flammable liquids, gases, or dusts. Electric
devices generate sparks that can ignite these substances.
•Keep children and other persons away from your work areas while using an electric device.
Distractions can lead to loss of control of the device.
Safety and electricity
•The plug must match the socket. The device must not be modified in any way. Do not use
adaptors together with earthed devices. An unmodified plug and a matching socket reduce the
risk of electric shock.
•Avoid touching earthed surfaces such as pipes, radiators, stoves, and refrigerators. With your
body being earthed, the risk of electric shock is increased.
•Do not expose the device to moisture or rain. Water penetrating an electric device increases
the risk of electric shock.
•Do not use the cable to carry or hang up the device or to unplug the plug. Keep the cable away
from heat, oil, sharp edges, or moving parts of the device. Damaged or tangled cables increase
the risk of electric shock.
•If using the device outdoors, only use an extension cord approved for outdoor use. Using such
an extension cord reduces the risk of electric shock.
Personal safety
•Fully concentrate on what you are doing and work advisedly. Do not use the device when being
tired or under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medicine. Even a short moment of inattention
during the use of this device might cause severe accidents and injuries.
•Wear personal protective equipment and always protective goggles, a dust mask, and anti-skid
safety shoes. Furthermore, a hard hat or hearing protection reduces the risk of injuries, depend-
ing on the type and application of the device.
•Avoid unintentional starting. Make sure that the switch is in the off position before plugging the
plug in. Carrying the device with your finger resting on the on/off switch or plugging the plug in
with the device being switched on can lead to accidents.
•Remove all adjustment keys and wrenches before switching the device on. Any tool or wrench
being fixed at a rotating component of the device can lead to injuries.
•Do not stoop down too far. Stand safely and always keep your balance. Thus, you will be able
to control the device better if anything unforeseen happens.
•Wear suitable clothing. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep hair, clothing, and gloves
away from moving parts. Loose clothing, jewellery, or long hair might get caught by moving
parts.

•If a dust extraction and absorption unit can be connected to the device, make sure that such a
unit is properly connected and used. Using such a unit reduces the dangers caused by dust.
Careful use and handling of electric devices
•Do not overcharge the device. Use the appropriate electric device for the work to do. Any electric
device will work better and with more safety if used within its performance range.
•Do not use any electric device whose switch is damaged. Any electric device that cannot be
switched on and off with the help of the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
•Unplug the plug before making any adjustments, before changing accessories, or before putting
the device aside. This prevention measure avoids accidental starting of the device.
•Always keep electric devices out of children’s reach. Never allow anyone not familiarised with
the use of the device or not having read this instruction manual to use the device. Electric device
are dangerous if used by untrained persons.
•Maintain the device with care. Check all moving parts to know if they work properly and do not
jam, if parts are broken or damaged to such an extent that the device cannot work properly any
more. Have damaged parts immediately repaired before re-using the device. Many accidents
are caused by poorly maintained electric devices.
•Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Cutting tools maintained with care, having sharp cutting
edges, tend less to jamming and are easier to control.
•Only use electric devices, accessories, tools, etc. according to these instructions and to the
proper use of this type of device. Consider also the working condtions and the work to be per-
formed. Using any electric device for another application than the one that it is designed for can
become dangerous.
Maintaining and repairing
Only have the device repaired by a qualified person and only with original spare parts. Thus, the safety
of the device is most probable to persist.
Special safety instructions
•Do not work on any material that contains asbestos. Asbestos is known to cause cancer.
•This device is meant to dry-sand wood, plastic, metal, painter’s filling, and varnished surfaces.
•Devices that can be adjusted electronically can also be used for polishing.
•The use of the device will only be safe if you will have read the user’s manual and all safety
instructions and will strictly obey all instructions contained therein. Furthermore, you will have
to respect the general safety instructions. Before commissioning the device, have yourself in-
structed.
•If during work the cable is damaged or cut, do not touch the cable, but unplug the plug immedi-
ately. Never use the device with the cable being damaged.
•Device used outdoors can only be connected via an earth leakage circuit braker with a max.
triggering current of 30 mA. Only use extension cables designed for outdoor use.
•Wear protective goggles. It is also advisable to wear protective gloves.
•Always guide the cable so that it is behind the device.
•Only plug the plug in if the device is switched off.
•During use, hold the device firmly and keep a secure footing.
•With metal being grinded, flying spark are generated. Make sure that nobody is put into danger.
Because of fire hazard, no flammable materials are permitted near the device (within the reach
of flying sparks).
•Regularly empty the dust bag during and after use if the device is equipped with one. Pay special
attention when disposing of dust, as some material, in dusty state, can explode. Do in no case
throw sanding dust to the fire. Mixtures of dust particles and oil or water are self-igniting after
some time.
•Before putting the device aside, switch it off and wait for it to come to a complete standstill.
•Never allow children to use the device.

Attaching the sanding paper
1. Open the sanding paper clamps.
2. Take a sanding paper with the grit that you wish and attach it to the sanding disk. Make sure
that the holes in the paper are aligned to the holes of the sanding disk.
3. Fold the sanding paper on either side over the edge of the sanding disk.
4. One after the other, close the two paper clamps. Make sure that the ends of the sanding paper
are clamped. The sanding paper must rest flat on the sanding disk and must not come off.
Using the dust extraction connection
With the help of the dust extraction connection, an external vacuum cleaner can be connected to vacuum
the dust off the work surface. For that purpose, slide the vacuuming opening of any normal domestic
vacuum cleaner onto the dust extraction connection.
In case you wish to use the dust bag, simply slide it onto the dust extraction connection. Regularly empty
the bag to ensure optimal vacuuming.

Adjusting the speed
This device is equipped with a regulation knob to adjust the maximum speed. Turn the regulation knob
as shown on the switch (1) to adjust the desired speed.
Extracting dust and chips
•Dust generated during work can be harmful to your health, flammable, and/or explosive. Suita-
ble protection measures are required, e.g., using a suitable dust/chips extraction unit or wearing
a dust mask.
•Attention! Some dusts are known to cause cancer.
• Light-metal dust can burn or burst. Keep your work area clean, as material mixtures
are particularly dangerous.
• Fire hazard! Under unfavourable conditions, dust in the dust bag, a microfilter, a paper
bag (or filter bag or filter of the vacuum cleaner) can ignite itself when exposed for example to
flying sparks during grinding of metal; this danger is particularly high when the dust is mixed
with varnish or polyurethane, or other chemicals and the grinding material has become hot dur-
ing long work. Avoid any overhitting of the grinding material and the device and empty the dust
container before every break.
Maintaining and cleaning
Attention! Before working on the device (maintaining, repairing, cleaning it), pull out the plug.
•To ensure proper and safe work, always keep the device and vents clean.
•Before mounting a new drive belt, clean both drive belt wheels.
•First place the new drive belt onto the small drive belt wheel, than, while rotating the wheel by
hand, press it onto the big drive belt wheel. Re-place the wheel cover and fix it with the help of
the screws.
•Only qualified persons can perform repair works.
