•If a dust extraction and absorption unit can be connected to the device, make sure that such a
unit is properly connected and used. Using such a unit reduces the dangers caused by dust.
Careful use and handling of electric devices
•Do not overcharge the device. Use the appropriate electric device for the work to do. Any electric
device will work better and with more safety if used within its performance range.
•Do not use any electric device whose switch is damaged. Any electric device that cannot be
switched on and off with the help of the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
•Unplug the plug before making any adjustments, before changing accessories, or before putting
the device aside. This prevention measure avoids accidental starting of the device.
•Always keep electric devices out of children’s reach. Never allow anyone not familiarised with
the use of the device or not having read this instruction manual to use the device. Electric device
are dangerous if used by untrained persons.
•Maintain the device with care. Check all moving parts to know if they work properly and do not
jam, if parts are broken or damaged to such an extent that the device cannot work properly any
more. Have damaged parts immediately repaired before re-using the device. Many accidents
are caused by poorly maintained electric devices.
•Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Cutting tools maintained with care, having sharp cutting
edges, tend less to jamming and are easier to control.
•Only use electric devices, accessories, tools, etc. according to these instructions and to the
proper use of this type of device. Consider also the working condtions and the work to be per-
formed. Using any electric device for another application than the one that it is designed for can
become dangerous.
Maintaining and repairing
Only have the device repaired by a qualified person and only with original spare parts. Thus, the safety
of the device is most probable to persist.
Special safety instructions
•Do not work on any material that contains asbestos. Asbestos is known to cause cancer.
•This device is meant to dry-sand wood, plastic, metal, painter’s filling, and varnished surfaces.
•Devices that can be adjusted electronically can also be used for polishing.
•The use of the device will only be safe if you will have read the user’s manual and all safety
instructions and will strictly obey all instructions contained therein. Furthermore, you will have
to respect the general safety instructions. Before commissioning the device, have yourself in-
structed.
•If during work the cable is damaged or cut, do not touch the cable, but unplug the plug immedi-
ately. Never use the device with the cable being damaged.
•Device used outdoors can only be connected via an earth leakage circuit braker with a max.
triggering current of 30 mA. Only use extension cables designed for outdoor use.
•Wear protective goggles. It is also advisable to wear protective gloves.
•Always guide the cable so that it is behind the device.
•Only plug the plug in if the device is switched off.
•During use, hold the device firmly and keep a secure footing.
•With metal being grinded, flying spark are generated. Make sure that nobody is put into danger.
Because of fire hazard, no flammable materials are permitted near the device (within the reach
of flying sparks).
•Regularly empty the dust bag during and after use if the device is equipped with one. Pay special
attention when disposing of dust, as some material, in dusty state, can explode. Do in no case
throw sanding dust to the fire. Mixtures of dust particles and oil or water are self-igniting after
some time.
•Before putting the device aside, switch it off and wait for it to come to a complete standstill.
•Never allow children to use the device.
