1. ThepowerbuttonislocatedontheleftsideofDash.
2. WhenDashisturnedon,thepowerbuttonwillbeilluminated.
a. Iftheilluminatedpowerbuttonisnotblinking,Dashisreadytoplay.
b. Iftheilluminatedpowerbuttonisblinking,Dashneedstobecharged.
3. ChargingDash
a. Typicalchargetime,usingmosttabletUSBwallchargers,isabout6090
minutes.
b. UsetheincludedmicroUSBcabletochargeDash.
c. ThechargingportislocatedontherightsideofDash.
4. ConnectingDash
a. PutDashonthefloor,pressthepowerbutton,andmakesureBluetoothis
enabledonyourtabletorsmartphone.
b. OpentheWonderappandtapmaintitlescreentodismissit.
c. OntheLobbyScreen,taptheorange“+”iconintheupperrightcornertoopen
theconnectiondialogue.
d. Whenthedialogueopens,taptherobotimagetoconnect.
5. Updatingthefirmware
a. AnewDashrobotmayrequireafirmwareupdate.
b. Tapthe“Update”buttontostarttheupdate.
c. NOTE:YoucantakeadvantageofthisupdatetimetochargeDash.
6. PersonalizingDash
a. PersonalizingDashcanbeusefulfordistinguishingmultiplerobots.
b. GiveyourDashaname,selectadefaultcolorforDash’slights,andselecta
greetingstyleforwhenDashconnectstothedevice.

1. AccessingFreeplayMode
a. Freeplaymodeallowsyoutowriteyourownprograms.Thismodeisinitially
locked.Youcanunlockitbyplayingthefirst3challengesoftheScrollQuest.
b. OntheLobbyScreen,taptheScrollQuestareatoaccessthechallenges.
c. ThefirstfewScrollQuestchallengesareselfexplanatorytutorialsthatserveasa
greatwaytogetfamiliarwiththebasicsoftheWonderapp.
2. CreatingaNewProgram
a. UsethebackarrowinthetopleftcornertogobacktotheLobbyScreen.
b. OntheLobbyScreen,taptheunlockedFreeplayareatoenterFreeplaymode.
c. OntheFreeplaybrowserscreentapthe“MyFirstProgram”icon.
d. IdentifythesekeypartsoftheFreeplayScreen:
i. StartState
ii. RunButton
iii. Inventory
iv. Trash
e. Tapthe“Light”categorylabeloftheinventory.
f. DragaRedLightsstateontothemainarea.
g. DragthelittleorangelinkfromtheStartstatetotheRedLightsstate.NOTE:
Thedirectionofthelinkisimportant!Itdeterminestheflowdirectionofthe
program.
h. TaptheRunButtontostarttheprogram.Anindicatorringwithshowthecurrently
activestate.
i. TaptheRunButtonagaintostoptheprogram.
3. ExperimentwithCues.
a. Usingthesameprogramyoucreated,taptheCueiconbetweentheStartstate
andtheRedLightsstate.TheCueMenuwillbedisplayed.
b. Tapthedifferentcuestoseetheirdescriptions.
c. Tryselectinganewtypeofcueandclosethemenu.
d. TaptheRunButtonandperformtheappropriateactiontoactivatethecue.This
willsendtheprogramfromtheStartstatetotheRedLightsstate.
4. UseaSharingCode
a. InWonder,youcanshareprogramswithfriendsusinga4digitcode.
b. UsethecodebelowtodownloadasampleprogramthatwillmakeDashdance
andspeakaspecialmessagewhenyouclap.
c. OntheLobbyScreen,taptheunlockedFreeplayareatoenterFreeplaymode.
d. OntheFreeplaybrowserscreentapthe“EnterKey”icon.
e. Usethedevicekeyboardtoenterthecode:jvpp
f. TaptheSavebuttontodownloadtheprogramtoyourdevice.
g. Aftersaving,theprogramwillappearintheFreeplaybrowserscreen.Tapthe
pencilicontorenametheprogramto“FollowtheLeader”.
h. Taptheimageoftheprogramicontoloadtheprogram.
i. TaptheRunButtonandplaceyourhandinfrontofDash.Slowlymoveyourhand
forwardtogetDashtofollowit.ThegoalistoguideDashforwardbykeeping
yourhandaconstantdistanceinfront.Ifyourhandistoofarahead,Dashwill
stop.Ifyourhandistooclose,Dashwillstop.

c. Whentheplaylinecrossesthenote,Dashwillstrikethecorrectnoteonthe
xylophonewiththemallet.
d. Dragnotesupanddownthestafftochangethemelodyortapanexistingnoteto
removeit.
e. TapanywhereoutsidetheNoteStafftoexitEditmode.
5. LoopingaMelody
a. TapthenumberunderneaththelowerrightoftheNoteStafftochangethe
numberoftimesthemelodywillrepeatduringplayback.
b. Amelodycanbelooped14times.
6. AddingMotiontotheMelody
a. TapthebuttonunderneaththelowerleftsideoftheNoteStafftomakeDash
moveeachtimethemelodyislooped.Choosefromfourdifferentmotionoptions.
7. CreatingaSong
a. Tapthe“+”buttontoaddanewNoteStafftocreatelongersongs.
b. TheentiresongwillplaywhenthePlayButtonistapped.
c. TapanywhereoutsidetheNoteStaffstostopplayback.
