Intended use
Dear customer,
thank you for purchasing Bobby Joey from X4-TECH. This instruction manual will give
you a general idea of how this cassette player operates, as well as provide you with in-
formation on cleaning and safety procedures. To maintain this products condition and
ensure safe operation, we would like to request the owner to take time to read and fol-
low all instructions found in this manual carefully! Should any questions or suggestions
arise, then please contact your local dealer for further information.

cassette player!

The X4-TECH Bobby Joey is suitable for operation with commercially available music
cassettes.
Children can sing along to their favorite songs with the integrated microphone that
their voice together with music through the loudspeakers.
Bobby Joey is characterized by its sturdy and child-friendly design – the large buttons
provide for an easy and child-orientated operation.

This device is not suitable for children under 3 years of age.
Use only under the supervision of adults.
The toys are not in reach of small children.
Avoiding damage or malfunction
To avoid damage and malfunction, please adhere to the following information.
Neglecting or ignoring the safety instructions found in this manual could lead to inju-
ries, electric shock, as well as strongly damage the device.
› Avoid exposing this device to extreme temperatures, such as sources of heat or direct
sunlight. This could damage the electronics and housing.
› Contact with water should be absolutely avoided. Should liquid enter the devices in-
terior, do not turn it on. Let it dry completely and contact service personnel.
› Never drop or place any heavy objects on the device. .
› Protect this device against moisture, dust, steam and smoke. Longer periods of contact
with the above mentioned substances can lead to or cause electric shock.
› Never attempt to disassemble, repair or modify this device on your own in any way.
Refer all servicing to personnel, should problems or malfunctions occur.
› When this device is brought from a colder into a warmer area (e.g. when transporting),
allow the device to warm up to room temperature before turning it on.
› Please follow all attendant instructions, when using this device on an airplane.
Otherwise, considerable danger could arise, not only for you, but for other fellow pas-
sengers as well, due to eventual disturbances in operation.
› Cell phones used close to this device could lead to interference. In this case, increase
the distance between the cell phone and your device.

› If there is any doubt in the safety of this device (e.g. because of damage to the enclosure,
cables, an optional power adapter or the internal transformer), the device should not be
used until the damage has been properly removed.
› The internal transformer is not a toy.
› The device must not be connected to more than one power supply.
Avoid letting this device come within range of magnetic objects. This could result in
the loss of data.
Permissible operation and storage temperatures
Permissible storage temperatures are within the range of – 4 and 40 ° C.
Permissible operation temperatures are within the range of 5 and 35 ° C.
During operation, humidity should lie within the range of 10 and 75 %.
Protecting your child’s hearing
› Attention when using separate earphones/headphones! Higher volume levels can be
achieved, depending on the type of earphones/headphones used – this could lead to
permanent hearing damage, when used over a longer period of time! Should separate
earphones/headphones be used, then please make sure that your child only uses this
device for a short amount of time and not with a high regulated volume. Under these
circumstances, child supervision is recommended during these times.
› Begin with and try to maintain a comfortable volume level. Over a certain amount of
time your hearing will become accustomed to this volume level and volume sensitivity
will decrease, after which people regularly tend to increase the volume.This procedure
will undoubtedly lead to hearing loss.
› The higher the volume, the sooner the possibility of hearing impairment!

Inserting batteries
This cassette player requires 4 R14/UM-2 batteries with 1.5 V for operation.
Batteries are not included in delivery.
The battery compartment can be found on the back of the device.
Note
For safety reasons, the battery compartment lid can only be opened with a tool. The
screw rotation direction is marked with an arrow on the device. Press a screwdriver into
the opening marked with the screwdriver symbol and simultaneously disengage screw
and lid from the battery compartment.
Check battery polarity (+ and –) before inserting batteries. See the illustration on the
inside of the battery compartment lid for correct polarity.
Warning
Incorrectly inserting the batteries could cause damage to the device.
After correctly inserting batteries, replace the battery compartment lid by sliding it
onto the device again. The battery compartment is completely secured, when the lid
clicks into place.
Battery operation information
› If this device is not in use for a longer period of time, remove the batteries to prevent
damage to the device, should leakage occur.
› Batteries should be replaced if the sound becomes quieter or unclear.
› Operation with rechargeable batteries is possible.
› We recommend the use of high quality alkaline batteries for a longer operating time
and higher protections against leakage.

› Never mix old and new batteries.
› Never mix rechargeable batteries with other types of batteries.

› Non-rechargeable batteries must not be recharged.
› Batteries have to be removed before charging.
› Batteries have to be charged under adult supervision only.
› The supply terminals must not be short-circuited.
Always remove used batteries.

Power supply operation
You have the opportunity to use a power supply with this device as an alternative
to battery operation. Power supply devices are available as optional accessories in
stores.
› 6 V DC (direct current) of at least 300 mA
› Equivalent to CE directive 15
› Connect the power supply to the device and then to an electrical outlet.
› Make sure that the power supply plugs polarity corresponds with the input jacks on
the device.
› Reverse
› Only use the device with the recommended transformer.

› Press the EJECT button to open the cassette compartment.
› Insert a commercially available cassette into the compartment.
› Close the cassette compartment again.
› After pressing the PLAY button the volume can be now comfortably regulated.
› Press a button to activate one of the following functions as described below:

Eject Opens the cassette compartment door
Stop Stops playback
FFWD Fast forward
Play Starts playback
Note
The end of the cassette has been reached, when the PLAY button can not be pressed
down. We recommend the use of cassettes with a 2 x 30 minute playing time. Casset-
te tapes with longer playing times are made of thinner material, which eect perfor-
mance noticeably. These tapes often tend to get tangled up in the driving mechanics.
This cassette player operates with most commercially available recorded and unrecor-
ded tapes.
During playback your child can use the microphone to sing along to the music being
played. Your child’s own voice can be heard from the loudspeakers.
› Push the switch found on the microphone to„ON“, to turn the microphone on.
› Now the microphone can be spoken into.
› The microphone should always be turned o when only a cassette playback mode is
being used, to save on power consumption that discharges batteries faster.
