2 Installation
2.1 Connections and Adjustments
Caution!
Before plugging or unplugging any extension units, switch off the power to the base unit.
Pluggingorunpluggingextensionunitswithpoweronmayresultinpermanent and irreparable
damage tothebaseand/orextensionunits.
Thetablebelowprovidesanoverviewoftheconnectors.

Connector Description
IP(baseunitonly) UseanEthernetcabletoconnectthebaseunittotheIPnetwork,and(optionally)to
powertheunitoverEthernet(PoE).
IfusingPoE,fixtheincludedclampontheEthernetcableinsidethemountingbox.
PlacetheclampascloseaspossibletotheNetI/Ounit.
12V(baseunitonly) Optional:ifyouareusingalocalpoweradapterinsteadofPoE,connecttheDCpower
wirestothe0Vand+terminals.Respectthepolarity!
Ifusingalocalpoweradapter,fixtheincludedclamponthepowersupplyinput.Make
oneloopinsidetheclamp.

2.2 Replacing or Removing a Unit
Caution!

Itmay,forexample,damageinput/output1(relaypermanentlyactive)andsendincorrectsignalstotheADPRO
NVR+device.
Proceedasfollowsbeforepluggingorunpluggingextensionunits:
lIfthebaseunitispoweredviaalocalpoweradapter:unplug the power adapter fromthebaseunit.
lIfthebaseunitispoweredviaPoE:unplug the network (Ethernet) cable fromthebaseunit.
Afterpluggingorunpluggingtheextensionunits,plugthepoweradapterornetworkcablebackin.
2.3 Setting the Base Unit IP Address
ThedefaultIPaddressofthebaseunitis192.168.1.100withsubnetmask255.255.255.0.Thethreesystem
LEDsonthebaseunitwilllightupsimultaneouslyiftheunitisstillsetatthedefaultaddress.
TheextensionunitsdonothaveanIPaddress.Youassignthemanaddress(orsequencenumber)usingtheDIP
switchontheunit.Fordetails,seeConnections and Adjustmentsonpage12.
UsetheNetFindertooltolocateallbaseunitsonyournetworkandsettheirIPaddresses.Youcanfindthe
NetFindertoolontheDVDthatcomeswithyourADPRONVR+device,orontheXtralisSecuritysite
www.xtralissecurity.com.
Caution!
NetFinderwillnotdetectunitsbehindarouter.MakesurethatyourPCandtheunitsareinthesame
IPnetworksegment.
TosetthebaseunitIPaddress,proceedasfollows:
1. StartNetFinderonyourPC.
2. ClickSearch.
NetFinderwillindicatetheNetI/Ounitsingreen.Theunit'sfirmwareversionisindicatedbetween
parentheses.

3. Clickthedesiredunit,andthenclickAssign.
4. TypetheIPaddress,thesubnetmaskandthegateway,andthenclickOK.
Theunitstoresthesettingsinitsflashmemory.
2.4 Updating the Firmware
UsetheNetFindertooltoupdatethefirmwareonabaseunit.TheunitwillpreserveitsIPaddress,subnetmask,
andgatewaysettingsduringanupdate.
Thereisnofirmwareontheextensionunits.
Caution!
NetFinderwillnotdetectunitsbehindarouter.MakesurethatyourPCandtheunitsareinthesame
IPnetworksegment.ThefirmwareupdateusestheTrivialFileTransferProtocol(TFTP).Makesureit
isenabledonyourPC.Forinstructions,seeTroubleshooting Firmware Updatesonpage16.
Toupdatethebaseunitfirmware,proceedasfollows:
1. StartNetFinderonyourPC.
2. ClickSearch.
NetFinderwillindicatetheNetI/Ounitsingreen.
3. Clickthedesiredunit,andthenclickReboot.
4. SelecttheForce bootload mode option,andthenclickOK.
Ifsuccessful,themessageSuccess – Device rebooted willappear.
Theunitisnowdisabledandgoesinrebootmode.
5. ClickOK toclosethewindow.,andthenclickSearch toupdatethelistofdevicesinNetFinder.Theunitin
rebootmodewillappearinyellow(andwithnameHydraIO).
6. Clickthedesiredunit,andthenclickUpdate.

7. Selectthefirmwarefile(.img),andthenclickOpen.
Thesystemwillnowupgradetheunit'sfirmware.Whensuccessful,themessageTransfer successful will
appearintheWindowsCommandscreen.
2.5 Troubleshooting Firmware Updates
Ifupdatingthefirmwarefails,thencheckifTFTPisactiveinyouroperatingsystem,andcheckthenetwork
settings.
TFTP not active or blocked by firewall
NetFinderusesTFTP(TrivialFileTransferProtocol)toupdatethebaseunit'sfirmware.Youmayneedtoenable
TFTPinyourWindowsoperatingsystem.
Also,checkifyourfirewallisnotblockingtheTFTPapplication.
ToenableTFTPinWindows,proceedasfollows:
1. ChooseStart >Control Panel>Programs and Features.
2. ClickTurn Windows features on or off.
3. InthelistofWindowsfeatures,selecttheTFTP Client checkbox.
4. ClickOK.
Network issue
Forupdatingthefirmware,thePCthathasNetFinderinstalledandthebaseunitmustbeinthesamenetwork
segment.ThePCneedstoconnecttothebaseunit,butthebaseunitalsoneedstocommunicatebacktothe
PC.Ifupdatingthefirmwarefails,thenchecktheIPaddressandsubnetmaskofbothPCandbaseunit.
Forexample:thePCwithNetFinderhasIPaddress10.0.0.3andsubnetmask255.255.0.0.
ThebaseunithasIPaddress10.0.2.10andsubnetmask255.255.255.0.
ThePCcanconnecttothebaseunit,becauseitcanconnecttoanydevicewithIPaddressinthe10.0.x.xrange.
However,thebaseunitcannotconnecttothePC,asitcanonlyreachthe10.0.2.xrange.Inthiscase,the
firmwareupdatewillfail.
Tosolvetheissue:useNetFindertomodifythesubnetmaskofthebaseunit(inthiscaseto255.255.0.0),and
thenrunthefirmwareupgradeagain.
2.6 Input Circuits
BelowaretheNEOL,SEOL,andDEOLconfigurationsfortheinputs.UseSEOLandDEOLwithmonitored
inputsonly.
Forcorrectoperation,youalsohavetoindicatetheusedinputcircuitconfigurationintheXOclientsoftware.For
moreinformation,seetheXO Client Software User Manual(21796).

Can I upgrade legacy Net I/O units so they provide monitored inputs?
No.Theonlyunitsthatcanprovidemonitoredinputsarethenewunitswiththenewhardware.
Can I replace a legacy Net I/O unit by a new one?
Yes.Youcanjustswaptheunits.Makesuretoswitchoffpowerbeforeswapping.
Afterswapping,checktheunit'sconfigurationintheXOclient:makesuretheinputs/outputsareconfiguredas
before.IfusingXOversion4.02orabove,checkthatallinputsaresettoNEOL.Testifthenewunitfunctions
exactlyliketheoldone.
Can I install the new firmware V2 on a legacy base unit?
Yes,butitisnotrecommended.Althoughthenewfirmwareiscompatiblewiththelegacyunits,itdoesnot
changetheunit'sfunctionality:theinputsonthelegacyunitcanonlybeusedasunmonitoredinputslikebefore.
Also,theinputsonanyconnectedextensionunits(evennewones)canonlybeusedasunmonitoredinputsifthe
