Important Safety Instrucons
This quick guide contains instrucons, cauonary noces , and warnings that should be followed during the instal-
laon, operaon and storage of this product. Failure to explicitly follow the instruct ions, cauonary noces, and
warnings will void the product warranty.
CAUTIONARY NOTICES
• The XPD is designed for indoor use only in a controlled environment away from excess moisture, tempera-
ture extremes, conducve contaminants, dust or direct sunlight.
• Do not connect the XPD to an ungrounded outlet or extension cords or adapters that eliminate the connec-
on to ground.
• The power requirement for each piece of equipment connected to the XPD must not exceed the individual
outlet’s load rang.
• The total power requirements for equipment connected to the XPD must not exceed the maximum load rat-
ing.
• Do not drill into or aempt to open any part of the XPD housing. There are no user-serviceable parts
inside.
• Do not aempt to modify the XPD, including the input plugs and power cables.
• Do not aempt to use the XPD if any part of it becomes damaged.
• Do not aempt to mount the XPD to an insecure or unstable surface.
• Never aempt to install electrical equipment during a thunderstorm.
• Install the XPD away from; objects which give o excessive heat and areas, which are excessively wet.
• This PDU supports electronic equipment in oces, telecommunicaons, process control, medical,
• security, and IT applicaons.
• To reduce the risk of re, connect only to a branch circuit with over current protecon in accordance with
the Naonal Electric Code, ANSI/NFPA 70(3KVA)
• To reduce the risk of electrical shock with the installaon of this PDU equipment and the connected equip-
ment, the user must ensure that the combined sum of the AC leakage current does not exceed 3.5mA.
• Rack Mount Instrucons - The following or similar rack-mount instrucons are included with the installaon
instrucons:
A) Elevated Operang Ambient - If installed in a closed or mul-unit rack assembly, the operang ambient tem-
perature of the rack environment may be greater than room ambient. Therefore, consideraon should be given
to installing the equipment in an environment compable with the maximum ambient temperature (Tma) speci-
ed by the manufacturer.
B) Reduced Air Flow - Installaon of the equipment in a rack should be such that the amount of air ow required
for safe operaon of the equipment is not compromised.
C) Mechanical Loading - Mounng of the equipment in the rack should be such that a hazardous condion is not
achieved due to uneven mechanical loading.
D) Circuit Overloading - Consideraon should be given to the connecon of the equipment to the supply circuit
and the eect that overloading of the circuits might have on overcurrent protecon and supply wiring. Appropri-
ate consideraon of equipment nameplate rangs should be used when addressing this concern.
E) Reliable Earthing - Reliable earthing of rack-mounted equipment should be maintained. Parcular aenon
should be given to supply connecons other than direct connecons to the branch circuit (e.g. use of power
strips).

Receiving Inspecon
Aer removing your XPD from its carton, it should be inspected for damage that may have occurred in shipping.
Immediately nofy the carrier and place of purchase if any damage is found.
Warranty claims for damage caused by the carrier will not be honored.
The packing materials that your XPD was shipped in are carefully designed to minimize any shipping damage.
In the unlikely case that the XPD needs to be returned to XPD, please use the original packing material.
Since XPD is not responsible for shipping damage incurred when the system is returned, the original packing
material is inexpensive insurance.
PLEASE SAVE THE PACKING MATERIALS!
Standard Package includes:
a. PDU
b. Standard 19” rack, mounng hardware (if applicable)

Connecng
1. Connecng the Equipment
Plug the equipment into the output receptacles on the XPD. Do not uses, adapter plugs or surge strips on the
output of the XPD.
Ensure that the load does not exceed the maximum output rang of the XPD.
(refer to the informaon label on the XPD or the Electrical Specicaons
in this Quick Guide).
2. Connecng to the Power source
Aach the input plug of the XPD to a grounded outlet. Verify that the voltage and frequency rangs match that
of the ulity power, and then connect the AC Input power cord into a three- pole, three-wire easily accessible
dedicated (recommended) grounded receptacle or one that does not share a circuit with a heavy electrical load
only.
Cauon
1. Do not install this device if there is not at least 10 meters (30 feet) or more of wire between the electrical out-
let and the electrical service panel.
2. This device features an internal protecon that will disconnect the surge protecve component at the end of
its useful life but will maintain power to the load – now unprotected. If this situaon is undesirable for the appli-
caon, follow the manufacturer’s instrucons for replacing the device.
3. Indicator light illuminates means that AC Power goes to socket outlets and Surge Protecon funcon works.
Do not use this device when Indicator light OFF.
