Amplifier
CLASS AP100 is the first ge eratio of this
power
amplifier.
The amplifier is desig ed to provide maximum
sou d quality. All i puts a d speaker co ectio s
are gold plated a d of the highest quality.
A powerful toroidal tra sformer co tributes to a
effective power supply. Four power output
tra sistors per cha el make it possible to ha dle
high curre ts.
The first ge eratio is ow built by modules (for
future developme t) a d has got a lot of ew
compo e ts with improved quality.
Class A/Class AB
The amplifier ca be switched betwee class A a d
AB. This mea s you do ot always
have to use class
A mode if ot feasible.
CLASS A MODE
Class A mode i creases the
bias curre t through
the output tra sistors to achieve the best possible
performa ce.
The amplifier draws a lot of power
eve whe idli g, creati g lots of heat dissipatio
maki g it very hot.
CLASS AB MODE
Class AB is the sta dard operati g mode amo g
co ve tio al amplifiers. The maximum output
power is radically higher tha i Class A mode.
This mode is suitable whe you wa t to play loud
for lo g periods. The risk of ove
rheati g is
co siderably lower tha with class A operatio .
Class A mode uses a higher omi al
quiesce t curre t through the output
stage, which i tur produces more heat
dissipatio . The output tra sistors heat
the cooli g si k, a d the temperature is
measured by a se sor, feedi g the
i formatio back to the output stage, thus
regulati g the bias.
There is a butto for cha gi g betwee
A/AB o the fro t pa el.
Cabinet
The ew cabi et, with softer cor ers, is almost
completely made from solid al
umi ium, e ha ci g
the quality impressio as well as the mecha ical
stiff ess.
Outer i terfere ce is effectively shielded, a d the
alumi i
um co tributes to spreadi g the heat
ge erated i side. This improves the
heat
dissipatio , cooli g for the amplifier better.

Practice of sound / Installation and placement tips
This chapter co tai s commo i formatio o
loudspeaker placeme t a d i stallatio .
These are ge eral rules, so there are exceptio s.
In which room do
you achie e the best
sound?
No matter how good the equipme t is, i the wro g
liste i g e viro me t it will i evitably sou d bad.
There are some basic rules co cer i g a proper
loudspeaker i stallatio :
Reflections
Carpets, curtai s a d soft
fur iture absorb mid
ra ge a d high freque cy sou ds
, a d this is
ormally preferable. Big empty areas
, o the
co trary, reflect it a d produce
hard reflectio s
that may lead to a
blurry dialogue. Apart from
colouri g the sou d, also the perspective of the
sou d will deteriorate. Reflectio s i the room ca
roughly be compar
ed to the reflectio s that cause
ghost pictures o a TV scree .
Amplification of bass
frequencies
A loudspeaker that is placed ear a wall, ceili g or
floor will amplify lower f
reque cies i a sometimes
ot desirable way (si ce it may lead t
o a i disti ct
sou d reproductio
). This amplificatio becomes
eve more obvious if the loudspeaker is placed ear
a cor er. Thus, for a sou d as clear as possible, the
loudspeaker should be
placed at least 30 cm (about
12 i ch) away from the wall.
Some co structio s are desig ed to be placed close
to a wall.
Furniture
Be aware that fur iture may vibrate creati g
bad
sou d at loud bass levels.
Room dimension
Quadratic rooms
or rooms where the le gth is
exactly twice as lo g as the width should be
avoided, si ce they may create u wa ted
reso a ces.
Cables
Try to keep them as short as possible. By its
electrical parameters, a lo g co ductor will have a
bigger i flue c
e o the sou d tha a short o e. It
may also work as a a te a picki g up
various
sig als that may become a co sta t oise i a
active subwoofer.
Make sure that all co ectio s are clea a d ot
oxidized. All co ectio s should be mecha ically
stable, b
oth power, sig al a d loudspeaker cables.
Sig al cables should be separated from other
cables.

Page: 8 / 13
Front speakers
To achieve the best results
the fro t speakers
should be placed symmetrically
i fro t of the
liste er. The dista ce betwee the fro t sp
eakers
should be about
80% of the dista ce to the liste er.
I other words, the recomme ded a gle betwee
the fro t speakers is 45°.
Finally
Please remember that good sou d is a matter of
taste, so you have to experime t to obtai your
favourite o e. We wish you best of luck!

Mounting
Connect with the
correct phase
Always co ect usi g the correct phase, from the
+-pole o the amplifier to the +-
pole o the
loudspeaker a d respectively for the mi us (-) pole
If you by accide t co e
ct the other way,
there is o risk of damage. However, the
phase of the sig al will be ot correct,
resulti g i improper sou d.
O erload
With high power load u der lo g time there is risk
of overloadi g the driver a d/or the amplifier.
The initial playing
time
Amplifiers do ot ge erally eed a y “playi g i ”
time. Class A amplifiers eed a few mi utes
i
order to stabilize the operati g temperature.
Class A mode uses a higher omi al
quiesce t curre t through the output
stage, which i tur produces more heat
dissipatio . The output tra sistors heat
the cooli g si k, a d the temperature is
measured by a se sor, feedi g the
i formatio back to the output stage, thus
regulati g the bias.
The regulatio takes a few mi utes before
it becomes completely stable. Duri g this
time high liste i g volumes should be
avoided.
Bridge mode
Usi g the Bridge mode, co ecti g the Speaker
Left + a d Speaker Right +
. Cha ge the switch o
the rear pa el to use bridge mode.
Left i put is used for bridge mode.

Precautions
If the u it becomes u usually hot, you should
immediately cha ge the operatio mode to CLASS
AB by pushi g the correspo di g butto o the
fro t pa el.
This amplifier has a p
rotectio agai st overload
a d short-circuits.
Also, whe used u der ormal c
o ditio the u it
becomes
hot, so you should ot cover it or place it
i a locatio with reduced ve tilatio , i.e closed
boxes or arrow areas. Do ot place a y
other
equipme t
o the top of the amplifier. Neither
should it be placed ear other sources of heat.
Safety
Read the ma ual a d these precautio s before
taki g the u it i operatio .
Do ot expose the u it to high temperatures.
Avoid placi g the u it i closed racks, boxes etc.
Avoid moisture, liquids a d dust.
Do ot ope the cabi et while the AC power cord is
co ected.
Do ot tur o a d off the amplifier repeatedly i a
short period of time.
Make sure that o objects (coi s, eedles etc.) fall
i to the u it.
If you pla to leave the u it u used for a lo ger
time (whe o a jour ey for i sta ce), make sure
the AC power cord is ot co ected.
Whe co ecti g:
Make all the ecessary co ectio s before tur i g
the u it o . Never co ect loudspeaker- or sig al
cables while the amplifier is tur ed o .
