theextractormustnotdrawmorethan10amps.Iftheextractordrawsmorethan10
amps,theextractormustbepoweredfromaseparatepoweroutletandoperated
manually.

Turning onSmartBench
Assumingtheaboveinstructionshavebeenfollowedcorrectly,SmartBenchcannowbe
powered onbyreleasing the Emergency stop button. Toreleasethebutton,it mustbe
twisted clockwise.

Connecting toWifi
Connecting SmartBench your local network gives the following functionality:
•Software updates
•File transfer via your WiFi network

buttonin the lower right corner
Press the connectbutton.
Please note the system will then automatically reboot.
The console screen will go black as the console restarts –this is normal.

Update EasyCutsoftware
TocompletetheEasyCutsetup,updatethesoftware.Indoingthisyou’ll getthebenefitof
the following updates:
Additionalfunctionalitytoimproveourcustomersuserexperience
Virtual jig (from Q3 2019)
Cutting apps (from Q42019)
You’ll find the software update button in the Settings > Developer screen
PresstheGetSWupdatebutton
Thesystemwillautomatically connecttoourserver,download andupdatethelatest
versionof EasyCut, and then reboot.
It is important to note:
none of your jobfiles willbetouched, and
thelast set datum or park points will be retained

cutter tothe intended point, andtelling EasyCut whenyouare happy with the position.

Now check that your job location fits within SmartBench’s bounds:

MakesuretheX/YDatum(2)isintherightpositionandyourjobdoesnotreach
beyondthe extents of the X/Yspace.
If not, repeat theprevious steps toreposition thedatum.

Set Z datum (start point for the job)
OncetheX/Ydatumisdefined,thetipoftheroutercutterneedstoberegisteredrelative
tothe material.ThisisreferredtoassettingtheZdatum,andshouldbedonenear the X/Y
datum. Startbygoing to the X/Y datum:
•Go tothe Map Screen (1)
•Press‘Go toX/YDatum’ (2)toplacetheZHeadattheX/Ydatum

Nowyouneedto placethecutterattheheightyouwantyourZdatum(typicallyeitherthe
top or bottom surface of the material, depending on the job).
To set the Z height with the Z probe:
•Go tothe Move screen (1).
•Takeout the Z probe plate from its holder.
•Remove the front of the dust shoe.
•Place the Z probe plate directly below the cutter tip.
•Makesurethebackoftheprobeplateliesflatonthesurfaceyouaretrying
toprobe.Theprobe plate shouldbesilversideup.
•Ifthetipofthecutterisn’t closetothetopofthestock,manuallymoveit
downwards to about 10mm (3/8’’) away from the probe using the Z down
button (2). Take care not toovershoot!
•Whenclose,pressthe‘Z0’button(3).TheZheadwillautomaticallylower
untilthetooltiptouchestheprobeplate(ontouching,anelectricalcircuitis
closed,thesoftwareremembersthisposition,andsubtractsthethicknessof
the probeplate).
•Whenthe cutter retracts, the Z datum is set.
