Electricalsafety
This appliance mustonlybeinstalled by a quali-
fiedelectrician.For reasonsofelectricalsafety,
built--inappliances mustonlybeinstalledintothe
standard,matching mounting cabinetorworktop.
Onlyusethe hob when ithasbeen fullyinstalled.This
will preventyou fromcoming intocontactwithcurrent--
carrying parts.
Alsofollowthe information given inthe accompanying
InstructionsforUse and forInstallation
Damaged hobswithcracks orbreakagesinthe glass
ceramic surfacemustnotbe connected tothe mains.
For reasonsofsafety,repairstothe appliance,and in
particulartothe current--carrying components,must
onlybe carried outbyqualified electriciansortrained
CustomerServicetechnicians. Otherwise,considera-
ble dangercouldresult forthe user. Incase ofmalfunc-
tion,contactourCustomerService departmentdi-
rectly.
If the glass--ceramichob isto be used inthe vicinityof
aradio,TVorothertransmitting device,itmust firstbe
clarified whetherthis could affectitsoperation.
The applianceisonlydisconnected fromthe mains
when the fuseisturned off orthe mains connection is
interrupted.
Use and Operation
Preventsmall children fromtouching the glass--cera-
mictop when in use.Asarule, they should be kept
awayfromboththe hob and frompotsand pans.
Children can also burnthemselvesbypulling pansor
potsoff the hob.
The cooking zonesheatup quicklywhen theyaretur-
ned on. Onlyturnthemon ifyou have placed a sauce-
pan on the cooking area.
Exercisecarewhen working with a hothob,orhotpots
orpans.Thereisalways adangerofbeing burned
The residualheatindicatorintegrated inthe electro-
nics tells you whetheracooking zone is still hot.
Incase a pan/potisleft on the cooking zone the resi-
dualheatindicatorcan switch off tough isthe cooking
zone still hot fromthe pan with hotcontents.
Inthe eventofa powerfailure,all settingsand displays
will be lost. Becareful,because hotcooking zoneswill
no longerbe indicated bythe residualheatindicator.
If you use a socketclosetothe hob, takecarethat the
cable of the appliance doesnot touchthe hotsurface
of the hob.
Do notstore anytemperature--sensitive orinflamma-
blematerials(such asdetergents,spray cans)inthe
drawersorthe cupboardsunderneaththe built--in hob.
The cooking surfacemustnotbe used asastorage or
working area.
Attention!Neverlookdirectlyintothe light fromthe
halogen cooking zone.
Neverleavethe hob unattended when working with
oilsand fats,due tothe dangerof fire.
Neveruse plasticoraluminiumfoil disheson the hob.
Theymeltathigh temperatures,and can damage the
glass--ceramicplate.
Neithersugar (solid orliquid)norplastic should be allo-
wed tocomeintocontactwiththe hotsurface of the
hob.
When the platecoolsdown,cracks orbreakages could
occurinthe glass--ceramicplate. If sugarorplastic
should accidentally comeintocontactwiththe hothob,
the latter mustnotbe switched off foranyreason,but
the sugarorplasticremnantsmustbe removed with a
scraperwhilestill warm.Protectyourhandsfrom
burns.
To avoidscratching the surface of the glass--ceramic
hob,onlyuse potsand panswithflatbasesand without
rough edges.
The ceramichob surfaceisresistant to extremetem-
peratures.Neithercold norheatcan harm it. Avoid
dropping anything on the hob.Pointimpacts,e.g.by
droppingasaltshaker,can causefissuresand cracks.
Adefective hob surfacecould allowfood which has
boiled overto penetratethrough the hob,and contact
the electricalparts.
If any cracks appearon the hob surface, the hob must
be switched off immediately.Disconnect the appliance
fromthe mainsand inform the service department.

Followthe Care and Cleaning instructionsforthe
glass--ceramic surface.Wewill acceptno liabilityfor
improperuse.
Afteruse,check that the applianceis switched off.
Cleaning
No heating elementshould be switched on whileclea-
ning.Ensurethat the cooking areashavecooled down
sufficiently(waituntil the residualheatlamp goesout)
sothat thereisno dangerofburning.
Always keep the glass--ceramic surfaceclean.
For reasonsofelectricalsafety,steamand high--pres-
surecleaning devicesmustnotbe used forcleaning
the hob.
Disposal
Please dispose ofpacking materialand any
old appliancesaccording tothe relevantre-
gulations.Please observe nationaland re-
gionalregulationsand the materialdesigna-
tion (materialseparation,wastecollection,
materialdisposalpoints).

Beforethe firstuse
Cleaning for the first
time
The cooking surfaceshouldbecleaned before useto
remove anytracesof the production process.
Washthe glass--ceramic surface and framewith hot
waterand rinsing agent, and wipe dry.
Heating up for the first
time
Tocheck the cooking zones,briefly switch each one
on.
The Cooking Zone
Ceramic cooking
surface
The cooking surfaceismade ofceramicglass.The
surfaceispore--free and alsoinsensitivetorapidchan-
gesintemperature.Pots can therefore be moved from
a hot toacoldzone.
When switching on the cooking zone theremaybe a
briefhumming sound fromthe heaters.Thisisnormal
and disappearswhen the cooking zone haswarmed
up.
Keep all objectsand materialswhichcan melt
awayfromthe cooking surface,e.g.plastics,
aluminiumfoil.
Takecarewhen preparing food ordrinks containingsu-
gar.Ifanything of thisnature accidentally comesinto
contactwiththe ceramic surface,itmustbe scraped
off immediatelywhile still hotand wiped away
cleanlyto avoid damage tothe surface.
Touch Controls
The hob isoperated bythe touchcontrolslocated at
the front, each ofwhich hasitsown display.

Residualheatindicator
An“H”will lightup inthe powerlevel indicatorif the
temperature of the corresponding cooking zone sur-
face above 60°C.When the cooking zone hasbeen
switched off, the lampremainson until temperature
fallsbelow60°C.
Payattention when a pan/potisleft on the coo-
king zone that the residualheatindicatorcan
switch off though isthe cooking zone still hot
fromthe pan with hotcontents.
Operation
Thetouchcontrolsmustbepressedforatleast
1 second to be activated, whichwill beindicated
by anacoustic signal.
Switching the
appliance on
1.Press the hob ON/OFF control(1)foratleast1se-
cond.
Ahorizontal line appearsin each powerlevel indicator
(3),and the dot(13)flashes.
The nextinputmust take placewithinthe
next10 seconds,otherwisethe hob will
switch off again.
Switching on the
cooking zones
Having switched on the appliancewiththe hob ON/
OFF control(1),you can nowswitch on the various
cooking zoneswithinthe next10 seconds.
1.Press the cooking zone control(2)forthe required
cooking zone.
«0» lightsup on the corresponding powerlevel in-
dicator.At the sametime,dot(13)lightsup toindi-
catewhichcooking zone isactive.
2.Selecta powerlevel(1--9)using the decreasecon-
trols(5/4).
If you selct the powerlevelusing the increase
control, the boost facilitywill be activated (see
pages66).
The increase/decreasecontrols(5/4)are
equipped witharepeat function.Ifone of the
keys is continuallypressed, thepowerlevelwill
be increased.
Onlyone cooking zone control(2)can be ac-
tive atatime, thatis,onlyone dot(13)can be
litup.

Selecting the powerlevel
Table
The figuresinthe following table areintended asa
guide only.The powerlevelrequired forthe cooking
process dependson the qualityof the potand on the
type and quantityof food being cooked.
In orderto avoidthe fatorjuicesfrom meatburning a
small amountofliquidmaybe added tofrying pan/sau-
cepan.
During frying the food shouldbeturned frequently.
If large quantitiesofmeatorfish are being cooked,e.g.
1kgtheseshouldbecooked inthe oven.

Switching off the
cooking zones
1.The desired cooking zone mustbe activated,i.e
dotof the corresponding cooking zone mustbe lit.
2.Using the decreasecontrol(4),run the powerlevel
downto «0».
The powerlevel will be automatically switched off
aftera delayof3seconds.
To switch off quickly:
1.The desired cooking zone mustbe activated,i.e
dotof the corresponding cooking zone mustbe lit.
2.Bypressing the increase and decreasecontrols
(5/4)simultaneously, the cooking zone will be
quickly switched off.

Ahorizontal line appearsinthe displaywhen the resi-
dualtemperature doesnotexceed 60 °C.
“H“appearsinthe displayif the residualtemperature
isabove 60°C(see Residual Heat Indicator).
Trytoswitch off the cooking zone early,in or-
dertomake use of the residualheat.
Switching off the hob
The appliancecan be switched off atanytime using
the hob ON/OFF control(1).
Over--cooking protec-
tion
If one or moretouchcontrolsare activated for
a period longerthan 20 seconds(bya pan,cut-
lery,overflowing food,etc.)the hob switches
off completely.
Safetycut--out
If, one or morecooking zonesare notswitched off, the
safety cutoutwill be automaticallyoparated afteraset
time(see table below).

Dual--ring cooking zone
The front--left and rear--rightcooking zoneshavethe
possibilityofcooking with onlythe inner ring (Fig.4)or
withthe outer ring aswell (Fig.5),depending on the
cooking utensil used.
Selecting the dual--ring
cooking zone
1.The desired dual--ring cooking zone (front--left or
rear--right) mustbe activated.
The dotof the corresponding cooking zone must
be litup.
2.Selected the desired powerlevel(1--9).
3.Switchonthe second heating ring using the dual--
ring key(6).
The control lamp(10)lightsup,and the outer ring is
switched on.

Safetylock -- barring the appliance or
the cooking zones
Locking the appliance
Withthe locking control(9),you can completelybarthe
use of the hob Thisfunction can beusedas a child
safetylock.
If you do notswitch off the Safetylock before
switching off the hob, the Safetylock will stillbe
activewhen you switchonthe hob again.
No othercontrolcan be operated until you
switch off the Safetylock.
Locking (barring)the
individualcooking zo-
nes
If you areworking with one or morecooking zones,you
can lock eachindividualcooking zone.
The corresponding cooking zone mustbe active.The
dot(13)islit, and a powerlevel is selected.
-- Bypressing the respectivecooking zone control
(2)again, the locking systemisactivated.
The dot(13)inthe powerlevel indicatorgoesout.
-- If the cooking zone control(2)ispressed again, the
dotappears,and the cooking zone can again be
used.
The locking systemprotectsthe following keys of the
locked cooking zone fromunintentionaloperation:
Keys 4,5,6,7.
The timerkey(7)can be operated,however,
and can be set(see «The TimerFunction asan
Egg--timer»chapter),buthasno influence on
the barred cooking zone.

Boost facility
Thisfacilityprovidesan initialheatboost tothe cooking
zone,beforeitsresetstothe lowerpowerlevelselec-
ted.The length of the heatboostisdependenton the
powerlevelselected as showninthe table below.
Selecting the boost
facility
1.Press the cooking zone control(2)of the required
cooking zone.
2.Using theincrease control(5),selecta powerle-
velbetween1--8.You have 10 secondsinwhich
toselect the correctpowerlevel.
After5seconds,«A» appearsinthe powerlevel.The
boost facilityhasbeen activated.
The cooking zone will nowheatup atpowerlevel9,
and,afterthe defined time(see Table 1),will switch
downtothe selected powerlevel.
Example:You selectpowerlevel6.After5
seconds, the boost function switcheson.
Withthis setting, the cooking zone will
heatup for2.5minutesatpowerlevel9,
and will then switch downto power
level6.
The automaticheat--up function will notbe
activatedifyou:
=> selecta powerlevelusing the Minus key(4)
=> selectpowerlevel9

If the powerlevel isincreased using the inreasecontrol
(5), the timethathasalreadyexpired will be taken into
consideration inthe calculation of the newdefined ti-
me/powerlevel.
Example:You haveselected powerlevel1
(boost--1minute),and wait30 seconds.
If you then switchto powerlevel4
(boost--6.5minutes), the heat--up time
will continue for6minutes(6.50 minus
0.50).
Changing the powerlevel withthe decrease
control(4)will switch off the automaticheat--up
function.
Take advantage of
the residualheatby
the Boostfacility
Forsaving energymake use of the residualheatby
continuing cooking on a still hotcooking zone.This
meansthe timeforthe boost facilitywill becomeshor-
terdepending on the temperature of the still hotcoo-
king zone.
Switching off the Boost
facility
As soon as“A“appearsinthe PowerLevel indicator:
1.The cooking zone required mustbe activated.
The dot(13) mustbe litinthe respectivecooking
zone.
2.Press the decreasecontrol(4).

The TimerFunction
Thisfunction makes cooking easierforyou.You don’t
havetoremainclosetothe cooking zone throughout
the wholecooking process: the cooking zone will be
automatically switched off at the selected time.
When no cooking zone hasbeen programmed, the ti-
merfunction can be used asan «egg--timer»(see
«The TimerFunction asan Egg--timerchapter»).
Switching the Timer
function on
1.The desired cooking zone mustbe activated.
The dot(13) mustbe litinthe respectivecooking
zone.
2.Selecta powerlevelbetween 1--9.
3.Press the Timerkey(7).
The timerdisplay(8)nowshows«00».
4.Using the increase/decreasecontrols(5/4),enter
the cooking time desired (01 to99minutes).
The Timerfunction startsautomaticallyafterafewse-
conds.
The control lamp(11)lightsup ateachcooking zone
thathasbeen programmed withthe timer.
To enterthe cooking timemore quickly,hold
down eitherthe increase ordecreasecontrols
(5/4) respectively.
Changing the setcoo-
king time
The cooking timecan be subsequently changed where
necessary:
1.The desired cooking zone mustbe activated
The dot(13) mustbe litinthe respectivecooking
zone.
2.Press the Timerkey(7).
3.Using the increase/decreasecontrols(5/4),select
a newcooking time.
To enterthe cooking timemore quickly,hold
down eitherthe increase/decreasecontrols
(5/4) respectively.
Calling up the current
cooking time
-- Tocall up the programmed cooking timeremaining
forthe respectivecooking zone,press the corres-
ponding cooking zone key(2).

The TimerFunction asan Egg--Timer
The Timerfunction can be used asan «egg timer»,as
long asthe timerisnotalreadybeing used foracoo-
king zone.
Setting the egg timer
If the appliance is switched
off:
1.Press the PowerOnkey(1).
2.Press the Timerkey(7).
3.Enterthe desired time using the increase--de-
creasecontrols(4/5).
If one ormore cooking zones
are alreadyin use:
1.Lock all cooking zones(see the «Locking (barring)
individualcooking zones»chapter).
No decimalpoints(13)shouldbelitup in anyof the
powerlevel indicators(3).
2.Press the Timerkey(7).
3.Enterthe desired time using the increase--de-
creasecontrols(4/5).
Switching the egg ti-
meroff
If the time hasalreadyexpi-
red...
«00» flashesfor10 seconds,

Energyconsumption
Tosave energy,you should...
-- use only cooking and frying utensilswithsmooth,
flatbottoms.
-- place potsand pansin position beforeswitching on
the cooking zone.
-- Whereverpossible,coverpotsand panswith a lid.
-- switch off the cooking zone a fewminutesbefore
the end of the cooking time,in ordertomake use
of the residualheat.
-- usethe residualheatof the cooking zonesforkee-
ping food warm orfor melting.
-- Position potsand pans centrallyon the cooking zo-
nes.
Saucepansand frying
pans
Saucepansand frying pans should notbe smallerthan
the cooking zone,and preferablynotmorethan
10--15 mm largerthan the diameterof the cooking
zone.
Always usecooking and frying utensilswithsmooth,
flatbottoms.
The bottoms should always be clean and dry.Cook
withalidin place.
Check that the bottomsofutensilsaresmooth and un-
damaged;bottomswith burrsand sharp edgeswill
scratchthe ceramicglass surface.
Scratches can alsobecaused bygrainsofsand (e.g.
originating fromthe previouswashing ofvegetables),
drawn overthe cooking surfacewiththe pan,orby

Stainremoval
·Lightmetallic stains(aluminium residues)can
be removed fromthe cooking zone with a ceramic
hob cleaning agentsuch asHob Britewhen cool.
·Sugarsolutions,food stuffswithahigh sugar
content,plastics,orkitchenfoil -- mustbe re-
moved immediatelywith a scraper. If thistype of
soilage isnotremoved immediatelyitcan causeir-
reparable damage tothe ceramic surface.When
the surface has cooled wipe overwith a dampcloth
and Hob Brite.
