1. ABOUT PRINTER
1.1. BASIC INFORMATION ABOUT PRINTER
ZEKA LP is a printer intended for printing of graphic images and small
sized labels on label and thermal paper. It is perfect assistant when printing one-
type information, well shaped and with variables and counters.
In the printer memory it is possible to store the size, placement and
general look of graphic elements with command file. That makes the work
easier, especially when big quantity of labels must be printed. PCX file format
support, which ZEKA LP offers, allows design of labels freely with proper
software for Windows or other operating system like Linux, FreeBSD, etc. Also
load your preliminary designed label into the printer memory.
Big ease in the label designs are the 5 built-in matrix fonts and opportunity
to rotate and scale. User fonts, which are easy to be used like the built-in ones,
can be also easily integrated.
ZEKA LP supports all most popular barcode standards and that makes it
perfect assistant for warehouses, shops and all other sites working with
barcodes.
The final result is fast and easy to get labels with quality close to laser
printer!
In need outside it’s normal mode ZEKA LP offers and opportunity to print
out information from software like MSWord, OpenOffice.org, Wordpad, etc., if
you have already installed the appropriate driver included in the package.

1.2. DELIVERY SET

To guarantee correct work of label printer ZEKA LP, it must be installed on
stable and flat surfaces, like desk, table, raft, bar, etc. It must be far enough from
heating devices, wet, direct sunlight and sources of dust or other bad substances.

2.1. COMMON APPEARANCE AND BASIC PARAMETERS OF ZEKA LP

Basic technical and functional characteristics:
•Easy paper load mechanism. High-speed noiseless LINE-THERMAL printer
APS-MP2261 with 8 dots per mm printing resolution and print speed till
100 mm/sec. Interface to connect with PC to control ZEKA LP with
appropriate software.
•Control panel with 2 buttons for emergency (test) control and light
indication for readiness, overall error and missing of label or thermal paper.

2.2. CONTROL PANEL
• Description of light indication:
• Label paper mode:
RED LIGHT, when next label can’t be found. New roll of paper must be
loaded and positioned by pressing the left button.
• Thermal paper mode:
RED LIGHT, when paper ends and/or printer cover is opened.
• Description of button actions:
• Normal mode:
Left button (5) positioning next label when label paper is used, and
moving paper till button is pressed when thermal paper is used.
Right button (6) when is pressed once prints the active label.
Pressing and holding till green light appears (more than 3 seconds) is for
initialization of the active mode, and that can be useful with commands like
loading of graphic or font, when not all required information is provided.
• Holding while turning on printer:
Left button (5) prints out diagnostic information and goes into special
diagnostic mode (dump mode).
Right button (6) hold (for more than 3 seconds) initializes of all data in
printer to default values.
2.3. CONNECTING ZEKA LP
In socket (1) connect adapter, included in delivery set, which supplies the
printer with electricity. In socket (2) connect included in the delivery set
interface cable and socket (4) connect to USB port (alternative for standard
connection to serial port).

2.4. PAPER LOADING AND REPLACEMENT
ZEKA LP controls availability of paper roll, and if paper roll is missing the
printer blocks.
To continue the work following steps must be accomplished:
Open the printer cover using the handle;
To load new label roll it is necessary to remove
completely the old one;
The new roll must be cleared from overlay folio and
then put in the roll nest with labels inside;
The free end of paper roll must be pulled to position so
it can be set by the printer cover;
Close the printer cover and keep the end of the paper.
After that the printer continues any unfinished jobs.
ATTENTION!!! When loading paper roll, do not touch the
thermal printer head of the printing mechanism. It may
cause permanent damage or may cause irregular printer
work.

Width of paper roll: 57 + 0/-1 mm
Roll lift: 60-75 μm
Roll diameter: 65 mm or less

3. SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
•Do not install the printer near sources of water and do not allow contacts
with water or other liquids.
•Do not install the printer on unstable surfaces to avoid its overturning.
•Do not install the printer near sources of heat.
•Do not install the printer on vibrating or vibration-conducting surfaces if
possible.
•Plug the printer into electric outlets with 220V voltage and 50Hz frequency.
Turn the PRINTER off from its power switch before plugging or unplugging
it.
•Use only standard electric plugs. If the plug does not meet the requirements
contact a qualified electrician to fix it.
•Should an extension cord be used it must also meet the same standard
requirements. Do not plug electric motors, heaters or other devices with
high consumption of electricity into the same extension cord.
•Do not use defective power supply cables; do not press or bend the power
supply cable of the printer.
•Do not insert metal objects into the printer – electrical shock hazard.
•Unplug the printer before cleaning it and do not use aggressive detergents.
•Do not try to repair the printer on your own. If there are any problems
contact the authorized service organization.
•Unplug the printer and contact the authorized service organization in any of
the following cases:
oThe power supply cable of the printer is damaged;
oThe printer is splashed with liquids;
oThere is a mechanical damage of the printer;
oprinter does not operate normally.

4. ZEKA LP MANAGMENT
The label printer management is carried through commands via serial or
USB interface. Four data transfer baud rates, determinable by switches or
interface command, are supported. The possible rates are 9600, 19200, 57600
and 115200 bps. The printer uses hardware data transfer protocol, which allows
direct control from DOS (PC connection), but Xon/Xoff protocol is also
supported.
The commands to ZEKA LP are composed by single text line ending with
LF (ОАh). They consists one or two letters followed by certain parameters
separated by commas. Commands separated by empty character (space) are
taken as syntax errors. The printer is case sensitive. Command starting with ( ;
) character, as well as unknown or invalid command, won’t cause printer action.
Brief command description sorted alphabetically and by categories can be found
in chapters 5 and 6 and detailed description in chapter 7.
Using of application software (AS) is the quickest and most reliable way to
work with ZEKA LP. Through application software it is possible to configure
visually the look of any label before it’s been uploaded to the printer, as by this
way time and means are saved. It is not necessary to know the command
language in details to work with AS, because most configurations are done
visually by simplified tools.
It is possible to prepare the print information preliminary in text format
file and to send it through the serial interface.
