Overview
The PPS250 is a power module for ZyXEL Ethernet Power-over-
Ethernet (PoE) switches, such as the GS2200-24P. It provides additional
external PoE power budget on top of the internal power budget of the
switch. The switch supplies power to powered devices (PD) connected to
it.
A powered device (PD) is a device such as an access point or a switch,
that supports PoE (Power over Ethernet) so that it can receive power
from another device through a 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet port.
In the following figure, the PPS250 is connected to the switch so that it
provides enough power to devices connected to it.
Aside from minimizing the need for cables and wires, PoE removes the
hassle of trying to find a nearby electric outlet to power up devices. The
PPS250 also ensures that the fans work continuously to prevent the
switch from overheating. Once the PPS250 is connected to the GS2200-
24P, the GS2200-24P can provide full power to each port (15.4 Watts).

Hardware Connections
The PPS250 is hot-swappable.
1. RPS CONNECTOR: Use the RPS cable provided to connect the
PPS250 to your ZyXEL switch as shown below.
The RPS connector should only be used with the PPS250. Do not insert
other connector cables to the PPS250.
2. POWER: Use the power adaptor provided to connect an appropriate
power source to this socket. The LED light turns green once the
PPS250 is ready.
The PPS250 can be used for the GS2200-24P only, and
both of these devices should be used, repaired, and
maintained by a qualified technician.
