Overview
The SHD1111 is a Z-WaveTM enabled door/window detector which is fully
compatible with any Z-Wave enabled network. It monitors the closing
and opening of doors and windows. If the door/window is opened or
closed, the SHD1111 will send alerts to associated devices for further
actions, such as trigger lighting to power on/off automatically or activate
the burglar alarm.
Inserting the Batteries
Follow the steps below to inserting
batteries into the SHD1111.
1. Remove the screw from the bottom of
the SHD1111.
2. Detach the back cover.
3. Insert 3 AAA-size 1.5V batteries into
the battery compartment.
Note: Alkaline batteries are highly
recommended.
Note: To replace the batteries, remove the
old ones and wait for 5 seconds before
inserting the new batteries.
Adding to Z-Wave Network
The SHD1111 can be associated in a group with up to 5 nodes. All
devices associated with SHD1111 will be operated when the SHD1111
sends an alert after the door/window has been opened/closed.

Installation
Before installing the SHD1111, you should add it to a Z-Wave network for
proper functions. See Adding to Z-Wave Network.
1. Detach the magnet from the SHD1111. The LED illuminates for 2
seconds to ensure that the SHD1111 and the magnet respond to
each other properly.
Note: Do not press the tamper switch on the back of the SHD1111 at this stage.
It is used for inclusion/exclusion to Z-Wave network.
2. Mount the back cover of the SHD1111 on the fixed part of the door/
window frame with the screws. Do not over tighten the screws as this
may damage the casing.
3. Fasten the SHD1111 to its back cover and secure it.
4. Use adhesive tapes or 19mm fixing screws to affix the magnet to the
moving part of the door/window opposite of the SHD1111. Make sure
the matching line on the magnet is aligned with the SHD1111 and at
the right direction as shown in the figure below.
Association 1. Have the Z-Wave Controller
enter association mode.
2. Press the tamper switch 3
times within 1.5 seconds to
enter association mode.
• The Z-Wave Controller will display whether the inclusion/exclusion of the
node ID has succeeded or failed.
• For the first 10 minutes after you install the batteries and include the
SHD1111 to your Z-Wave network, it can associate with the Z-Wave
Controller and other nodes automatically. After 10 minutes, you need to
follow the steps in the above table to enter association mode.

66
Note: The magnet and SHD1111 should be less than 10mm apart to respond to
each other properly.
Recommended Mounting Location
The SHD1111 is for indoor use only. Mount the SHD1111 on doors/
windows that need to trigger actions when opened or closed. SHD1111
is usually mounted on front and back doors to provide users the ease of
automation or protection. Additional detectors may also be installed
where security is required.
Note: Be careful when affixing the SHD1111 to a metal frame, or mounting
within 1 meter of metalwork (i.e. radiators, water pipes, etc) as this could
affect the radio range of the device. If necessary, you can space the
magnet and SHD1111 away from the metal surface using a plastic or
wooden spacer.
Operations
1. The SHD1111 allows 10 minutes for adding to a Z-Wave network at
inital power up.
2. The SHD1111 goes to sleep mode after 10 minutes if it isnot added to
a Z-Wave network. You can wake it up by pressing the tamper switch
until the LED lights up.
Magnet

7
The SHD1111 goes to sleep mode again after 10 seconds. Press the
tamper switch three times within 1.5 seconds to extend the
awakened time to 10 minutes.
3. If the tamper switch is not pressed, the SHD1111 stays in testing
mode. Detach the magnet from the SHD1111. The LED illuminates
for 2 seconds to confirm that the SHD1111 and the magnet respond
to each other properly.
4. If the tamper switch is pressed, the SHD1111 enters normal mode
and the LED does not illuminate when it is triggered to save battery
power. It lights up only when the battery level is low.
