WEEE Statement English
In order to cope with the increasing waste electrical and electronic equipment, reduce the use of landfill and
incinerator, and prevent the harmful matter of waste equipment from entering the environment, the European
Union (EU) has set the Directive on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) asking manufacturers
to collect, recycle and treat waste electrical and electronic equipment properly. Member nations already
established their free of charge recycle systems of WEEE before August 13, 2005. Accordingly, 2SAN has to
be responsible for recycling all products exported to Germany. You can return your 2SAN product that needs
recycling to a local collector.

Afin de gérer la quantité croissante de déchets électriques et électroniques, de réduire l’utilisation des
décharges et des incinérateurs et d’éviter que des déchets nocifs ne polluent l’environnement, l’Union
Européenne a publié la directive WEEE sur les déchets électriques et électroniques. Celle-ci spécifie que les
fabricants doivent collecter, recycler et traiter l’équipement électronique et électrique usagé. Depuis le 13 août
2005, les pays membres ont mis en place un système de recyclage gratuit selon le WEEE.
De ce fait, 2SAN est responsable du recyclage de tous les produits exportés vers l’Allemagne. Vous pouvez
mettre au rebut votre équipement 2SAN usagé dans votre centre local de recyclage.
Pour plus d’informations sur les lieux de mise au rebut des équipements usagés destinés au recyclage,
veuillez contacter votre mairie, votre service de traitement des déchets ménagers ou le magasin où vous avez
acheté le produit.

1. Introduction
1.1 Product Overview
Digital technology for DVR (Digital Video Recorder) represents the
better recording quality, control and functionality as well as remote
viewing. Unlike PC-based DVR, 2SAN’s embedded DVR enjoys much
more benefits that contain NO software at all on the hard drives, but
being installed in the flash memory on the board. It indicates more
stability and reliability.

2. Quick Installation

2.2 How to install
STEP 1. Connect cameras
Connect cameras to the video BNC inputs marked Video In
1~8. Use the bottom row of video BNC outputs for looping
video signal to other input devices.
STEP 2. Connect monitor
Connect the video BNC output marked Main Mon to the
monitor.
STEP 3. Connect internal hard drives
Supports two internal hard drives. Connect SATA cables from
SATA0 connector to Disk A and SATA1 connector to Disk B.
STEP 4. Connect hot-swappable hard drive (SMART COPY
Disk)
Supports one hot-swappable hard drive. Connect SATA cable
from SATA2 connector to the hot-swappable disk.
STEP 5. Connect external DVD writer (optional)
Connect IDE cable from IDE slot marked CD/DVD to DVD
writer.
STEP 6. Connect power
Make sure that all devices are ready before connecting power
cord to PSU, and then power on. The boot procedure takes
around a minute before ADR-7008 can be operated.

3. The first time to use
3.1 Internal HDD installation
1. Loosen these three screws on the rear panel.
2. Remove the cover. (Push the cover back before lifting it )
3. Loosen these four screws on the HDD bracket and take the
bracket out.

4. Mount and tighten the HDD to the bracket.
5. Put the bracket back to the case and tighten it.
6. Connect the SATA and power cables.

3.2 Hot-Swap HDD installation
1. Unlock the hot-swap tray and then pull it out.
2. Put aHDDinto the trayand fixthe HDDwith screws.
3. Push the tray back to the case and lock it.

3.3 How to record
First, set the system time to local time. Press the MENU button, select
System and then Time. The items should be set as follows:
Date display: YY/MM/DD, MM/DD/YY, DD/MM/YY.
Time format: 12 hours / 24 hours.
System date setting: modify the system date.
System time setting: modify the system time.
Default: return to the original preset value.
Second, make sure that the hard drives are firmly connected and then
power on. All hard drives should be formatted by the DVR before use.
Follow the instructions below.
STEP 1. Press the MENU button to enter system setups. Move the
cursor to “Disk Manager” via the up/down (©,ª) arrow keys.

STEP 2. Select “Disk Utility” item.
STEP 3. Select “Disk Format” item.
STEP 4. Move the yellow cursor by using the up / down arrow keys
(©,ª) and select hard drives by using the right arrow key (¨).
Then press “Begin format” button to format. When formatting
completed, a message will show up.
STEP 5. Press the REC/STOP button to record.
L“REC” will show on the right top.

3.4 How to Playback
Press the Search key to play back. There will be appearing a menu of
date range as year / month / day / hour / minute / second. Use up and
down arrow keys to select the range, and use left and right arrow keys
to change the set value. Besides, you can quickly search the historical
video or playback video according to the type.
From: set the beginning time.
To: set the closing time.
CAM: The number of the camera from which you want to play back (01
~08).
Type: There are four types of playback files.
Manual: manual recording
Alarm: alarm recording
Schedule: schedule recording
Motion: motion detection recording
3.5 User Account
The user account is exclusively set for the administrator to control all
functions of the DVR. Its default is 12345678. It protects the DVR as
the Lock key does.
[Modify the Password]
Press the Menu key to choose “User Account” and then “Modify”.

Use §,¨to change the characters (0~9 or A~Z or both), and use ©,ª
to move the characters. A password can be composed of 10
characters at most. When modifying, you have to key in the original
password first, and press the Enter key to confirm. Then, key in a new
password and press the Enter key to confirm. Input the new password
again, and press the Enter key. The system will tell you that the
password has been changed.
LYou’re suggested to change the default and keep the new
password before use.
[Lock]
After setting up the DVR in the authority of administrator, press the
Lock key to protect the machine. In operation or modification, you
should press the Lock key again. The system will ask you to input the
password. If you fail to input a correct one, the system won’t let you
login.
LWhen you press the Lock key, you can still use the channel keys,
the MODE key and the DWELL key.

3.6 Firmware Update
Download the latest firmware from 2SAN web site
http://www.2SAN.com. This file will be in the RAR format. Extract it to
the USB flash drive. (Empty your flash drive first)
STEP 1. Power on the DVR.
STEP 2. After booting and the LCD shows “Ready", insert the
USB flash drive to the USB port. It will update the DVR
automatically in a few minutes.
STEP 3. The system will ask if you want to update the firmware.
Choose “Yes” and begin to update.
LBefore updating the firmware, you need to confirm the
administrator’s password first.
STEP 4. The system will show the update as “Update FW-1 xxx%”
and “Update FW-2 xxx%” respectively. Here xxx% means the
progress percentage.
STEP 5. The system will shut down automatically after the
successful update.
LDo not turn off the power or remove the flash drive during the
firmware update in order to secure normal operation.
