This Quick Start is for experienced token ring
network users. Perform the following steps to install
the 3Com
®
TokenLink
®
Velocity
™
network interface
card (NIC) (3C319):
1 Install the 3C319 NIC in an ISA or EISA slot in
your PC.
2 Connect a token ring cable to the NIC.
3 Power on your PC.
The 3C319 NIC will be automatically configured in
a Plug and Play (PnP) PC. Table 1 shows the default
settings in PnP and non-PnP PCs.

If you must disable PnP and manually configure the
NIC, use the Configuration and Diagnostic Program
(3TRDIAG.EXE) supplied on TokenDisk
®
diskette #1.
4 Install the network driver from the appropriate
TokenDisk diskette, as shown in Table 2.
The 3C319 NIC is a shared RAM NIC; it uses areas of
upper memory to transfer data. When using a DOS
memory manager, be sure to exclude the 3C319 NIC’s
shared RAM and BIOS/MMIO address ranges.
