Product Safety Information
3M™ Surgical Clipper with Fixed Head 9671
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
Important Safety Instructions
When using this clipper, basic precautions should always be followed.
Read and understand all safety information before using.
INTENDED USE
• The 3M Surgical Clipper with Fixed Head system is comprised of a handle, a single-use blade assembly and a battery charger. It is intended to remove
body and head hair from patients in preparation for any medical procedure requiring hair removal.
• By replacing the common razor, this product will minimize the trauma associated with conventional shaving techniques.
• With proper use, the 3M Surgical Clipper with Fixed Head 9671 removes hair quickly and thoroughly; it has sufficient power to remove course hair, yet
is gentle enough for fine hair. It works well on all types of hair, either wet or dry and in delicate areas. For best performance, clip hair dry.
• The clipper has been designed and tested for use only with the 3M Surgical Clipper with Fixed Head model 9671 series battery chargers
(9672,9673,9674,9675, 9678) and the 3M disposable blade assembly 9670.
WARNING
To reduce the risks associated with fire and explosion, which if not avoided could result in death or serious injury and/or property damage:
• Do not operate clipper where aerosol (spray) products, flammable anesthetic mixture with air, nitrous oxide or oxygen administering equipment other
than nasal or mask types are being used.
• Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT’s) . . . do not use clipper on a patient whose clothing is saturated with flammable solutions such as gasoline, fuel
oil, solvents, etc.
• Avoid using around flammable alcohol or similar cleaning solution. If alcohol is used to clean the clipper, assure that the clipper and surrounding area
is ventilated of fumes before attaching the charger cord or switching on the clipper.
To reduce the risks associated with hazardous voltage, which if not avoided could result in death or serious injury:
• Do not attempt to plug or unplug the cord from an electrical outlet with wet hands.
• Unplug the clipper before cleaning.
• Do not place or store a clipper where it can fall or be pulled into a tub or sink. Do not immerse any part of the clipper in water or other solutions. Do
not retrieve a clipper while corded and in use that has fallen into or is submerged in water or other solutions. Unplug it from the wall outlet
immediately.
• Never charge or operate the clipper if it has a damaged cord or plug, if it is not working properly, if it has been dropped or damaged, or if it has been
dropped into water.
To reduce the risks associated with cross contamination, which if not avoided could result in death or serious injury:
• Do not reuse the blade assembly. Single use only.
• Always clean the clipper handle between patients.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
To Attach a Disposable Blade Assembly onto the Clipper Body:
Make sure that the ON/OFF switch is in the OFF position. Hold the clipper body at a 45° (degree) angle over the opened blade assembly package. Push the clipper
body into the blade to secure. An audible snap indicates blade assembly is securely attached (A).
To Use the Clipper:
The patient’s skin should be clean. To turn the clipper on, slide the ON/OFF switch to the ON position. Use short, gentle strokes, holding the clipper blade assembly at
a 15 to 30 degree angle to the patient’s skin (B). For best results, clip against the direction of the hair growth. For problem areas, stretch the skin taut while clipping.
To Remove Disposable Blade Assembly:
Assure the ON/OFF switch is in the OFF position. Position the clipper over an appropriate waste receptacle with the blade assembly facing downward. Use your
thumb to push blade assembly off the clipper body into waste receptacle (C).
Care and Cleaning of the Clipper Body:
The housing of the clipper body is made of durable plastic and may be wiped off with a damp cloth containing a small amount of alcohol, disinfectant, or a mild
detergent solution. While uncorded, the clipper body may also be rinsed under running water (D). Allow to dry completely before reconnecting cords or reusing.
Do not immerse clipper body in any liquid (E).
To Charge the Clipper:
1. Slide the ON/OFF switch to the OFF position.
2. Clean the clipper body before reconnecting to the cord, making sure the clipper is free of hair or other contaminants.
3. Connect the cord to the receptacle in the bottom of the clipper and then to an appropriate electrical outlet (120 volts AC 50-60 Hz), making sure the cord is not
pinched or kinked or damaged.
4. The charging indicator light will be on when the clipper is plugged in and making the proper connection. If the charging indicator light fails to illuminate when the
clipper body is plugged in, make sure the cord has proper contact with the clipper terminals and it is free of hair or debris.
5. To be certain that the clipper is fully charged, plug the clipper in for 18 to 24 hours before its initial use. Thereafter, the clipper can be fully charged in
12 to 14 hours.
6. We recommend leaving the clipper plugged in between uses. It cannot be overcharged.
