Safety Information
Please read, understand, and follow all safety information contained in this
“Product Safety Guide” and the “User’s Manual” prior to the use of this
projector. Retain these instructions for future reference.
Intended Use
The 3M™Digital Projector DX70 was designed, built and tested for use
indoors, using 3M brand lamps, and nominal local voltages. This projector
is not intended for household use or use by children. The use of other
replacement lamps, outdoor operation or different voltages has not been
tested and could damage the projector or peripheral equipment and/or create a
potentially unsafe operating condition.

To reduce the risk associated with choking:
• Keep the battery and battery holder away from children and pets.
To reduce the risk associated with environmental contamination due to
mercury:
• Hg: Lamp in this product contains mercury. Dispose of lamp cartridge in
accordance with applicable federal, state and local regulations.
To reduce the risk associated with exposure to hazardous voltage:
• Disconnect power cord when the projector is not in use, during lamp
replacement, and while cleaning.
• Do not remove any screws other than those specified in the lamp
replacement instructions.
• Do not store or operate this projector in wet environments.
• Do not modify this projector.
• Do not attempt to service the projector - there are no user serviceable
parts, other than the lamp cartridge, inside the projector. Contact a 3M
authorized service provider for service.
• Do not allow water or other liquids to enter the projector.
• Do not use this projector outdoors.
To reduce the risk associated with exposure to hazardous voltage and/
or fire:
• Replace power cord if damaged.
• Contact a 3M authorized service provider if the projector becomes
damaged.
• Use a grounded extension cord with a rating at least equal to that of the
projector.
• Connect this projector to a grounded outlet.
• When the power plug will be unplugged from the power outlet, please
place the projector near the power outlet so that it may be reached easily.

To reduce the risk associated with hazardous voltage, impact, tripping,
and intense visible light:
• Do not use this projector around unsupervised children.
To reduce the risk associated with hot surface of lamp cartridge:
• Unplug the projector from the electrical outlet and allow the lamp to cool
for 45 minutes before replacing the lamp.
To reduce the risk associated with a ruptured lamp:
• Always handle the fragile lamp module with care.
• Remove the projector from the ceiling or wall mount before replacing the
lamp.
• Use care when replacing the lamp module in the event of a lamp rupture
- small glass particles and small amounts of mercury may be present.
• Ventilate the area where the lamp rupture occurred.
• Wear safety goggles and gloves when cleaning up ruptured lamp debris.
• Carefully collect the ruptured lamp debris in a closed container and
dispose of the container and the expired lamp module in accordance with
federal, state, and local regulations.
• Wash your hands thoroughly after handling ruptured lamp debris.
• Replace the lamp module when the lamp replacement message appears.
• Never replace the lamp module with a previously used lamp module.

in this manual. Failure to comply with this government regulation
could void your right to operate this equipment. This equipment
has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B
digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits
are designed to provide reason-able protection against harmful
interference when the equipment is operated in a commercial
environment. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio
frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with

DCAUTION
To reduce the risk associated with environmental contamination:
• Dispose of exhausted batteries in accordance with applicable federal, state
and local regulations.
To reduce the risk associated with explosion, and/or chemicals from a
leaking battery:
• Use only with battery type AAA or equivalent.
• Orient the battery’s plus (+) and minus (-) terminals of the batteries
according to the markings found on the remote control.
• Do not leave the battery in the remote for an extended period of time.
• Do not heat, disassemble, short, recharge, or expose to fire or high
temperature
• Do not carry batteries loose in your pocket or purse.
• Avoid eye and skin contact in the event that battery would leak
• Do not mix used and new batteries.
To reduce the risk associated with the hot surface of exhaust louvers:
• Do not touch exhaust louvers during operation.
To reduce the risk associated with the impact of a falling projector:
• Use only the 3M™brand wall/ceiling mounting hardware kit if wall or
ceiling mount is desired.
• Installation of the 3M wall/ceiling kit must only be performed by qualified
personnel.
• Adhere strictly to the proper installation procedure as outlined in the
installation instruction when installing the 3M wall/ceiling kit.
• Always operator the unit on fat, sturdy, and horizontal surface.
To reduce the risk associated with intense visible light:
• Avoid looking directly into the projector lens while the lamp is on.
To reduce the risk associated with tripping and/or impact:
• Position the power cord and data cable so that they cannot be tripped over.

Important Notes
1. The projector uses a high-pressure mercury glass lamp. The lamp can
break with a loud bang, or turn out, if jolted or scratched, handled while
hot, or worn over time. Note that each lamp has a different lifetime, and
some may burst or burn out soon after you start using them.
2. Always open the lens shutter or remove lens cap when the projection
lamp is on.
3. To avoid premature lamp failure, do not change the mounting position
of the projector (desktop ceiling mount or ceiling desktop mount) and
continue to use the same lamp.
4. To avoid reduced lamp life, do not touch projection lamp with bare
fingers.
5. To avoid reduced image quality, do not touch projection lens or other
internal optical components.
6. Do not use detergents, chemicals, or any spray liquids for cleaning this
unit, other than those referred to in the “Operators Guide”.
7. For maximum lamp life, do not strike or drop, improperly handle, or
scratch the lamp glass. Also, do not install an old or used lamp.
8. Keep air filter clean. Refer to the cleaning instructions contained in the
“Operator’s Guide”.
9. Keep all ventilation openings free of any obstructions.
10. In some countries, the line voltage is NOT stable. This projector is
designed to operate safely within a bandwidth of 100–240 V AC (50 to
60 Hz), but could fail if power drops or surges of ±10 volts occur. In these
high-risk areas, it is recommended to install a power stabilizer unit.

Replacing the Lamp Cartridge
DWARNING

Important Notes:

5. When the life of the lamp is exceeded, the STATUS indicator lights a
steady red and the message [Replace the Lamp Cartridge] is displayed
on the screen. When this occurs, it is time to replace the lamp cartridge.
Please make the replacement following the procedure below.
6. If the projector is used another 100 hours after the lamp’s service life is
reached, the power is set to the standby mode and no longer turns on.
Contact a store that sells the DX70 for a replacement lamp. Indicate you
need a LKDX70 replacement lamp for the DX70.

Replace the Lamp Cartridge
The projector keeps track of the lamp usage. It will show you a warning
message:
When you see this message, change the lamp as soon as possible. Make sure
the projector has cooled down for at least 30 minutes before changing the
lamp.
Warning: Lamp compartment is hot! Allow 30 minutes to cool down before
changing lamp!
1. Turn off the power by pressing the Power/Standby button.
2. Allow the projector to cool down for at least 30 minutes.
3. Disconnect the power cord.
4. Push up and remove the cover.

5. Use a screwdriver to remove
the 3 screws from the lamp
module.
6. Pull out the lamp module.
To replace the lamp module, reverse the previous steps.
Warning: To reduce the risk of personal injury, do not drop the lamp
module or touch the lamp bulb. The bulb may shatter and cause injury if it
is dropped.

Warranty
Warranty; Limited Remedy; Limited Liability
This product will be free from defects in material and manufacture for
a period of three years from the date of purchase or for 2500 hours of
use, whichever occurs first. 3M MAKES NO OTHER WARRANTIES
INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF
MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
If this product is defective within the warranty period stated above, the
exclusive remedy shall be, at 3M’s option, to replace or repair the 3M product
or to refund the purchase price of the 3M product. All replaced parts or
products become property of 3M. If the product is repaired, 3M will repair
the defective part(s) with a new or used part(s). If the product is replaced, 3M
will replace the product with the same or equivalent model and with a new or
refurbished product. The replacement product carries the original equipment
warranty. Except where prohibited by law, 3M will not be liable for any
indirect, special, incidental or consequential loss or damage arising from this
3M product, regardless of the legal theory asserted. Please see the following
warranty limitations and exclusions.
Warranty Limitations and Exclusions
Except where prohibited by law, the following limitations and exclusions
apply to the above mentioned limited warranty:
(a) The above warranty is limited to the 3M Digital Projector and
excludes the lamp and accessories.
(b) The original lamp has the following limited warranty: 90 days from
the date of purchase or 180 hours of lamp use, whichever occurs first.
(c) 3M Digital Projectors are designed to operate in the typical indoor
environment. The product Limited Warranty is void if used outside of
the following circumstances:
• 100V-240V AC, 50/60 Hz
• 16° to 29° C (60° to 85° F)
• 10-80% RH (without condensation)
• 0-1828m (0-6000 feet) above sea level

(d) The Air Intake and Exhaust Vent must be clear of obstructions,
including any potential blockage or obstructions caused from a ceiling
or other mount. Inadequate air ventilation will cause the projector to
malfunction or will cause damage to the projector which will void the
warranty.
(e) The Warranty will be void if someone other than 3M (or a 3M
Authorized Service Provider) repairs or modifies the 3M product.
(f) The Warranty does not cover damage due to misuse, neglect,
mishandling, abuse, or normal wear and tear.
(g) The Warranty does not cover costs associated with but not limited
to removal, cleaning or installation of the product, adjustments,
(mechanical or electronic), made to the product or replacing customer
replaceable parts like lamps and air filters.
(h) The Warranty does not cover shipping charges incurred when
returning the product to 3M for repair.
For warranty support, please call or write your local 3M office or a
3M Authorized Service Provider to obtain an RMA # (Return Material
Authorization Number) before returning the product. If you are inside the
Continental United States of America, please contact 3M Customer Service at
800-328-1371 or email [email protected].
To ensure you do not void your warranty, please review the Intended Use for
Digital Projectors.
