MC-2000, Version 2.6 I:MAN-MC2000USA2
Introduction
The MC-2000 is a low-cost, easy to use, 5 lb. money counter and scale designed pri-
marily for counting out cash register drawers of US coins, bills & coin rolls. Other fea-
tures include conventional counting of items other than coins, plus basic weighing in
grams and ounces. When not counting money, use your MC-2000 to determine post-
age or count raffle tickets, literature, plastic or electronic parts, nuts & bolts, beads or
whatever you desire.
The MC-2000 is fast, accurate and very user-friendly, prompting the operator through a cash
drawer count in the same typical fashion as hand counting: coins (1,5,10,25,$1), bills
(1,5,10,20,50,100) & coin rolls (1,5,10,25,$1). A totalized value is available at any time by the
press of a button. The MC-2000 has user setup adjustments allowing customized site operation,
best suited for individual desires. (see “F” settings in this manual.
Housed in a durable, compact gray-colored plastic enclosure, the MC-2000 is easy to store when
not in use. Six (6) AA alkaline battery operation allows for easy portability. An environmentally
friendly AC adapter is included at no extra charge.
A coin scoop is provided with each scale and is necessary for the purpose of counting coins.
Optional AD-1191 Roll Printer provides an audit trail with individual quantity & monetary value for
each coin & bill along with time, date & total.
Getting Started
After unpacking the scale, a small amount of assembly is required. These instructions are extremely
important for maximizing accuracy & count performance!!!!!!
þLocate the platform and affix to the scale in the holes provided. Be sure to align the end marked
“FRONT” with the front of the scale. Firmly squeeze the platter into place.
þPlug the enclosed AC Adapter into the MC-2000 first, then into an AC outlet. (Or install 6 each al-
kaline batteries.)
þPlace the MC-2000 on a firm and stable table, ensuring all leveling legs are firmly resting on your
counter.
þWhen using the AC adapter, we recommend that you leave power on continuously.
þDo not share an AC outlet with other noise producing products; i.e. anything with an electrical motor
or relay.
þDo not turn the scale ON with an object already on the platform.
þDo not operate the MC-2000...
...in an area with changing ambient temperature.
...in direct sunlight.
...in an area with high humidity.
...in a dusty environment.
...in a windy area.
...in an area with vibration.
þReview the “F’ settings explained in this manual to determine your most desired modes of opera-
tion.

Maximizing Money Count Performance
Environment: The MC-2000 is calibrated & ready for use when unpacked. Always follow
the instructions in “Getting Started” Section on page 2.
Money Count Accuracy
Silver Coins: nickels, dimes & quarters (loose or rolls) are no problem in any environment.
Pennies: difficult to guarantee because average piece weights vary greatly. Our tests suggest
that you will typically be within 2 cents per 100. Penny Roll accuracy is no problem.
Paper Currency: $1s & $5s are the most difficult because they tend to circulate more fre-
quently, getting the most wear. Also, all bills will absorb moisture from humidity or steam,
which adds weight that may reduce counting accuracy. The Factory setting of F10 restricts
placing more than 40 bills on the scale at one time to overcome the inconsistent weights of
paper money, hence maximizing accuracy. This value of 40 can be altered to your personal
environment or completely disabled. In ideal environments, it is not uncommon for the MC-
2000 to accurately count 100s of bills when placed on the scale all at once. Although operating
speed is slightly increased, risk of innaccurate count is also increased.
Basic gram (g) and ounce (oz) Weighing Operation
1. Press MODE to select unit of measure.
2. Before weighing an item, make sure the scale shows a zero weight indication. If not, re-
move all items from the platter and press ZERO key.
3. Place the item on the scale’s platter and allow the weight indication to stabilize.
4. To add weight value to accumulator, press ADD. (Value also prints.)
5. To display accumulator at any time (for 3 seconds), press TOTAL.
6. To clear accumulator and print total, press/hold ZERO, then press TOTAL.
Basic Counting (pcs) Operation
1. Before weighing an item, make sure the scale shows a zero weight indication. If not, re-
move all items from the platter and press ZERO key. If using a container, place empty
container on scale and press ZERO.
2. Press MODE until “5 0 pcs” is displayed. To change sample size from 5 /10 / 20 / 50,
continue to press Sample.
3. Place selected number of samples on the scale platter and allow the weight indication to
stabilize. “5 – pcs” is now displayed. Press Enter. “5 pcs” is now displayed and you can
continue to count. If “Lo” is displayed, sample size is too small and will advance to next
largest sample size. Add additional samples to equal the value on the display. Press
Enter again.
4. To add count value to accumulator, press ADD. (Value also prints.)
5. To display count accumulator at any time (for 3 seconds), press TOTAL.
6. To clear count accumulator and print total, press/hold ZERO, then press TOTAL. To
determine a new APW, press MODE.

Error Codes
MESSAGE MEANING / POSSIBLE SOLUTION
pppppp
A weight greater than 5 lb. has been applied to the MC-2000. Remove the weight from
the platter. Try re-calibrating the scale if this doesn’t solve the problem. Otherwise, pos-
sible load cell damage due to overloading.
Lo Sample weight – used only in counting mode - is too low. More samples required.
“Err 2” During calibration, the test weight placed on the platter is too light. If this does not solve
the problem, then there is possible load cell damage due to overloading or some other
internal problem.
Setup Functions
Your MC-2000 is basically ready to use right out of the box. There are, however, certain user setup &
support functions which allow adjustments best suited to your personal needs:
WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU USE YOUR MC-2000 FOR A FEW DAYS,
BEFORE YOU DECIDE TO CHANGE ANY FACTORY SETTINGS.
FUNCTION FACTORY DESCRIPTION
F1 N/a Calibration: There is no need to calibrate the MC-2000 unless you feel
that the scale has become inaccurate.
F2 N/a Initialize all Factory Settings (F1-F10): Resets all factory settings.
F3 ON Auto Currency Advance: Factory setting for money counting program
automatically advances through each denomination as money removed
from MC-2000.
F4 OFF Auto Power Off: If using AC adapter, we recommend that you leave the
scale on at all times. If using batteries, change F4 to “ON”. MC-2000 will
turn itself off after 10 minutes of non-activity to preserve battery life.
F5 See Chart-
Below
Re-initialize Average Piece Weight (APW) Factory Settings (F6 only).
This is a simple method for restoring your initial factory settings of average
piece weights for all denominations.
F6 N/a Monetary Average Piece Weight (APW) Adjustment: If you determine
that your scale is inaccurately counting all denonimations, you should re-
calibrate (F1). If, however, you determine that the scale is okay on most
denominations, but consistently light/heavy on one particular denomina-
tion, you do not need to calibrate, simply adjust the apw for that particular
denomination.
F7 ON $1 Coin: enables/disables$1 coins and $1 coin roll mode.
F8 ON Automatic Add to Totalizer:eliminates the need to press ADD button.
Monetary value will be added immediately upon removal of money (&/or)
scoop from the scale.
F9 ON Automatic Coin Cup Tare:Eliminates the need to “zero” the coin scoop
(standard accessory) or optional coin cups (purchased separately).
F10 ON Maximum Bill Prompt: Restricts placing more than 40 bills on the scale
at one time, ensuring maximum bill count accuracy. This setting can be
turned off or value can be changed. Choices are: 40 / 50 / 60 / 80 / 100 /
150 / OFF / 20 / 30.

MC-2000, Version 2.6 I:MAN-MC2000USA7
To access Function Settings:
1. Remove all items from the platter and turn the scale OFF. Ensure that the MC-2000 is
reasonably level, on a sturdy table away from drafts. Also check that all 4 leveling legs
are firmly resting on the table so the scale does not “teeter”.
2. With nothing on the platter, press and hold the Enter key while turning the unit back ON.
Release the ON key only, but continue to hold the Enter key while display shows “-InIt-”.
Once display shows “SETUP”, release the Enter key. The display shows “F1”.
3. To cycle between functions, press ROLL. Once you have selected the function you
want, press TOTAL. Proceed as described below for each function.
4. To return to weighing mode, turn MC-2000 off, then turn back on.
F1 - Calibration
Your MC-2000 is basically ready to use right out of the box. There is no need to calibrate the unit unless
you feel the MC-2000 has become inaccurate.
A simple method of confirming accuracy is to simply periodically hand count quarters, dimes, nickels or
bills, then confirm the scale accuracy. If you determine that the scale is light on all denominations, you
should recalibrate. If you determine count is okay on most denominations, but light on one particular
denomination, then you do not need to calibrate, simply adjust the average piece weight for that par-
ticular denomination per Function 6.
The MC-2000 allows calibration with a 200g, 500g, 1000g or 2,000g, ANSI/ASTM Class 1 calibration
weight. This weight may be obtained from your retailer or a local scale dealer found under “scales” in
your yellow pages. For A&D assistance call 1-800-726-3364, ask for WeighingTechnical Support or
email: andweighing.com. The A&D part #s are:
Calibration Weight Value A&D Part #
200 gram AD-1700-200G
500 gram AD-1700-500G
1,000 gram AD-1700-1KG
2,000 gram AD-1700-2KG
To calibrate:
1. With “F1” on display, press TOTAL. Display momentarily shows “CAL 0”, then a series
of numbers.
2. With nothing on platform, press and release the MODE key. Display momentarily shows
“. . . . “, then “200g”. To cycle between 200/500/1000/2000, press ADD.
3. Place the displayed calibration weight on the platform and press MODE. Display shows
a series of numbers, then “End”. Calibration is complete and the scale returns to “F1”.
