IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
READ CAREFULLY AND KEEP FOR FUTURE REFERENCE
WARNING:
• For household use only.
• The base and kettle cannot be used for other than intended
use.
• If the supplied cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the
manufacturer or their service agent or a similarly qualified
person in order to avoid a hazard.
• To protect against a fire, electric shock or personal injury, do
not immerse cord, electric plugs or kettle in water or other
liquids.
• Do not touch hot surfaces. Use the handle.
• Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance
containing hot water.
• Unplug the kettle from the outlet when not in use and before
cleaning. Allow the kettle to cool before putting on or taking off
parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
• Always ensure the lid is closed and do not lift it while the
water is boiling. Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during
the boiling cycle.
• Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or
after the appliance has malfunctioned or been damaged in any
manner. Return the appliance to the nearest authorised service
facility for examination, repair or adjustment.
• Always use the kettle with the stand provided.

• Do not overfill the kettle as boiling water may spill out.
• This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years
and above if they have been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and if they
understand the hazards involved. Cleaning and user
maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are
aged from 8 years and above and supervised.
• Appliances can be used by persons with reduced physical,
sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and
knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and if they
understand the hazards involved.
• Children shall not play with the appliance.
• Before connecting the kettle to the power supply, check that
the voltage indicated on the appliance (underside the kettle
& base) corresponds with the voltage in your home. If this is
not the case, contact your dealer and do not use the kettle.
• Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter
or touch a hot surface.
• Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner or in a
heated oven.
• Do not operate the appliance empty to avoid damaging the
heat elements.
• Ensure that the kettle is used on a firm and flat surface out of
reach of children, this will prevent the kettle from overturning
and prevent damage or injury.

• While water is boiling, or just after water has boiled, avoid
contact with steam from the spout.
• Always take care to pour boiling water slowly and carefully
without tipping the kettle too fast.
• Be careful of refilling when the kettle is hot.
• Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used
by or near children or infirm persons.
• The appliance is not a toy. Do not let children play with it.
• The kettle is for household use only, do not use outdoors.
• The use of accessories that are not recommended by the
appliance manufacturer, may result in fire, electric shock or
personal injury.
• To disconnect turn the switch to ‘off’ then remove the plug
from the outlet.
• Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children.

Notes on the cord plug:
This appliance has an earthed plug, to reduce the risk of
electric shock this plug is intended to fit into an earthed outlet
only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet try
turning the plug around. If it still does not fit contact a
qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any
way.
Notes on the power cord:
A short power supply cord is supplied to reduce the risk of
becoming entangled in or tripping over a long cord. Longer
extension cords are available and may be used with care, take
care they do not hang over counter or table tops and cannot
be pulled or tripped over. If a longer extension cord is used its
electrical rating should be at least as great as that of the kettle.
Ensure any extension cord used is fully earthed.

Please note: If you are using the kettle for the first time, it is recommended that you should
clean it before use by boiling a full kettle of water twice and discarding the water. Wipe the
surface with a damp cloth.
Slot the cable around the tabs on the underside of the
power base.
Fit the power cable firmly into one of the slots on the
base so that the base is stable.
Remove the cover from the plug.
Slot the plug into an electrical socket and turn the power
on.

IMPORTANT: Should you accidentally boil the kettle when it is empty the kettle will switch off
automatically. If this happens allow the kettle to cool down before filling with cold water and
re-boiling.
Pull the grip on the top of the lid upwards and lift the lid
into the vertical position.
Fill kettle with water up to your required level.
WARNING: Be careful when pouring water from your kettle as spilt boiling water may result
in scalding and injury .
WARNING: Do not open the lid whilst the kettle is hot. Ensure the switch is not obstructed
or the kettle will not switch off.
IMPORTANT: You can shut off the power whilst the kettle is boiling by pressing the switch
on the handle.
Close the lid. Ensure the lid is closed properly or the kettle
will not switch off.
Place the kettle onto base, ensuring it is sealed correctly.
Push the switch on the back of the kettle down to boil the
kettle. The switch will light up when boiling.
Important: The kettle will automatically switch off once
the water has boiled.

Cleaning and Care
Cleaning the kettle
•Always disconnect the kettle from the power outlet before cleaning.
•Do not immerse the kettle, power cable, or base in water.
•Wipe the kettle with a damp cloth, do not use an abrasive cleaner.
•Ensure the kettle is empty and completely cool
•Remove the filter by carefully pulling the top of the filter
upwards
•Wash the filter in warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly
•Refit the filter and ensure it click back into place.
Cleaning the filter
Descaling the kettle
You may need to de-scale your kettle occasionally as mineral deposits from tap water build
up. You can use a commercially available de-scaler, and follow the instructions provided.
Alternatively, follow these instructions:
•Put 3 cups of white vinegar and enough water to cover the base in the kettle.
•Leave in the kettle over night.
•Empty the kettle.
•Fill the kettle with water and boil several times to remove any odour of vinegar.
•Any stains in the spout can be removed with a damp cloth.

Connection to the mains supply
WARNING- THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED
This appliance is designed to operate from a mains supply of AC230V -
240V ~ 50/60HZ.
Check that the voltage marked on the product corresponds with your
supply voltage.
This product is fitted with a 13A plug complying with BS1363.
If this plug is unsuitable or needs to be replaced, please note the following:

As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this appliance may not
correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your
plug, proceed as follows:
The GREEN/YELLOW wire is the EARTH and must be connected to the
terminal which is marked with the letter E or by the earth symbol or
coloured GREEN or
GREEN/YELLOW.
The BLUE wire is the NEUTRAL and must be connected to
the terminal marked with the letter N or coloured BLACK.
The BROWN wire is the LIVE wire and must be connected to
the terminal marked with the letter L or coloured RED.
Always ensure that the plug cord grip is fastened correctly.
If a13A(BS1363) fused plug is used it must be fitted with a
13amp fuse conforming to BS1362 and be BSI or ASTA approved.
