IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
1. Read these instructions carefully. Save them for future reference.
2. Follow all warnings and instructions marked on the product.
3. Unplug this product from the wall outlet before cleaning. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners. Use a damp
cloth for cleaning.
4. Do not use this product near water.
5. Do not place this product on an unstable cart, stand, or table. The product may fall, causing serious damage to
the product.
6. Slots and openings in the cabinet and the back or bottom are provided for ventilation; to ensure reliable
operation of the product and to protect it from overheating, these openings must not be blocked or covered.
The openings should never be blocked by placing the product on a bed, sofa, rug, or other similar surface.
This product should never be placed near or over a radiator or heat register, or in a built-in installation unless
proper ventilation is provided.
7. This product should be operated from the type of power indicated on the marking label. If you are not sure of
the type of power available, consult your dealer or local power company.
8. This product is equipped with a 3-wire grounding-type plug, a plug having a third (grounding) pin. This plug
will only fit into a grounding-type power outlet. This is a safety feature. If you are unable to insert the plug
into the outlet, contact your electrician to replace your obsolete outlet. Do not defeat the purpose of the
grounding-type plug.
9. Do not allow anything to rest on the power cord. Do not locate this product where persons will walk on the
cord.

10. If an extension cord is used with this product, make sure that the total ampere rating of the equipment plugged
into the extension cord does not exceed the extension cord ampere rating. Also, make sure that the total rating
of all products plugged into the wall outlet does not exceed 15 amperes.
11. Never push objects of any kind into this product through cabinet slots as they may touch dangerous voltage
points or short out parts that could result in a fire or electric shock. Never spill liquid of any kind on the
product.
12. Do not attempt to service this product yourself, as opening or removing covers may expose you to dangerous
voltage points or other risks. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.
13. Unplug this product from the wall outlet and refer servicing to qualified service personnel under the following
conditions:
a. When the power cord or plug is damaged or frayed
b. If liquid has been spilled into the product
c. If the product has been exposed to rain or water
d. If the product does not operate normally when the operating instructions are followed. Adjust only those
controls that are covered by the operating instructions since improper adjustment of other controls may
result in damage and will often require extensive work by a qualified technician to restore the product to
normal condition.
e. If the product has been dropped or the cabinet has been damaged
f. If the product exhibits a distinct change in performance, indicating a need for service

14. Use only the proper type of power supply cord (provided in your keyboard/manual accessories box) for this
unit. It should be a detachable type: UL listed/CSA certified, type SVT/SJT, rated 6A 125V minimum, VDE
approved or its equivalent. Maximum length is 15 feet (4.6 meters).
15. Replace battery with the same type as the product’s battery we recommend. Use of another battery may
present a risk of fire or explosion. Refer battery replacement to a qualified technician.
The battery may explode if not handled
properly. Do not recharge, disassemble or
dispose of it in fire. Keep away from children
and dispose of any used battery promptly.

The AcerPower2100 provides the sheer power and speed to run demanding business, graphics and multimedia
applications, and the reliability that makes life less complicated. Each system is engineered with an eye to the next
generation of more demanding applications, making the AcerPower 2100 a sound investment now and for the
future.
The AcerPower 2100 provides advanced manageability features ideal for networked environments. There are two
different model types available:
Net PC – Fully functional PC system with no CD-ROM or floppy drive. This allows you to control I/O access for
security purposes.
Managed PC – Fully functional PC system that includes both a CD-ROM and floppy drive
The AcerPower 2100 is a convertible platform. Acer Option Kits are available to transform a Net PC model into a
Managed PC model, or vice-versa. Three kits are available to accomplish this:
•AcerPower 2100 Net PC Bezel Kit – bezel covers to convert a Managed PC to a Net PC version
•AcerPower 2100 CD-ROM Kit – CD-ROM drive (supporting vertical orientation), cable and front bezel
•AcerPower 2100 Floppy Kit – 1.44MB floppy drive, cable and front bezel
Each kit includes easy-to-follow instructions. Please contact your dealer for ordering information and availability.

About This Manual
This manual is divided into five chapters and an appendix. A brief description of these chapters and the appendix
is provided below.
Chapter 1 Getting Started
This chapter describes the different parts of the system unit. It also describes how to select a site and set up the
basic system. It includes a simple troubleshooting section and a list of system error messages with the suggested
corrective actions.
Chapter 2 System Board
This chapter describes the system board and all its major components. It also contains information about the
system board layout, jumper settings, jumper and connector locations and functions.
Chapter 3 BIOS Utility
This chapter describes the BIOS and how to configure the system by setting BIOS parameters.
Chapter 4 Installing Optional Components
This chapter describes how to remove and replace the system housing, and how to install optional components. It
provides step-by-step instructions and illustrations that show how to perform each procedure.

Chapter 5 Acer Manageability Software
This chapter describes the Acer manageability software bundled with your system: The Acer Resource CD,
McAfeeVirusScanand Intel LANDeskClient Manager.
The Acer Resource CD contains the Acer CPR utility, the Acer Software Installer, the Acer software library and
online documentation. Use Acer CPR to restore your computer to its original factory settings. Use the Acer
Software Installer to install the bundled software that resides on the Acer Resource CD. The online documentation
provides answers to commonly asked questions.
McAfee VirusScan’s main features are described, as well as how to update VirusScan data files. Information about
installing VirusScan is also included.
The Intel LANDesk Client Manager section describes how to install/remove and use LANDesk Client Manager.
Appendix A CD-ROM Drive
This appendix shows how to use your CD-ROM drive. It includes illustrations of the front and rear panels, and
descriptions of each feature.

Chapter 1 Getting Started
1.1 Preinstallation
The preinstallation process involves the following activities:
•Selecting a site
•Unpacking components
1.1.1 Selecting a Site
Consider the following when selecting a site for your computer:
•Determine the best site for your system. Cable paths should not run near equipment that might cause
electromagnetic or radio frequency interference such as radio transmitters, television sets, copy machines, or
heating and air conditioning equipment.
•Route cables away from personnel and equipment traffic.
•Avoid dusty areas and extremes of temperature and humidity.
1.1.2 Unpacking Components
Carefully unpack the contents of each box. Save all packing materials in case you need to move or ship the system
in the future.
Check that all items are present and in good condition. Contact your dealer immediately if anything is missing or
damaged.
