IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
• Read and keep these instructions available for future reference.
• For indoor use only.
• The unit must only be connected to a suitable mains power supply
using the mains power lead provided.
• To reduce the risk of re or electrical shock, do not expose this
unit to rain or moisture.
• Unplug the unit from the wall socket during lightning storms and
when it is not going to be used for a long period of time.
• When the system is not going to be used for some time, remove
the batteries from the remote control to avoid damage caused by
battery leakage or corrosion, and unplug the unit.
• Take care that foreign objects do not enter, or liquids are not
spilled, into the enclosure through any openings. If this should
happen, refer to qualied service personnel before attempting to
use.
• Ensure adequate ventilation - do not cover the sub woofer unit with
curtains, etc.
• Do not install near any heat source, such as radiators, or other
equipment that produces heat.
• Protect the mains power cable from being damaged.
• Use only the satellite speakers and remote control provided.
• The DS 222 system is double insulated, when servicing only use
identical replacement parts.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
UK MAINS PLUG DETAILS
For your convenience a mains plug with a fuse (3 Amp) has been tted to
this appliance. For your safety please observe the following information.
The DS 222 is designed to operate on AC mains supply between 220 and
240 volts, 50 Hz.
The wires in the mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following
code:
BLUE NEUTRAL
BROWN LIVE
Under no circumstances should the Neutral or Live wires be connected to
the ‘E’ (Earth) terminal.

Once you have familiarised yourself with the DS 222 you need to connect up the unit.
Take all of the items included from the packaging, and have a look at the room in which
you are going place the system. Picture where you are going to position the speakers
- is the subwoofer close to a 13A power socket? We suggest that you keep the all of the
items close together when you rst set up the system then move them into their nal
position when you are happy the system is working correctly - also remember to ensure
the power is turned OFF until all of the connections are made. The DS 222 will accept a
signal a 5.1 DVD player or PC sound card. RCA (phono) leads are supplied for
connection of a 5.1 DVD player, the 3.5mm Jack to Phono leads supplied for connection
a to sound card. Follow the diagram on page 4 ensuring all connections are made rmly.
Once you have connected all your inputs, take the colour coded speaker wires, follow the
diagram on page 4 and connect the satellite speakers; each is colour coded to match its
position (also see the ‘Fast Set Up Sheet’ for ideas on positioning within your room).

SPEAKER CONNECTION
Ensure the correct polarity (+) and (-) of all speaker
leads. Check to make sure there are no wires touching
on the speaker terminals, and that all wires are rmly
clamped into the terminals.

You can connect any PC sound card to the DS 222 speaker system.
Shown to the right are the typical connections, take the 3.5mm Jack plug
and insert into the relevant positions shown.
When connecting the 2 channel source you will typically hear stereo sound
from the front satellite speakers. You will need to set your PC card to
stereo output.
When connecting the 4 channel source you will typically hear sound from
the Rear and Front satellite speakers. You will need to set you PC card to
surround setting.
When connecting the 6 channel source you will hear full surround sound
from all speakers. You will need to set your PC card to 5.1, 6 Channel or
Dolby/DTS.

PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION
No sound Improper connection of speaker terminal.
Improper connection of sound frequency terminal.
Improper connection of AC plug and the socket.
Volume is too low.
The speaker terminal is short-circuited.
Ensure that the equipment is connected properly.
Ensure that the sound frequency is connected properly.
Insert the AC plug securely into the AC outlet.
Increase the volume with volume control dial.
Turn off the power, reconnect the speakers, then turn the power on again.
Sound
distortion
Improper connection of amplier input terminal.
The volume is too high.
Ensure that the input terminal is connected properly.
Lower the volume with volume control dial.
Sound only from
one channel
Improper connection of amplier input terminal.
Input level is too high.
Ensure that the input terminal is connected correctly.
Adjust each volume channel correctly.
Now you are ready to use the DS 222 system.
Once you have turned on the DS 222 and your source (DVD or Sound Card) adjust the sound level volume contols to your required listening level.
You can adjust the bass separately from the rest of the speakers by moving the ‘Woofer’ level control.
