Pilotenanforderungen
Je nach Flächenbelastung stellt
der PI 3 unterschiedliche An-
forderungen an dich als Piloten.
Je höher die Zuladung, desto
anspruchsvoller werden Flug-
verhalten und Handling. Kleine
Flächen sind grundsätzlich agiler
und anspruchsvoller, selbst wenn
sie mit normaler Flächenbelas-
tung geogen werden. Du kannst
die unterschiedlichen Pilotenan-
forderungen in Abhängigkeit der
Flächenbelastung aus der neben-
stehenden Tabelle entnehmen.
Pilot requirements
Depending on its wing loading
the PI 3 makes different demands
on the pilot. The higher the
loading the more challenging the
ying characteristics and han-
dling skill requirements become.
Small wings are fundamentally
more agile, lively, and demand-
ing to y, even when own at
their normal wing loadings. You
can see the different piloting re-
quirements as a function of wing
loading in the adjacent table.
Exigences pour le pilote
Selon sa charge alaire, la PI 3 va
solliciter différentes exigences
de la part de son pilote. Plus
la charge est haute, plus les
caractéristiques de vol et les
exigences de compétences de pi-
lotage seront élevées. Les petites
ailes sont fondamentalement
plus agiles, plus vives et plus
exigeantes à piloter, même lors-
qu’elles volent avec leur charge
alaire normale. Tu peux visuali-
ser les différentes exigences de
pilotage en fonction de la charge
alaire dans le tableau ci-contre.

RANGES OF USE
DOMAINES D’UTILISATION
Thermik Range
In der Thermik Range mit einer
Flächenbelastung bis 3,5 kg/m
ist der PI 3 dank seiner ausgewo-
genen Kappe einfach zu iegen
und bietet eine maximale passive
Sicherheit. In dieser Range eignet
sich der PI 3 für Einsteiger und
Gelegenheitspiloten.
Hike & Fly Range
Die Hike & Fly Range mit einer
Flächenbelastung von 3,5 bis 4,5
kg/m ist die richtige Wahl für
alle, die mit leichter Ausrüstung
aufsteigen wollen und beim
Abstieg dynamischen Flugspass
wünschen. Die Grössen 19, 21, 23,
25 und 27 erfordern einen weit-
gehend aktiven Flugstil und somit
Intermediate-Erfahrung. Die
Grösse 16 verlangt aufgrund der
kleinen Fläche bereits in der Hike
& Fly Range Expert-Erfahrung.

In the thermaling range of up to
3.5 kg/m the PI 3 with its well
balanced canopy is easy to y,
offering maximum passive safety.
In this range the PI 3 is suitable
for beginners and leisure pilots.
Hike & Fly Range
The Hike & Fly range – wing
loading between 3.5 and 4.5 kg/
m– is the right choice for those
who like to walk up with light
equipment and have some dy-
namic fun on the ight down. 19,
21, 23, 25 and 27 sizes require
a safe and active ying style, as
well as some Intermediate-lev-
el experience. The PI 3 16 is a
small wing and requires Expert
experience, even in the Hike &
Fly Range.
En vol thermique
En vol thermique jusqu’à une
charge de 3,5 kg/m, la PI 3 avec
sa voilure bien équilibrée est fa-
cile à piloter, et offrent une sécu-
rité passive maximale. Dans cette
plage, la PI 3 est bien adaptée aux
débutants et aux pilotes de loisir.
En marche & vol
La plage de marche & vol avec
une charge entre 3,5 et 4,5 kg/
m est le bon choix pour ceux qui
voudraient monter à pied avec
un équipement léger et se faire
plaisir de façon dynamique dans
le vol de descente. Les tailles de
19, 21, 23, 25 et 27 m requièrent
un style de pilotage sûr et actif,
ainsi qu’une expérience de niveau
Intermédiaire. La 16 est une aile
de petite taille qui exige une ex-
périence de niveau Expert, même
dans la plage de marche & vol.

Mini Wing Range
In der Mini Wing Range mit einer
Flächenbelastung ab 4,5 kg/m
wird der PI 3 zum Actionwing.
Gefordert sind sehr erfahrene
Piloten, die aktiv iegen und
Störungen schon im Ansatz ver-
hindern. Aufgrund der deutlich
höheren Fluggeschwindigkeit und
des grossen Kurvensinkens ist
der PI 3 als Mini Wing auch beim
Landen anspruchsvoll.
Mini Wing Range
In the Mini Wing Range with a
wing loading of 4.5 kg/m and up,
the PI 3 is clearly an action wing.
It requires a very experienced
pilot who ies actively and can
sort out wing disturbances almost
before they happen. Because of
a higher ying speed and much
higher descent rate in the turn,
the PI 3 as a Mini Wing, is also
demanding to land.
En Mini Voile
Dans la plage Mini Voile, avec
une charge alaire de 4,5 kg/m et
plus, la PI 3 est clairement une
aile active. Elle exige un pilote
très expérimenté qui vole de
façon active et sait pratiquement
anticiper les déformations de
l’aile avant même qu’elles ne
surviennent. En raison de sa plus
grande vitesse de vol et d’un taux
de chute beaucoup plus impor-
tant en virage, la PI 3, en tant que
Mini Voile, est également plus
exigeante à poser.

Grundeinstellung
Belasse den PI 3 grundsätzlich in
der Werkseinstellung. Die Steuer-
leinen sind so eingestellt, dass sie
einen Freilauf von ca. 8 cm auf-
weisen. Der Freilauf dient unter
anderem dazu, dass die Austritts-
kante während des Starts und
im voll beschleunigten Flug bei
vollständig freigegebenen Steuer-
leinen unangebremst ist.
ACHTUNG:
Nimm keine Änderungen am
Gleitschirm vor – er verliert sonst
die Zulassung.
Basic settings
Leave the PI 3 in its factory
settings. The brake-line lengths
are set so there is an initial free
travel of around 8 cm. This free
travel is intended to ensure that
the trailing edge of the wing re-
mains unbraked during takeoffs
and accelerated ight with the
brakes fully released.
CAUTION:
Do not modify your glider –
it will no longer be certied.
Réglages d’origine
Laisse toujours la PI 3 dans ses
réglages d'usine. Les longueurs
des commandes des freins sont
réglées de façon à laisser un
débattement initial de 8 cm envi-
ron. Ce débattement est destiné
à s’assurer que le bord de fuite
de l’aile n’est pas freiné durant
la phase de décollage ou en vol
accéléré quand le pilote relâche
complètement les freins.
ATTENTION:
N’apporte aucune modication
à ton parapente - cela lui fait
perdre son homologation.

Ohrenanlegen
Für einen schnellen und efzi-
enten Abstieg empehlt dir das
ADVANCE Testteam Ohrenanle-
gen. Zum Ohrenanlegen verfügt
der PI 3 in den Grössen 21, 23,
25 und 27 über einen getrennten
A-Tragegurt. Dadurch wird das
Einklappen der Ohren besonders
einfach. Die äussere A-Leine ist
bei allen Grössen rot markiert.
TIPP:
Durch gleichzeitiges Beschleuni-
gen kann die Vorwärts- und Sink-
geschwindigkeit weiter erhöht
werden.
Big Ears
The ADVANCE test team rec-
ommend big ears as a fast and
efcient descent technique. On
the 21, 23, 25 and 27 sizes the PI
3 has split A-risers. This makes
big ears easy to apply. The outer
(big ears) A lines are marked red
in all sizes.
TIP:
Forward and descent speeds can
be increased by applying speed
bar while big ears are applied.
Faire les oreilles
L’équipe de pilotes d’essai d’AD-
VANCE recommande les grandes
oreilles comme technique de
descente rapide et efcace. Sur
les tailles 21, 23, 25 et 27, la PI 3
a des branches A séparées. Cela
facilite la manoeuvre des grandes
oreilles. Les suspentes de bouts
d’aile des A (pour les grandes
oreilles) sont de couleur rouge
dans toutes les tailles.
CONSEIL:
Tu peux augmenter les vitesses
horizontales et de descente en
utilisant l’accélérateur tout en
faisant les grandes oreilles.

Steilspirale
Halte dein Gewicht in der Spirale
neutral. Steilspiralen mit sehr
starken Sinkwerten können bei
Gewichtsverlagerung in die In-
nenseite stabil weiterdrehen. Eine
aktive Verlagerung des Gewichts
auf die Aussenseite und ein
Nachziehen der Aussenbremse
sind erforderlich, um eine stabile
Steilspirale mit starkem Sinken
auszuleiten.
ACHTUNG:
Bei hoher Flächenbelastung
werden schnell hohe Sinkwerte
erreicht. Achte bei der Auslei-
tung auf ausreichend Höhe über
Grund. Generell muss der gleiche
Zeitbedarf wie zum Einleiten ein-
berechnet werden.
Deep Spiral
In a spiral you should keep your
weight neutral in the harness.
Steep spirals with very high
descent rates can become stable
(locked in) if inside weightshift is
applied. Active outside weight-
shift and application of outside
brake are both essential for re-
covery from a high speed, stable
(locked in) spiral.
CAUTION:
Be aware that at high wing
loadings, high descent rates can
be achieved quickly. Make sure
you have plenty of height for
the recovery. As a general rule it
takes the same time to recover as
to initiate this diving behaviour.
Spirale engagée
Dans un départ en spirale, garde
ton poids centré de façon neutre
dans la sellette. Les spirales
serrées avec un très haut taux
de chute peuvent devenir stables
(bloquées) si ton poids est dépla-
cé vers l’intérieur du virage. Un
déplacement du poids du corps
vers l’extérieur du virage et une
traction sur le frein extérieur sont
deux éléments essentiels pour
sortir d’une spirale stable à haute
vitesse.
ATTENTION :
Garde à l’esprit que lorsque l’aile
est très chargée tu peux rapide-
ment atteindre des taux de chute
importants. Assure-toi que tu as
assez d’altitude pour un retour
en vol normal. En règle générale,
il faut le même temps pour le
retour en vol normal que pour
enclencher la spirale.

MANOEUVRES
Manöver vermeiden
Aufgrund der Leichtbauweise
des PI 3 wird generell davon
abgeraten, Manöver wie Vrillen,
Fullstalls, B-Stalls und Klapper
zu provozieren, z.B. anlässlich
von Sicherheitstrainings. Der PI3
agiert bei hoher Flächenbelas-
tung generell dynamisch bis sehr
dynamisch, insbesondere bei den
kleineren Grössen 16 und 19.
Zudem verstärkt sich die Dyna-
mik beim Beschleunigen zusätz-
lich. Das Beherrschen solcher
Manöver ist sehr anspruchsvoll.
Orange Stabilo-Leine
Versuche im Falle eines Ver-
hängers, diesen über die Stabilo-
Leine zu öffnen. Die Stabilo-Leine
liegt zu äusserst auf dem B Gurt
und ist orange eingefärbt.
Manoeuvres to avoid
Because of the PI 3’s light build
structure the following should
be avoided: manoeuvres such
as spins, full stalls, B-Stalls and
collapses – including during
safety training. At high wing load-
ings the PI 3 generally behaves
dynamically; for the 16 and 19
sizes its behaviour is dynamic to
very dynamic. Speed bar adds to
this characteristic. Managing the
above manoeuvres can be very
difcult under some circumstanc-
es.
Orange Stabilo Line
This is the line that will help you
open a cravat. It is the outermost
B-line, coloured orange.
Manoeuvres à éviter

absolument: vrilles, décrochages
dynamiques, descentes aux B
et fermetures – même dans le
cadre de stages SIV. Avec une

dynamique, voire très dynamique
pour les tailles 16 et 19. Cette
caractéristique est accentuée
en vol accéléré. La maîtrise des
manoeuvres ci-dessus peut se ré-
véler très difcile dans certaines
circonstances.

C’est la suspente qui pourra t’ai-
der à défaire une cravate. C’est la
suspente la plus extérieure des B,
de couleur orange.

NASSER SCHIRM
WET GLIDER
AILE MOUILLÉE
Sackuggefahr
Beim Fliegen mit nassem Schirm
und bei Regen besteht akute
Sackuggefahr. Um der Gefahr
des Sackuges vorzubeugen,
sollte ein nasses Gerät möglichst
wenig angebremst und keinesfalls
die Ohren angelegt werden. Wir
empfehlen dir, in einer solchen
Situation den Schirm leicht zu
beschleunigen. Sollte der Gleit-
schirm trotzdem in den Sackug
gelangen, leite diesen durch Be-
tätigen des Beschleunigers aus.
Risk of parachutal stall
Avoid ying with a wet wing, and
in the rain. There is a serious risk
of parachutal stall. To reduce this
risk a wet glider should be braked
as little as possible, and never
subjected to big ears. We also
recommend that you y slightly
accelerated. If the glider does
go into parachutal stall you can
recover by using speed bar.

Il existe alors un risque de décro-
chage parachutal. Pour minimiser
un tel risque, avec un parapente
mouillé, il convient de freiner
aussi peu que possible, et de ne
jamais faire les grandes oreilles.
Dans une telle situation, nous te
recommandons de voler légère-
ment accéléré. Si le parapente a
tendance à se mettre en vol pa-
rachutal, l’utilisation de l’accélé-
rateur te permet de revenir à une
conguration de vol normal.

Komprimiert tragen
Packe deinen PI 3 immer Prol-
nase auf Prolnase, so dass
die Wires der Zellwände in der
Eintrittskante alle auf gleicher
Höhe und möglichst ach auf-
einander liegen. Falte den PI 3
auf die Breite des Bodens vom
COMPRESSBAG und klappe ihn in
fünf Teilen zusammen. Lege ihn
anschliessend in den COMPRESS-
BAG und ziehe die Kordel ganz
zu. Am Schluss schliesst du die
seitlichen Zipper, um die Luft
herauszupressen.
Geöffnet lagern
Um deinen PI 3 fachgerecht zu
lagern, solltest du Kordel und
Reissverschluss des COMPRESS-
BAG öffnen. Vermeide, dass dein
PI 3 zu lange komprimiert im
Sack bleibt.
Carry Compressed
Always pack your PI 3 with the
nose wires stacked on top of each
other. Fold the PI 3 to the width
of the bottom of the COMPRESS-
BAG, then fold it in ve. Lay it in
the COMPRESSBAG and pull the
cord completely in, then close the
side zips to squeeze the air out.
Store Open
For extended storing you should
undo the COMPRESSBAG zips and
release the cord so that the wing
does not stay permanently com-
pressed. It’s best left to breathe
when possible.

Plie toujours ta PI 3 jonc contre
jonc du bord d’attaque, de façon
qu’ils soient tous à la même
hauteur. Plie-la à la largeur de
la base du COMPRESSBAG, puis
plie-la en cinq. Place-la dans
le COMPRESSBAG et tire sur le
cordon de serrage jusqu’au bout.
Puis ferme les fermetures éclair
latérales pour chasser tout l’air
du sac.
Stocker ouvert
Pour un stockage de longue du-
rée, tu dois ouvrir les fermetures
éclair et desserrer le cordon pour
que l’aile ne reste pas comprimée
de façon permanente. Il est préfé-
rable de la laisser respirer quand
cela est possible.

Ausschliesslich trocken lagern
Öffne beim Lagern deinen Schirm
immer so, dass er gut durchlüftet
wird. Schon geringe Restfeuchtig-
keit verbunden mit Wärme kön-
nen das Tuch ernsthaft beschädi-
gen (Schimmelbildung!). Kommt
dein Schirm mit Salzwasser in
Kontakt, solltest du ihn gründ-
lich mit Süsswasser ausspülen.
So bleiben die guten Tuchwerte
erhalten.
Always store dry
Even the slightest combination of
damp and warmth can seriously
damage the canopy cloth (mil-
dew)! When stored, open up the
wing so that it gets a good airing.
If your wing gets wet with seawa-
ter you should thoroughly rinse
it in freshwater. It will thank you
with good porosity and strength
scores.
Toujours la ranger sèche
Même la plus légère combinaison
d’humidité et de chaleur peut
sérieusement endommager le
tissu de la voilure (moisissure)!
Quand elle est stockée, laisse la
voile bien ouverte pour qu’elle
puisse s’aérer. Si ta voile a été
en contact avec de l’eau de mer,
tu dois la rincer complètement à
l’eau douce. Elle t’en remerciera
par de bons scores de porosité et
de résistance sur la durée.

Der PI 3 ist ein Leichtschirm. Das
Label „Handle with Care“ soll dich
jederzeit daran erinnern, dass
die Lebensdauer dieses Produkts
in hohem Masse von deiner
Sorgfalt abhängt. Mechanische
Belastungen wie Schleifen am
Boden oder Fallenlassen auf die
Eintrittskante usw. beschleunigen
den Alterungsprozess und sollten
vermieden werden. Ein Leicht-
produkt ist deutlich anfälliger auf
Überbelastungen aller Art.
Handle with Care
The PI 3 is a light wing. The “Han-
dle with Care” advice should be
observed at all times because the
life of this product depends on it.
Physical stresses such as dragging
it over the ground or allowing the
wing to fall on its inated leading
edge accelerate the aging process
and should be avoided. A light
product is clearly more sensitive
to overloading of all kinds.

Gemäss Nachprüfanweisung muss
dein PI 3 zwingend nach 100
Flügen oder 100 Flugstunden
bzw. spätestens nach 24 Monaten
einem Check bei einem zugelas-
senen ADVANCE Checkbetrieb
unterzogen werden.
Garantie
Die ADVANCE Garantie gilt für
Mängel, die auf Fabrikationsfeh-
ler zurückzuführen sind. Schäden
aufgrund von Überbelastung sind
explizit ausgeschlossen. Es gilt
die gesetzliche Gewährleistungs-
picht deines Landes. Wenn du
dein Produkt innerhalb von 10
Tagen bei ADVANCE online regis-
trierst, wird diese um 12 Monate
verlängert. Zudem wirst du um-
gehend per Email über Produkt-
updates und sicherheitsrelevante
Erkenntnisse informiert.
Cycle of Service
The PI 3 should be checked every
24 months or 100 ying hours,

Warranty

line within 10 days of purchase
this cover will be extended by
