It must be ensured that the voltage and current indicated on the
ratingplateagreewiththevoltageoftheusertoelectricitysupply.
If the appliance has been equipped with a mains lead with a
moulded-on type plug, the following regulations must be comply
with:
Theplugmouldedontotheleadincorporatesafuse.Forreplace-
ment,usea5ampBS1362fuse.OnlyASTAapprovedorcertified
fuses should be used. If the fuse cover/carrier is lost, a replace-
ment cover/carrie must be obtained from an electrical goods
retailer. If the socket outlets are not suitable for the plug fitted to
the appliance, then the plug must be cut off and destroyed for
safety reasons, and an appropriate plug be fitted.
When wiring the plug ensure that all strands of wire are securely
retained in each terminal. Do not forget to tighten the mains lead
clamp on the plug.

It is recommended that the socket for the plug is sited above the
cooker hood or above the overhead cabinet.
This has 2 advantages:
1) The socket is not visible.
2) The appliance can easily be unplugged when necessary.
If a fixed connection is required the cooker hood should be
connected by an electrical installer registered with a competent
electricity company. An isolating device is to be provided on the
fixed wiring side. Switches with a contact opening of more than
3mm apply as isolating devices.
These include-automatic cut-out switches, fuses and contactors
(VDE 0730, s. 7, Part1).

The appliance must be connected to fixed wiring with a double
pole switched fused spur outlet with or without pilot lamp.
We strongly recommend the appliance to be connected only by a
qualifiedelectrician whoisa memberof the NICEICwho willcom-
ply with the IEE and any local regulations.
NOTE:
The terminology “DOUBLE POLE” means that both the live
and the neutral supplies are switched and disconnected at
the same time.
The terminations labelled SUPPLY are for the connection for the
internal house wiring and the terminations labelled LOAD are for
the appliance.
IMPORTANT
The wires of the mains lead supplied with this appliance are
coloured in accordance with the following code:

Brown-Live
As the colours of the flexible cord of this appliance may not
correspond with the coloured markings identifying the ter-
minals in the plug, proceed as follows: The wire which is
coloured brown must be connected to the terminal which is
marked with the letter L or coloured red.
The wire which is coloured blue must be connected to the
terminal which is marked with the letter N or coloured black.

When the unit is used in its extractor version, a sufficiently large
ventilation hole must be provided, with dimensions that are
approximately the same as the outlet hole.
Theairoutletmustnotbeconnectedtochimneyfluesorcombus-
tion gas ducts. The air outlet must under no circumstances be
connected to ventilation ducts for rooms in which fuel-burning
appliances are installed.
It is advisable to apply for authorization from the relevant control-
ling authority when connecting the outlet to an unused chimney
flue or combustion gas duct.
The air outlet installation must comply with the regulations laid
down by the relevant authorities.
National and regional building regulations impose a number of
restrictions on using hoods and fuel-burning appliances con-
nected to a chimney, such as coal or oil room-heaters and gas
fires, in the same room.
The local decree on fuel-burning systems specifies a maximum
depression of 0.04 mbar in such rooms.
Hoods can only be used safely with appliances connected to a
chimney if the room and/or flat (air/environment combination) is
ventilated from outside using a suitable ventilation hole approxi-
mately 500-600 cm2 large to avoid the possibility of negative
pressure being created during operation of the hood.
If you have any doubts, contact the relevant controlling authority
or building inspector’s office.
Since the rule for rooms with out fuel burning appliances is “air
inlet should be same size as extractor outlet hole”, an aperture of
500-600 cm2, which is to say a larger hole, could reduce the
performance of the extractor hood.
If the hood is used in its filtering version (carbon filter), it will
operate simply and safely in the above conditions without the
need for any of the aforementioned measures.
Whenthehoodisusedinitsextractorfunction,thefollowingrules
must be followed to obtain optimal operation:
— short and straight outlet hose
— minimum number of bends in the outlet hose
— Install hoses with an acute angle, always following a gentle
curve only
— hose as large as possible (100 mm Ø).
Failure to observe these basic rules will drastically reduce the
performance and increase the noise levels of the extractor hood.

When used as an extractor unit, the hood must be fitted with a
100mm diameter hose.
If the fumes must be forced out through the wall, you must obtain
a MKZ sizable wall exhaust pipe (with external exhaust and air
intake), E-Nr.- 610 899 004 (Ø 120 mm) which is one of our
optional parts.
When installing the hood, make sure you respect the follow-
ing minimum distance from the top edge of the cooking hob/
ring surfaces:
electric cookers 650 mm
gas cookers 700 mm
coal and oil cookers 900 mm min.
General details
The hood is supplied as a ducted version, but may also be used
inrecirculationmodebyinsertingacharcoal filter(Specialacces-
sories).
The air is ducted out through a pipe which is connected to the
outlet hole A(fig. 1) by means of a coupling flange B.
To connect the hood to a wall box, you use hoses and wall boxes
as offered on the AEG price list as optional extras.

After having adjusted the hood for the version required, it may be
installed.
This appliance is designed for fitting in a cabinet or some other
support.
The opening to be made on the bottom of the wall-hung cabinet
must correspond with the measurements shown in fig. 4
(495 X 260 mm).
To fix the hood proceed as follows:
a) remove the grid.
b) Fit the hood into the opening.
c) Secure the unit to the cabinet by screwing up screws through
holes C(fig. 4).
d) Replace the grid.

The hood is fitted with one variable speed motor.
The most effective use of the hood is obtained by switching it on
a few minutes before you start cooking and leaving it on a for
approximately 5-15 minutes after having finished, thus ensuring
that all that cooking odours are eliminated.
Never leave a cooking hob or ring on without a pot or pan on
topofit,to avoid the possibility ofexcess heatdamaging the
unit.Gas,oilorcoalcookerflamesinparticularshouldnever
be left uncovered.
Special care should be taken when using deep fat fryers
since the oil in them can overheat and burst into flames.
The risk of fat catching fire is increased when using dirty oil.
It is extremely important to note that overheating can cause
a fire.
Never carry out any flambé cooking under the hood.
Always disconnect the unit from the power supply before
carrying out any work on the hood, including replacing the
light bulb (take thecartridgefuse out ofthe fuse holderorswitch
off the automatic circuit breaker).
Itis very important to cleanthe hood and the greasefilters at
the recommended intervals. Failure to do so could cause
grease deposits to build up, causing a fire hazard.

Thehood isfitted withavariablespeedmotor.Themosteffective
useofthehoodisobtainedbyswitchingitonafewminutesbefore
youstartcookingandleavingitonaforapproximately15minutes
after you have finished, thus ensuring all cooking odours are
eliminated. The control switches are located on the unit’s front
panel: the light switch (A) switches the hood lamp on and off;
the motor switch (B) switches the cooking smoke and vapour
extractormotor onand off,enablingyoutoselect oneof thethree
different speeds.

Before performing any maintenance operation, disconnect the
hood from the electricity.
The hood has a metal grease filter.
To clean the filter, proceed as follows:
Open the grill by turning knob A(fig. 2).
Pull the two plastic stops Bas shown by the arrows (fig. 5) and
remove the metal filter.
Youshouldtakeoutthemetalfiltereveryfourweeksandwashit
either in the dishwashing machine or by hand.
Clean the internal housing only with warm washing-up water —
do not use any harsh cleaners, brushes, or abrasive.
Soakmetalfiltercassetteforaboutonehourinhotwaterwithagrease-
looseningcleaner,thenrinseoffthoroughlywithhotwater.Repeatthe
process if necessary.
Re-fit the cassette when it is dry.
Placemetalfiltercassetteindishwasher.Selectmostpowerfulwashing
program and highest temperature, at least 65° C. Repeat the process.
Re-fit the cassette when it is dry.
Whenwashingthemetalgreasefilterinthedishwasheraslightdiscoloration
of the filter can occur.

Always turn off the electricity before replacing lamps!
1) Remove the grid (Fig. 2) in order to check the lamps and
replace them if necessary.
2) Unscrew the lamps that do not work and replace them with
40W max lamps (E14).
If the light does not function, check that the lamps are properly
screwed before contacting a customers’ service centre.

Warning: always disconnect the hood from the mains power
supply before cleaning it.
Never insert pointed objects in the motor’s protective grille.
Wash the outside surfaces using a mild detergent solution.
Never use caustic detergents or abrasive brushes or pow-
ders.
Onlyevercleantheswitchpanelandfiltergrilleusingadamp
cloth and mild detergents.
It is extremely important to clean the unit and change the
filters at the recommended intervals. Failure to do so will
causegreasedeposits to build upthatcould constitute a fire
hazard.
Attention
Failure to observe the rules for cleaning the appliance and
changing and cleaning the filters may cause fire. Therefore,
properly observing these instructions is highly recommended.

What to do if
If your appliance fails to work properly please carry out the
following checks.

have been made as the engineer will make a charge if the fault
is not a mechanical or electrical breakdown.

Guarantee conditions
Guarantee Conditions
AEG offer the following guarantee to the first purchaser of this
appliance.
1. The guarantee is valid for 12 months commencing when the
appliance is handed over to the first retail purchaser, which
must be verified by purchase invoice or similar
documentation.The guarantee does not cover commercial
use.
2. The guarantee covers all parts or components which fail
due to faulty workmanship or faulty materials. The
guarantee does not cover appliances where defects or poor
performance are due to misuse, accidental damage,
neglect, faulty installation, unauthorised modification or
attempted repair, commercial use or failure to observe
requirements and recommendations set out in the
instruction book.This guarantee does not cover such parts
as light bulbs, removable glass-ware or plastic.
3. Should guarantee repairs be necessary the purchaser must
inform the nearest customer service office (manufacturer`s
service or authorised agent). AEG reserves the right to
stipulate the place of the repair (i.e.the customer`s home,
place of installation or AEG workshop).
4. The guarantee or free replacement includes both labour and
materials.
5. Repairs carried out under guarantee do not extend the
guarantee
period for the appliance. Parts removed during guarantee
repairs become the property of AEG.
6. The purchaser`s statutory rights are not affected by this
guarantee.
European Guarantee
If you should move to another country within Europe then your
guarantee moves with you to your new home subject to the
following qualifications:
- The guarantee starts from the date you first purchased your
product.
- The guarantee is for the same period and to the same
extent for labour and parts as exist in the new country of
use for this brand or range of products.
- This guarantee relates to you an cannot be transferred to
another user.
- Your new home is within the European Community (EC) or
European Free Trade Area.
