FOXX is a powerful pylon racer. Building materials are mostly balsa and light-ply to achieve a light yet strong structure for maximum flying
performance. Due to its considerable top speed this model is recommended for experienced pilots only. We use mostly laser-cut parts for maximum
precision and to speed up the building process. Wing spars are spruce with sheet webs at the wing root for additional strength. Power is provided by
suitable inrunners with a diameter of 28 mm.
Construction should be according to the step-by-step instructions provided in this manual. Use the parts list to identify the included stripwood and
hardware. Always check that parts fit perfectly and correct, if necessary, before you glue. Give
glue sufficient time to dry or cure, before you proceed to the next step.
We recommend white glue (if not otherwise noted) for gluing, which offers good strength and
low weight. White glue retains a certain degree of elasticity after the glue has cured and will
stand up to any loads which occur during flying.

Protect your building board with cling film and position
right fuselage side R 1 on building board.
Attention: The fine lines indicating the position of
the canopy need to be visible on the outside of the
fuselage!
Glue in place wing support R 10 together with formers
R 4 and R 5. Make sure R 10 follows contour of wing
cut-out exactly. Remove any glue from slot at rear end
of R 10.
Glue wing support R 10 to inside of left fuselage side
R 2.

Cut to length 8×8 mm triangular stock R 18, glue to
inside of fuselage sides flush with fuselage contour
and secure with pins.

Tips & Hints
Laser-cut parts are retained in laser sheets by
means of small tabs. Use a sharp modelling
knife to cut the tabs. Do not remove parts by

Chamfer lower edge of former R 6 to match installed positon behind former R 5
and temporarily insert in slots in right fuselage side behind R 5.
Glue R 9 at an angle of 90° to servo tray R 8. Temporarily insert R 8/R 9 in slots in
rigth fuselage side below R 6.
Insert R 7 in slot at rear end of R 10.

Position left fuselage side R 2 onto tabs of formers
and check for proper fit. Then remove left fuselage
side from formers.
Glue in place wing mount R 7, apply glue to formers
R 4, R 5 and glue left fuselage side in place. Secure
fuselage with suitable weight until glue has
completely dried.
Note: Leave R 6 and R 8/R 9 in installed position,
but do not glue!

Sand triangular stock at rear end of fuselage so that fuselage sides meet.
Apply glue to R 6, R 8/R 9 and to contact surfaces of triangular stock, draw
fuselage sides together and secure with clamps and/or pins until glue has
dried.
Attention: Make sure fuselage is absolutely symmetrical!

Select R 3 A or R 3 B for motor installation depending on the type of
motor you use.
Use R 3 A for 28 mm inrunners. Openings for the passage of cooling
air are arranged to guide cooling air through spinner and around
motor.
Use R 3 B for 28 mm outrunners. Openings for the passage of
cooling air are arranged to guide cooling air through openings in
front end shield of motor.
Tabs on all four sides allow for installation that suits motor best. Cut
off top and bottom tabs before you glue sheeting material in place.
Draw fuselage sides together, glue motor mount in place and secure
with clamps and tape.

12 mm from the top drill rear end of fuselage with 2 mm for
elevator control.
Insert snake inner R 19 through rear end of fuselage and
through horizontal slot in former R 9. Apply glue to pushrod
housing at rear end of fuselage only and cut off flush with
fuselage. Do not apply glue to slot in former R 9!

Install elevator servo in servo tray and drill
mounting holes for servo.
Install pushrod connector R 25 to servo horn and
install servo. Note that servo horn faces forward in
installed position. This will enable you to adjust
pushrod or remove servo horn through opening in
former R 6.

Carefully sand top and bottom
contact surfaces of fuselage, then
sheet top and bottom of fuselage
with R 20 (3 mm balsa), grain
crosswise.
Attention: Do not sheet contact
surface of tailplane!

Sand front of fuselage flush with R 3 (A or B) and glue in place
R 11 A or R 11 B (1 mm birch ply), depending on type of motor.
Make sure to match motor mounting holes in R 11 with holes in
R 3!
Note: Depending on diameter of spinner and type of prop
adapter used it may be necessary to glue R 21 (A or B) to the
front of R 11 (A or B). Make sure openings for cooling air and
motor mounting screws match those of R 11.

12 mm from the top drill rear end of fuselage with 2 mm for
elevator control.
Insert snake inner R 19 through rear end of fuselage and

Fit together the two-piece wing jig and secure to
building board with tape.

Glue together two centre ribs F 1. Then insert ribs F 1
to F 10 into jig. If necessary, tack-glue tabs to building
bord with a drop of glue to secure ribs.

Glue in place upper wing spar 11 (5×2 mm spruce). Make
sure all ribs are upright and fully seated in jig.
Glue leading edges F 12 (4×4 mm obechi) to front of ribs.
Insert pins in front of leading edes into jig to hold leading
edges in position.

lightly.
Into rear sheeting panels F 14 cut slots for servo horns
and openings for servo leads as shown.

F 14 (1.5 mm balsa). Fit and glue in place F 13
first.
Attention: The rear end of F 13 must coincide

Carefully sand rear edge of wings flush with ribs. Trial-fit
trailing edges F 16 and cut contact surfaces at wing
centre to appropriate angle. Then glue trailing edges in
place and secure with tape.
Carefully sand top and bottom wing sheeting flush with
end ribs. Wing tips consist of 4 pieces F 17 each. Glue
together, then glue to end ribs.
When dry, sand wing tips and leading edge to shape
and give complete wing a smooth surface.
23 Position wing on fuselage and align centre lines of wing and fuselage. Drill
with 4 mm through wing and R 7 for M4 wing bolt F 19.
Redrill R 7 with 5 mm. From below insert nut R 24 in R 7 and glue in place
with epoxy.
Glue reinforcement F 21 (1 mm birch ply) to top side of
wing. Make sure that holes in wing and reinforcement
match perfectly.

Position wing on fuselage, if necessary correct cut-
out in canopy. Drill with 4 mm through leading edge
for wing dowel F 18.
Insert wing dowel in wing and check wing position
when dowel is seated in former R 4. Correct, if
necessary, then glue dowel in place.

Carefully sand rear edge of wings flush with ribs. Trial-fit
trailing edges F 16 and cut contact surfaces at wing
centre to appropriate angle. Then glue trailing edges in
place and secure with tape.
Carefully sand top and bottom wing sheeting flush with
end ribs. Wing tips consist of 4 pieces F 17 each. Glue
together, then glue to end ribs.
When dry, sand wing tips and leading edge to shape
and give complete wing a smooth surface.
23 Position wing on fuselage and align centre lines of wing and fuselage. Drill
with 4 mm through wing and R 7 for M4 wing bolt F 19.
Redrill R 7 with 5 mm. From below insert nut R 24 in R 7 and glue in place
with epoxy.
Glue reinforcement F 21 (1 mm birch ply) to top side of
wing. Make sure that holes in wing and reinforcement
match perfectly.

Position wing on fuselage, if necessary correct cut-

when dowel is seated in former R 4. Correct, if
necessary, then glue dowel in place.

With soft pencil mark ailerons on trailing edge: aileron cut-outs start 50 mm
from centre line of wing. They are 210 mm long and 18 mm deep.
Cut out ailerons with modeller´s knife and razor saw.

Bevel off front edge of ailerons to provide for sufficient

Cut slots for control horns F 20 into ailerons and glue
control horns in place.
Attention: If you use Z-bends on both ends of control
linkage, glue control horns in place after ailerons have been
attched to wing!
Give the whole model a final sanding and cover it with the covering material of your choice. Use bright and contrasting colours on top and bottom of
wing. This makes it easier to identify the model in the air.
Check that contact surface for tailplane on fuselage is absolutely even. Position wing and tailplane on fuselage and make sure they are parallel.
Remove covering film from contact surface of tailplane and glue tailplane in place.
Roughly cut contol wires R 23 and F 22 for elevator and ailerons, respectively, to length and make Z-bends on one end of wires. From rear end of
fuselage insert elevator control wire R 23 through snake inner R 19 and into connector R 25. Connect elevator to control wire and attach to tailplane
with tape (top and bottom!). Now apply epoxy to snake inner R 19 and secure in slot of former R 9. Attach ailerons with tape (top and bottom!).
Insert Z-bends of control wires into servo horns, cut wires to length and bend the ends over. Attach wires to control horns and secure with snap links
F 23.
Open up openings for cooling air in nose of fuselage. Behind canopy cut an opening for the exit of cooling air in top or bottom sheeting. Either glue
canopy to wing permanently (make hole for wing screw!) or attach to fuselage with tape before each flight.
Install motor, RC equipment and battery and adjust centre of gravity by moving components back and forth. Secure with hook and loop tape. The
centre of gravity location is 48 - 50 mm behind the leading edge, marked on the fuselage side. The wing incidence is 0°. Control throws for elevator
are +/- 5 mm, for ailerons +/- 4 mm.
