Safety Label and Location

1. Inspect the tractor safety equipment to make sure it is in good working condition.
2. Carefully raise and lower the implement to ensure that the drawbar, tires, and other equipment on
the tractor do not contact the frame.
Before Each Use
Hazard Control and accident prevention are dependent upon the awareness, concern, prudence,
and proper training involved in the operation, transport, storage, and maintenance of the Boom Pole.
Therefore, it is absolutely essential that no one operates the Boom Pole without first having read,
fully understood, and become totally familiar with the operator’s Manual. Make sure the operator has
paid particular attention to:
Make the following inspections after attaching the Boom Pole to the tractor:
1. When raising the Boom Pole to transport position, be sure that the equipment does not make
contact with the tractor and the tractor drawbar. Move or remove the drawbar if it interferes with
the Boom Pole.
2. Be sure to reduce the tractor ground speed when turning; and, leave enough clearance so that
the Boom Pole does not contact obstacles such as buildings, trees, or fences.
3. Select a safe ground travel speed when transporting from one area to another. When traveling on
roadways, transport in such a way that faster moving vehicles may pass you safely.
4. When traveling over rough or hilly terrain, shift the tractor to a lower gear.
CAUTION! When traveling on public roads whether at night or during the day, use accessory light and
devices for adequate warning to operators of other vehicles. Comply with all federal, state, and local

General Operating Instructions
Before using your Boom Pole, it is very important that you read and familiarize yourself with the Owner’s
Manual.
Practice
Practicing the different attachment combinations and adjustments that are possible with your Boom Pole
should have you familiar with this product in a very short amount of time. A 3-point category I hitch is
required. The lower 3-point arms of the 3-point hitch must be stabilized to prevent side-to -side
movement. Most tractors have sway blocks or adjustable chains for this purpose.
Tractor Hook-Up
1. Park on a level, solid surface.
2. Slowly back the tractor up to the Boom Pole while using the tractor’s 3-point hydraulic control to align
the lower hitch arms ball swivels with the hitch lugs on the Boom Pole.
3. Engage the tractor’s parking brake, shut the tractor’s engine off, and remove the key before
dismounting the tractor.
4. Attach the lower arms to the hitch pins and secure with linch pins. (Linch pins are not included with
boom pole.)
5. Connect the top center link to the upper hitch using the customer supplied clevis pin and linch pin. If
required, start the tractor and slowly raise the 3-point hitch about 1 - 2" to align the center link with the
Boom Pole’s center hitch pin hole.
6. Ensure that the lower hitch arms are supported to prevent excessive side movement.
7. Return to the tractor and slowly operate the controls up and down to check for clearance between the
Boom Pole and the tractor tires, frame, and drawbar. Move or remove the drawbar if it interferes with the
Boom Pole.
8. Manually adjust one of the two lower lift arms up or down to level the Boom Pole from left to right.
9. Manually adjust the length of the top center link to level the Boom Pole from front to rear.

After Each Use
Unhooking the Boom Pole
1. Park on a level, solid surface.
2. Lower the Boom Pole until the object is resting on level ground or until its main beam is resting on
solid supports.
3. Engage the tractor parking brake, shut the tractor engine off, and remove the key before
dismounting the tractor.
4. Stabilize the Boom Pole with bracing before unhooking the tractor’s 3-point arms. Make sure the
bracing is secure and will not slip while unhooking.
5. Unhook the 3-point hitch from the tractor.
6. Remove the bracing and rotate the Boom Pole down so that it is laying on the ground or use
auxiliary supports, such as planted posts, to prevent the possibility of the unit tipping over.
Maintenance
Clean, inspect, service, and make necessary repairs to the Boom Pole when parking it for long
periods and when parking it at the end of a working season. This will help ensure that the Boom Pole
is ready for field use the next time you hook up to it. Clean off any dirt or grease that may have
accumulated on the Boom Pole. Scrape off compacted dirt and then wash the surface thoroughly with
a garden hose.
1. Inspect the Boom Pole for loose, damaged, or worn parts. Adjust and tighten loose parts or
replace if needed.
2. Clean dirt, oil, and grease from areas where the paint has been worn, chipped, or scratched.
Prime the bare metal surfaces after cleaning and repaint to prevent rust.
3. Follow the unhooking instructions (above) when disconnecting the Boom Pole from the tractor.
4. Store the Boom Pole in a clean, dry place. Inside storage will reduce maintenance and make for a
longer tool life.
5. Lay the unit down on the ground or ensure that the main frame is stable by using auxiliary
supports, such as planted posts, to prevent the possibility of the unit tipping over.
