How To Use This Manual
This manual is intended to be a guide to Industrial Climate Engineering’s line of DC Powered
Cabinet Climate Control air conditioners. It contains installation, troubleshooting, maintenance,
warranty, and application information. The information contained in this manual is to be used
by the installer as a guide only. This manual does not supersede or circumvent any applicable
national or local codes.
If you are installing the air conditioner first read Chapter 1 and scan the entire manual before
beginning the installation as described in Chapter 2. Chapter 1 contains general, descriptive
information and provides an overview, which can speed up the installation process and simplify
troubleshooting.
If a malfunction occurs, follow this troubleshooting sequence:
1. Make sure you understand how the air conditioner works (Chapters 1 & 3).
2. Identify and correct installation errors (Chapter 2).
3. Refer to the troubleshooting information (Chapter 4).
If you are still unable to correct the problem, contact the Factory at 1-229-273-9558 for additional
assistance.

Important Safety Precautions
1. USE CARE when LIFTING or TRANSPORTING equipment.
2. TRANSPORT the UNIT UPRIGHT. Laying it down on its side may cause the fan to shift
in its mounting or damage to other components.
3. TURN ELECTRICAL POWER OFF AT THE breaker or fuse box BEFORE installing or
working on the equipment. LINE VOLTAGES ARE HAZARDOUS or LETHAL.
4. OBSERVE and COMPLY with ALL applicable PLUMBING, ELECTRICAL, and
BUILDING CODES and ordinances.

Chapter 1: Description & Specifications
1.1 Foreword
Note: All of the operations of this product shall be performed by professional engineers
and technicians.
This manual shall only be used as the guide for the installation and operation of the ICE
EC06HDNC1U & EC20HDNC1U Cabinet Air Conditioners. It introduces the functions
and regular maintenances of the unit.
1.2 General Description
Industrial Climate Engineering’s 220VAC Cabinet Climate Control Air Conditioners are
used primarily to cool data centers, outdoor telecom cabinets and electronic and mechanical
equipment shelters (E-Houses). Due to the internal heat load, these shelters require cooling
even when outside temperatures are 60°F (15°C) and below. ICE air conditioners have the
necessary controls and components for operation within these temperatures.
The internal cycle air path absorbs the hot air from the upside, and discharges the cold air
from the downside of the air conditioner. The external cycle air path absorbs the external
cold air from the downside, and discharges the hot air from the upside after heat exchange,
as shown in Figure1.

IMPORTANT
The air conditioner shall be kept vertically strictly in accordance with the
instructions on the package during transportation, storage and use.

Chapter 2: Installation & Operation
2.1 Unpacking and Inspection
The standard package of this product is a carton. To remove the package, remove the
external straps first, and then open the top cover and pull out the carton. Please check
the packing list and accessory bags in the carton.
Note:
1. When the package is removed, make sure that the air conditioner is placed
vertically. It cannot be placed horizontally or upside down.
2. When the external package is removed, please check carefully whether the
appearance of the air conditioner is damaged or whether there is any oil stain. If
any damage is found, please report this with the serial number on the package to
ICE.
3. If there is no need to install the product immediately or it needs to be transported to
other place, please repack the air conditioner after checking.
4. To protect the environment, it’s recommended that you recycle the packing cartons.

2.2 Preparation Before Installing
Please pay attention to the following points before the installation:
• The placement of the equipment inside the cabinet shall be proper. For example,
any obstruction to the internal cycle air inlet and outlet of the air conditioner
should be avoided.
• The layout of drainage channels should be fully considered.
2.3 Mechanical Installation of the Air Conditioner
For mechanical installation, please refer to Figure 2, and install the Air Conditioner in
the cabinet.

2.4 Electrical Installation
The electrical installation of the air conditioner includes:
• Connecting the power cables
• Connecting the communication & alarm output cables
IMPORTANT
All the electrical connections should comply with the standards of the national
and local electrical codes. Please disconnect all the power supplies for the air
conditioner before the installation.
WARNING FIRE HAZARD
Improper adjustment, alteration, service, maintenance or installation could cause
serious injury, death and/or property damage.
Installation or repairs made by unqualied persons could result in hazards to
you and others. Installation MUST conform with local codes or, in the absence of
local codes, with codes of all governmental authorities have jurisdiction.
The information contained in this manual is intended for use by a qualied
service agency that is experienced in such work, is familiar with all precautions
and safety procedures required in such work, and is equipped with the proper
tools and test instruments.
Select proper wire diameter and circuit protection device according to the air conditioner
data label and technical parameters.
Perform the electrical connection in accordance with the following steps:
1. Make sure that the air conditioner power is disconnected.
2. Connect the power cable to the input terminal according to the schematic diagram
for power terminal.
3. Connect the power input terminal to the attaching plug of the unit securely and
tighten the terminal screws.
4. Connect the other end of the power cable to the power supply according to the
specifications.
5. Connect the communication & alarm output cable to the input terminal according
to the specifications.
6. Connect the communication & alarm output terminal to the attaching plug of the
unit securely and tighten the terminal screws.
7. Check whether any short circuit or open circuit exists on the power supply cable.
8. Check whether any short circuit or open circuit exists on the communication &
alarm output cable.

2.7 Installation Check List
Use the following checklist when the electrical connection and the air conditioner
installation are completed.
1. There is no obvious obstacle near the internal cycle air inlet and outlet of the air
conditioner.
2. The air conditioner is installed vertically and all the installation screws are
tightened.
3. The power and signal input cables have been connected properly.
4. The input voltage should comply with the standard in section 1.2.
5. The fan can turn freely without abnormal noises.

2.8 Start Up
Turn on the power, the internal fan will run after standby within 30 seconds .If the
cabinet temperature is lower than the set-point, the unit’s internal fan will cause air
recirculation in the cabinet. If the cabinet temperature is higher than the set-point, the
compressor will start, and the external fan is controlled by the condensing pressure.

3.1 Function
The air conditioner’s operation is controlled automatically according to the cabinet
internal temperature. The controller controls the compressor or the fan’s operation
by comparing the cabinet return air’s temperature detected by the internal cycle
temperature sensor with the set-point.
3.2 Operating control mode
3.2.1 Cooling Control
When cabinet temp reach the setting point (cooling stop point + sensitivity), the air
conditioner will run with increased cooling output. When the temperature drops below
the cooling set point, cooling stops.
3.2.2 Heating Control
Heating startup point = heating stop point - heating sensitivity. When the temperature
inside the cabinet is lower than the heating startup point, the heating will start; when the
temperature inside the cabinet is higher than the heating stop point, the heating will stop.

Note:
1. To ensure the reliable operation and maximum energy efficiency of the unit, please
do not change the temperature setting point unless necessary.
2. Cooling parameter should set Factory Defaults for other different units.
3. The heating function is optional.
3.2.3 Component Control Mode
1. Control modern of internal fan:
The inner fan runs in normal speed when system runs normally.
Air conditioner cooling stop point
2. Control mode of external fan:
Air Circulation Mode: The external fan stops.
Cooling Mode:
The external fan’s running speed depends on the condenser’s temperature.
The higher the temperature is, the higher the fan speed is; the lower the
temperature is, the lower the fan speed.
3. Control mode of compressor:
Air Circulation Mode: Compressor stops
Cooling Mode:
The compressor’s running speed depends on the temperature differences
between return air and setting value. The higher the difference is, the higher
the compressor speed; the lower the difference is, the lower the compressor
speed.
3.3 External Fans (Optional)
3.3.1 Discharge Hydrogen at Regular Times
According to the requirement for the environment inside the cabinet, the hydrogen
exhaust fan realizes automatic cycle hydrogen discharging and forced ventilation.
The interval time of each automatic cycle hydrogen discharging is 24 hours and the
discharging time is 5 minutes.

3.3.2 Forced Ventilation
When the compressor does not have cooling capacity (including compressor failure,
power failure), the temperature inside the cabinet is higher than the startup point
(emergency point + 5) of hydrogen discharging fan and the temperature inside the
cabinet is 3ºC higher than that outside the cabinet, start the hydrogen discharging
fan.
3.3.3 Emergency Fan (EC06HDNC1U)
If the compressor does not have sufficient cooling capacity (including compressor
failure, power failure), the temperature inside the cabinet is higher than the startup
point of Emergency Fan and the temperature inside the cabinet is 4ºC higher than
that outside the cabinet, start the Emergency Fan.
3.3.4 Energy Saving Fan (EC06HDNC1U)
When the temperature inside the cabinet is higher than the startup point of Energy
saving fan and the temperature inside the cabinet is 4ºC higher than that outside the
cabinet, start the Energy saving fan.
3.4 Door Magnetic Switch Signal (Optional on EC20HDNC1U)
After determining whether the cabinet door is opening or not using the signal sent by the
door magnetic switch, the air conditioner will alarm and stop (stopping is an option ).
3.5 Self Testing
The unit provides the self testing function for the onsite test. The self testing procedures
are as below:
1. Select the “Diagnosis” function in the “Set Up” menu, the unit will start the self
testing procedure automatically.
2. The indoor fan run for 30 seconds.
3. The compressor and the outdoor fan run for 3 minutes.
4. The compressor and outdoor fan stop and heater work for 2 minutes (optional).
5. The external fan (hydrogen discharging fan and so on) run for 2minutes (optional)
6. The external fan stop, and then the unit works according to the normal logic.
3.6 Alarms
The cabinet air conditioner provides the following alarm information. See Table 6 for
alarm parameters and settings.
If the alarm hasn’t been recovered, the alarm information will be still on, until the alarm
has been eliminated. And you can check the alarm statistics through entering the alarm
menu shown as Figure 6.

3.7 Monitoring
The air conditioner communicates with the upper monitor through the RS485
communication interface. Or users can check the air conditioner’s running state by
viewing the display screen directly and change its running parameters.

3.8 Operational Menu Structure
The unit controller utilizes a 96x32 LCD, which contains 7 buttons for adjusting the
settings. The operation interface is as shown in the following figure.

ON/OFF: ON/OFF Button, (long press this button, about 4s) this can be used to turn
on/off the unit.
Up Button, which is used to select the previous record/menu or increase the
setting value (password only).
Down button, which is used to select the next record/menu or decrease the
setting value (password only).
Left button, which is used to increase the setting value during the parameter
setting or select the previous bit of the data during the password setting.
Right button, which is used to decrease the setting value during the parameter
setting or select the next bit of the data during the password setting.
ENTER: ENTER button, which is used to confirm the entry.
ESC: Quit button, which is used to return to the previous page menu.
If there is no keyboard operation for a continuous 60 seconds, it will automatically
return to the normal display interface.
When any button is pressed after the system is powered up, the backlight will turn on. If
there is no keyboard operation for a continuous 60 seconds, the backlight will turn off.
The factory default operation password of the unit is “0001”. To change it, press ENTER
on the normal display interface to enter the password input interface, press the LEFT
button or RIGHT button to select the digits to change, and press the UP/DOWN button
to change the relevant digits, and finally press ENTER button to confirm the change.
If the password is incorrect, the interface will display an error message, and the unit
setting cannot be changed. If the password is correct, you can enter the main menu and
edit the unit setting.

4.1 Routine Maintenance
WARNING
All maintenance should be performed by qualified professionals. Always disconnect
the power, communication and alarm output cables of the air conditioner before any
maintenance and do not reconnect them until the maintenance is completed.
To ensure the normal operation of the air conditioner, please perform regular
maintenance for it by referring to the table below.

Chapter 5: Troubleshooting
5.1 Fan Faults
Symptom Possible Cause Remedy
Internal cycling fan
cannot run
Air conditioner is in the
standby state
It is a normal case ,air conditioner will get into
the automatic control logic after being power
on and in the standby for 30s.
Fan blade is stuck Check if there is any foreign object that
blocks the fan.
The terminal is loose Check if the fan connecting terminal is loose
External cycling fan
cannot run
The compressor is not
started
The outside fan can run after the compressor
starts.
Fan blade is stuck Check if there is any foreign object that
blocks the fan.
The terminal is loose Check if the fan connecting terminal is loose
Fan makes abnor-
mal noise
Worn bearing Replace the fan.
The blades of fan
scratch other objects
Check whether there are any interferences
between the cable and the blades of the fan.
The external
hydrogen discharge
fan does not work
Setting error or the
operating condition has
not been satised
Check if the operating condition is satised.
Power cut-off Check the external power supply.
The fan cannot work Replace the fan.
The default is not
opened
Make sure whether there is an external fan
linkage function conguration.

5.2 Cooling System Faults
Symptom Possible Cause Remedy
The compressor
can not start
The power supply is

Check the main power switch, and check if
the startup interface is displayed.
Loose circuit
connection Tighten the circuit connectors.
The compressor motor
burns out
Check the motor and replace it if any defect
is found.
The compressor
can-not work
There is no cooling
demand
Check the display of the temperature inside
the cabinet and the compressor output status
on the operation interface.
Within shutdown delay
The compressor has the shortest shutdown
time in normal state. If the temperature rises
to the starting point during this period, the
compressor still would not start until the time
delay expires.
High discharge
pressure
The condenser is
clogged by dirt Clean the condenser.
The condenser fan
does not work Refer to table 7.
The evaporator
freeze up
The internal circulation
fan is not running Refer to table 7.
The capillary
temperature sensor
can not work
Check whether the connection is normal ,if
not ,replace the capillary temperature sensor.
