Installation
1 Water and moisture — Do not use this unit near water,
such as near a bathtub, washbowl, swimming pool, or the
like.
2 Heat — Do not use this unit:
—near sources of heat, including heating vents, stoves, or
other appliances that generate heat
—in an area exposed to direct sunlight
—inside a parked car, where could be a considerable rise in
temperature
3 Mounting surface — Place the unit on a flat, even surface.
4 Ventilation — The unit should be situated with adequate
space around it so that proper heat ventilation is assured.
Allow 10 cm clearance from the unit.
—Do not place the unit on a bed, rug, or similar surface that
may block the ventilation openings.
—Do not install the unit in a bookcase, cabinet, or airtight
rack where ventilation may be impeded.
5 Objects and liquid entry — Take care that objects or
liquids do not get inside the unit through the ventilation
openings.

SICHERHEITSVORKEHRUNGEN
Lesen Sie vor der Inbetriebnahme die Bedienungsanleitung
sorgfaltig durch, und heben Sie sie zum spateren Nachschlagen
gut auf. Alle Warnungs- und Vorsichtshinweise in der Anleitung
sowie die folgenden Sicherheitshinweise missen unbedingt

Installation
1 Wasser und Feuchtigkeit — Betreiben Sie das Gerat nicht
in der Nahe eines Wasserbeckens oder Swimmingpools und
auch nicht im Badezimmer oder an sonstigen Platzen, an
denen es Feuchtigkeit ausgesetzt sein kénnte.
2 Warmequellen — Halten Sie das Gerat
-~von Heizkérpern, Ofen und von
warmeabgebenden Geraten sowie von
—prailem Sonnenlicht fern, und
—lassen Sie es nicht in einem in der Sonne geparkten Auto
zuruck, da die Innentemperatur im Auto sehr hoch
ansteigen kann.
‘3 Aufstellung — Stellen Sie das Gerat auf eine waagerechte,
ebene Unterlage.
4 Ventilation — Achten Sie darauf, daf3 um das Gerat herum
mindestens 10 cm Platz frei bleibt, damit ausreichende
Luftzirkulation gewahrleistet ist.
-Stellen Sie das Gerat nicht auf eine Bettdecke, einen
Teppich oder andere Teile, die die Ventilationséffnungen
blockieren kénnten.
~Stellen Sie das Gerat nicht in ein Bucherregal, einen
Schrank oder ein geschlossenes Gestell, da an diesen
Stellen keine ausreichende Luftzirkulation gewahrleistet
ist.
5 Fremdkorper und Flissigkeit — Achten Sie sorgfaltig
darauf, daB kein Fremdkdérper und keine Fliissigkeit durch
die Ventilationséffnungen in das Gerat gelangen..

PRECAUTIONS

Installation
1 Eau et humidité — N’utilisez pas cet appareil prés de l'eau

3 Surface d’installation — Placez l'appareil sur une surface

Pappareil pour assurer une bonne dissipation de la chaleur.

Electric Power
1 Power sources — Connect this unit only to power sources
specified in the Operating Instructions, and as marked on
the unit.
2 AC power cord
—When disconnecting the power cord, pull it out by the AC
power plug.
Do not pull the cord itself.
—Never handle the AC power plug with wet hands, as this
could result in fire or shock.
—Do not walk on the power cord or pinch it by items placed
upon or against it, as these could result in fire or shock.
—Avoid overloading power sockets and extension cords
beyond their capacity, as this could result in fire or shock.
3 When not in use — Unplug the AC power cord from the
~ power socket if the unit will not be used for several months
or more. When the cord is plugged in, a small amount of
current.continues to flow to the unit, even when the power is
turned off.

DIE PUFFERBATTERIE
Bei einem Stromausfall erlischt die Uhrzeitanzeige, und die
eingestellte Alarmzeit wird geléscht. Um dies zu verhindern,
legen Sie eine 6F22-Batterie (Pufferbatterie) in das
Batteriefach an der Geratertickseite ein. > @
* Die Putferbatterie erméglicht keinen Betrieb des Radios.
Hinweis
Die Pufferbatterie kann einen Stromausfall von zehn Minuten
uberbrticken. Wenn der Stromausfall [anger als zehn Minuten
dauert, mtissen Sie die Uhrzeit neu einstellen.
Auswechseln der Pufferbatterie
Zur Uberprtifung der Pufferbatterie trennen Sie das Netzkabel
einmal ab und schlieBen Sie es wieder an. Wenn
anschlieBend die Uhrzeitanzeige blinkt und der Alarm-Timer
nicht mehr arbeitet, muB die Batterie ausgewechselt werden.
Zum Herausnehmen der Pufferbatterie ziehen Sie am Band @.
Hinweise zur Pufferbatterie
¢ Wenn das Gerat sehr lange Zeit nicht verwendet wird,
nehmen Sie die Pufferbatterie heraus, um Schaden durch
Auslaufen des Elektrolyts zu verhindern.
¢ Versuchen Sie niemals, die Batterie aufzuladen oder
auseinanderzunehmen und halten Sie sie von Hitze fern. Der
Elektrolyt kann sonst auslaufen, oder die Batterie kann
explodieren.
FONCTION D’ALIMENTATION
DE SECOURS
En cas de coupure de courant, I’affichage d’horloge disparait
et le régiage d’alarme est annulé. Pour sauvegarder |’horloge
et 'alarme, insérez une pile 6F22 dans le logement piles situé
a larriére de l'appareil. > @
¢ La pile d’alimentation de secours n’est pas destinée a la
réception de la radio.
Remarque
La fonction d’alimentation de secours dure environ 10 minutes.
Refaites le réglage de J’horloge si 10 minutes se sont écoulées
aprés une coupure de courant.
Remplacement de fa pile
Rempiacez la pile par une neuve si l’affichage de l’horloge
clignote ou si le programmateur d’alarme ne fonctionne pas
correctement lorsque vous rebranchez le cordon secteur.
Tirez sur le ruban @) pour retirer la pile.
Remarques sur la pile
«Si vous ne prévoyez pas d’utiliser l’appareil pendant
longtemps, retirez la pile afin d’empécher une fuite
électrolyte.
¢ Pour empécher une fuite d’électrolyte ou une explosion, ne
rechargez jamais la pile, ne la chauffez pas et ne la
démontez pas.

1 Connect the AC power cord to a wall outlet (@).
The clock display begins flashing.
2 While holding down CLOCK, press UP or DOWN to set
the clock.
Using the UP button changes the time faster.
The clock starts running at “00” seconds.
To display the seconds, press SNOOZE.

About the clock display
You can change the brightness of the clock display.
Set the DIMMER switch to select the brightness of the display.
To turn off the clock display, set the DIMMER switch to
DISPLAY OFF. However, it may not go out when using in a
bright place. ;
Even if the DIMMER switch is set to DISPLAY OFF, you.can
see the clock display for about 5 — 10 seconds by placing your
hand on the sensor @ of the unit.

1 SchlieBen Sie das Netzkabel an einer Steckdose an (@).

Hinweis zur Helligkeit der Uhrzeitanzeige
Mit dem DIMMER-Schalter kénnen Sie die Helligkeit der
_ Anzeige andern. Wird der Schalter auf DISPLAY OFF gestelit,
erlischt die Uhrzeitanzeige. (An sehr hellen Platzen erlischt sie
jedoch nicht.)
Wenn Sie bei auf DISPLAY OFF stehendem DIMMER-
Schalter die Uhrzeit sehen wollen, halten Sie Ihre Hand vor
den Sensor @). Die Uhrzeit erscheint dann etwa fiinf bis zehn
Sekunden lang.

A propos de l’affichage de l’horloge
ll est possible de modifier la luminosité de Vaffichage de
l'horloge. Réglez la luminosité avec le sélecteur DIMMER.
Pour couper l’affichage de I’horloge, réglez le sélecteur
DIMMER a DISPLAY OFF. Toutefois, i! pourra ne pas
s’éteindre si l'appareil est utilisé 4 un endroit trés éclairé.
Méme si le sélecteur DIMMER est réglé 4 DISPLAY OFF, il
sera possible de voir l'affichage de l'horloge pendant environ
5 -— 10 secondes en mettant la main sur le capteur @ sur
l'appareil.

Listening with an earphone
Connect an optional earphone with a monaural mini- plug to
the EARPHONE jack on the rear of the unit.
When the earphone is connected, the sound pratee the
speaker will not be heard.

1 Stellen Sie ALARM/POWER auf ON.
2 Stellen Sie BAND auf FM (UKW) oder AM (MW).
3 Stimmen Sie am TUNING-Regler auf den Sender ab.
4 Stellen Sie die Lautstarke ein.
Zum Ausschalten des Radios
Stellen Sie ALARM/POWER auf ¢) STANDBY.
Optimaler Empfang — ®
UKW: Breiten Sie die UKW-Kabelantenne auf volle Lange aus.
MW: Drehen Sie das Gerat, bis der Empfang optimal ist.
Hinweis
Verbinden Sie den UKW-Antennendraht nicht mit einer
AuBenantenne.
Betrieb mit Ohrhérer
An die EARPHONE-Buchse auf der Gerateriickseite kénnen
Sie einen getrennt erhaltlichen Ohrhdrer mit Mono-Ministecker
anschlieBen.
Der Lautsprecher wird dabei abgeschaltet.
RECEPTION RADIO
1 Placez ALARM/POWER sur ON.
2 Choisissez FM ou AM avec BAND.
3 Tournez la commande TUNING pour faire l'accord sur
une station.
4 Réglez le volume.
Pour arréter la radio
Placez ALARM/POWER sur (© STANDBY.
Pour améliorer la réception > @
FM: Déployez complétement l’antenne-fil FM.
AM: Tournez l'appareil pour trouver la position offrant la
meilleure réception.
Remarque
Ne pas raccorder l’antenne-fil FM a une antenne extérieure.
Ecoute avec des écouteurs
Raccordez les écouteurs en option avec une miniprise
monaurale a la prise EARPHONE a Parriére de l'appareil.
Le son du haut-parieur sera assourdi a la connexion des
écouteurs.

Eee
The radio or buzzer automatically sounds at the designated
time every day.
You can. set two different alarm times, one in ALARM 4 and
one in ALARM 2, so that the alarm timer operates twice a day.
1 Set ALARM MODE to 1 or 2.
You cannot set the alarm time when ALARM MODE is set to
14+2.
2 While holding down ALARM, press UP or DOWN to set
the alarm time.
3 Set ALARM/POWER to RADIO or BUZZER.
The ALARM indicator 1 or 2 (@) lights up in the display.
When the preset time comes, the radio or buzzer sounds.
To turn off the alarm, press SLEEP ALARM/OFF or
SNOOZE. When SNOOZE is pressed, the buzzer will
automatically come on again after about 7 minutes.
To check the alarm time
Set ALARM MODE to 1 or 2 and press ALARM. The alarm
time will be displayed.
To change the alarm time
Set the alarm time again.
Listening to radio while the alarm is set
Set ALARM/POWER to ON. After listening, set the switch to
RADIO or BUZZER.
Note
¢ The radio or buzzer automatically turns off after about 1 hour.
¢ To cancel the alarm before the preset time comes, set
ALARM/POWER to ® STANDBY. The ALARM 1 and
ALARM 2 indicators go off in the display.

EINSTELLEN DER ALARMZEIT
Der Alarm-Timer aktiviert das Radio.oder den Summer jeden
Tag wieder zu der von Ihnen eingestellten Zeit.
Falls erwdnscht, k6nnen Sie auch zwei Alarmzeiten (ALARM 17 und
ALARM 2) speichern, so da der Alarm taglich zweimal anspricht.
1 Stellen Sie ALARM MODE auf 1 oder 2.
Wenn ALARM MODE auf 1 + 2 steht, kann die Alarmzeit
nicht eingestellt werden.
2 Stellen Sie die Alarmzeit ein, indem Sie ALARM
gedriickt halten und gleichzeitig UP oder DOWN
driicken.
3 Stellen Sie ALARM/POWER auf RADIO oder BUZZER
(Summer).
Die Anzeige ALARM 1 oder 2 (@) leuchtet im Display auf.
Zur eingestellten Zeit ert6nt das Radio oder der Summer.
Zum Abschalten des Alarmtons driicken Sie SLEEP
ALARM/OFF oder SNOOZE. Wenn Sie SNOOZE driicken,
ist der Alarm erneut nach etwa sieben Minuten zu héren.
Zum Uberpriifen der Alarmzeit
Stellen Sie ALARM MODE auf 1 oder 2, und driicken Sie
ALARM. Die Alarmzeit wird dann angezeigt.
Zum Andern der Alarmzeit
Wiederholen Sie den obigen Einstelivorgang.
So kénnen Sie nach Einstelten der Alarmzeit Radio héren
Stellen Sie ALARM/POWER auf ON, um das Radio zu
betreiben. Nach dem Radiobetrieb stellen Sie den Schalter auf
RADIO oder BUZZER (Summer).
Hinweise
¢ Das Radio bzw. der Summer verstummt automatisch nach
etwa einer Stunde. ,
* Zum vorzeitigen Abschalten der Alarmfunktion stellen Sie
ALARM/POWER auf ® STANDBY. Die Anzeige ALARM 1
und ALARM 2 im Display erlischt dann.
REGLAGE DU REVEIL
La radio ou le signal sonore se fait entendre automatiquement
chaque jour a ’heure programmée._.
ll est possible de régler deux heures d’alarme différentes,
ALARM 1 et ALARM 2, ce qui fait fonctionner la minuterie
d’alarme deux fois par jour.
1 Réglez ALARM MODE sur 1 ou 2.
U’heure d’alarme ne peut pas étre posée quand ALARM
MODE est réglé sur 1 + 2.
2 Tout en maintenant ALARM enfoncé, appuyez sur UP
ou DOWN pour poser l’heure de |’alarme.
3 Réglez ALARM/POWER sur RADIO ou BUZZER.
Le voyant ALARM 1 ou 2 (@) s’allumera dans l’affichage.
A l'heure préréglée, la radio ou le signal sonore se fera entendre.
Pour arréter l’alarme lorsqu’elle se fait entendre, appuyez sur
SLEEP ALARM/OFF ou SNOOZE. Si vous appuyez sur SNOOZE, le
signal sonore se fera & nouveau entendre aprés 7 minutes environ.
Pour verifier l'heure de l’alarme
Réglez ALARM MODE sur 1 ou 2 et appuyez sur ALARM.
L’heure de lalarme s’affichera.
Pour changer I’heure de l’alarme
Réglez a nouveau !’heure de l’alarme.
Ecoute de la radio alors que l’alarme est réglée
Réglez ALARM/POWER sur ON. Aprés I’écoute, régler | le
commutateur sur RADIO ou BUZZER.
Remarques
¢ La radio ou le signal sonore s’arréte automatiquement apres
1 heure environ.
¢ Pour annuler l’alarme avant qu’elle se fasse entendre a l'heure
programmée, placez ALARM/POWER sur () STANDBY. Les
voyants ALARM 1 et ALARM 2 s’éteint dans l’affichage.

¢ You cannot set buzzer and radio alarms at the same time.

Zweimaliges tagliches Aktivieren des Alarms
1 Stellen Sie zwei Alarmzeiten (eine fur ALARM 1 und eine
weitere fir ALARM 2).ein, indem Sie die Schritte 1 und 2

2 Stellen Sie ALARM/POWER auf RADIO oder BUZZER

Hinweise zum Summerton
¢Die Summerténe von ALARM 1 und ALARM 2 sind
unterschiedlich.
e Die Lautstarke des Summertons kann nicht verandert
werden; der VOLUME-Regler hat keinen EinfluB auf die
Lautstarke des Summertons.

¢Wenn fir ALARM 1 und ALARM 2 dieselben Zeiten
eingestellt werden, arbeitet der Alarm-Timer nur einmal.

You can use the sleep timer to turn the radio off automatically
after up to 59 minutes.
¢ Before setting, tune in to a station. (See page 12.)

2 While holding down SLEEP, press UP or DOWN to set
the time to turn off the radio.

To use both the sleep timer and the alarm
You can fall asleep listening to the radio and still be awakened
SLEEP ALARM/OFF by the radio/buzzer alarm at a preset time.
1 Set the alarm timer referring to steps 1 - 3 on page 14.
2 While holding down SLEEP, press UP or DOWN to set the
sleep timer.

¢ Stimmen Sie auf einen Sender ab (siehe Seite 13), bevor Sie
die folgenden Schritte ausftihren.
1 Stellen Sie ALARM/POWER auf (> STANDBY.
2 Stellen Sie die Ausschalt-Zeitspanne ein, indem Sie
SLEEP gedriickt halten und gleichzeitig UP oder DOWN
driicken.
Zum Abschalten des Sleep-Timers, driicken Sie SLEEP
ALARM/OFF.
Gleichzeitige Verwendung von Sleep- und Alarm-Timer
Wenn Sie beim Einschlafen in der GewiBheit Radio héren
wollen, daB sich das Radio automatisch ausschaltet und Sie
zu einer bestimmten Zeit durch das Radio oder den Summer
geweckt werden, flhren Sie die folgenden Schritte aus.
1 Fdhren Sie die Schritte 1 bis 3 von Seite 15 aus, um den
Alarm-Timer einzustellen.
2 Halten Sie SLEEP gedrtickt und driicken Sie gleichzeitig UP
bzw. DOWN, um die Zeitspanne des Sleep-Timers
einzustellen.
Zum Uberpriifen der Restzeit des Sleep-Timers
Driicken Sie SLEEP. Die Restzeit bis zum Ausschalten
erscheint dann im Display.

Pour utiliser 4 fa fois la minuterie d’arrét différé et l’alarme
Vous pouvez vous endormir au son de la radio et vous faire
réveiller par la radio/signal sonore a Pheure programmeée.
1 Réglez la minuterie d’arrét différé aux étapes 1 — 3 de la
page 15.
2 En maintenant SLEEP enfoncé, appuyez sur UP ou DOWN
pour régler la minuterie d’arrét différé.
