Setup:
1. Plug the device into the computer via USB
2. Connect the RCA outputs 1,2 into RCA inputs 1,2
3. Connect the headphone output into RCA inputs 3,4
4. Open the AK40 Test application with the MaxMSP Runtime
5. Set the MIDI Input and Output devices to AMX
6. Set the AUDIO Device Driver to “ad_asio Akai Professional AMX
ASIO(64)”
7. Set Input to: Internal
8. Set Output to: On
9. You should not need to use the Advanced Audio Options button
Test Procedure:
1. Set both impedance selection switches to ‘line’
2. Press the ‘Test 1’ button under ‘RUN AUDIO TESTS’
a. If test passed, this button will turn green, if failed it will turn red.
3. Set both impedance selection switches to ‘phono’
4. Press the ‘Test 2’ button under ‘RUN AUDIO TESTS’
a. If test passed, this button will turn green, if failed it will turn red.
5. Press all the buttons on the device.
a. If test passed, the button on screen corresponding to the physical
button will turn green.
6. Move Encoder knobs (Left Gain, Right Gain, Browse) to the right and then
to the left. It is important that you move them in this order.
a. If test passed, the knob on screen corresponding to the physical
encoder will turn green.
7. Move all potentiometer knobs to the minimum and maximum position.

a. If test passed, the knob on screen corresponding to the physical
potentiometer will turn green.
8. Move all Sliders to the minimum and maximum position.
a. If test passed, the slider on screen corresponding to the physical
slider will turn green.
9. If all tests passed, you will be prompted to Scan the serial.
ATTN inMusic Warehouse and Inspectors:
DO NOT SCAN SERIAL, HIT CANCEL and press’ RESET Test
App’ and verify the serial number is still entered.
10.CM Should scan the serial number.
11.Verify Serial Scan box turns green.
12.Unplug the device.
13.Plug in a new device, follow the Test Setup instructions 1 - 3. You should
be able to ignore 4 – 9.
14.Press the ‘Reset Test’ (Or spacebar) to test with a new device.
