1. DESCRIPTION
1.1. The HAM3000C03
The HAM3000C03 is a audio processing module that embeds asynchronous audio in the
SDI video signal. The asynchronous audio channels can come from balanced digital audio
AES/EBU input pairs or from another asynchronous video SDI signal with respect to the
SDI signal program video; in order to embed them it is necessary to resynchronize,
performing a conversion of the sampling frequency. In addition, the device also works as
a deembedder, allowing access to any of the audio channels present at the inputs in the
analog audio and/or AES/EBU digital audio output interfaces.
The HAM3000C03 module provides a 3G/HD/SD-SDI program video input (PGM IN), an
auxiliary 3G/HD/SD-SDI video input (AUX IN), a 3G/HD/SD-SDI program video output
(OUT) with video information from the program input, a loop-through analog reference
input (SYNC-LOOP), two AES/EBU balanced digital audio input pairs (AES1 IN y AES2 IN),
two AES/EBU balanced digital audio pairs (AES1 OUT y AES2 OUT) and two analog audio
output pairs (ANALOG1L/R OUT y ANALOG2L/R OUT).
In addition to embedding, deembedding and sample rate conversion, the HAM3000C03
can reassign input signal audio channels to any of the output signal audio channels and
adjust the gain applied to each of them independently. It is also possible to implement a
delay of up to 10 s in each audio channel.
The HAM3000C03 module can operate as a frame synchronizer or delayer. The output
video signal OUT can be synchronized to either the analog reference input or to the
program video input signal.
It is possible to monitor the HAM3000C03 status remotely using a communications
controller module installed in the same mounting frame. In addition, certain controller
modules provide SNMP management and the ability to record events in a file including
date and time information for further analysis.
The HAM3000C03 is a TL3000 terminal line module and can be housed in a three rack
unit (3 RU) UR3000 mounting frame or a 1 RU UR3100 mounting frame.
The HAM3000 is a family of several audio processors. The variations within the family
are as follows:
• HAM3000C01: Modifier for audio embedded in 3G/HD/SD-SDI digital video.
•HAM3000C02: Modifier for audio embedded in 3G/HD/SD-SDI digital video with analog
audio inputs.
• HAM3000C03: Modifier for audio embedded in 3G/HD/SD-SDI digital video with analog

3. INSTALLATION
THE HAM3000C03 MODULE CONTAINS ELECTRONIC DEVICES SENSITIVE TO
ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE. Always use antistatic bags clearly identified
with a high degree of shielding for storage and transportation.
The HAM3000C03 module is composed of two parts: one HDE3000P25 main board and
one HDE3000P24 rear board. Both parts must be installed in a UR3000 or UR3100
mounting frame following the instructions in the corresponding section of this chapter.
3.1. Initial inspection
Verify that the package has been properly handled during transport. After opening the
packaging, check that one HDE3000P25 main board and one HDE3000P24 rear board are
inside.
You must notify your Albalá Ingenieros distributor or dealer of any damage or defects
observed.
Follow the instructions in this manual to install this module in the mounting frame.
3.2. Safety instructions
•This equipment must be connected to a mains outlet with a protective
earth connection. Never use extension cords that do not have protective
earthing connection. The lack of an effective electrical connection between
the ground pin in the mains input connector of the equipment and the
protective earth of the electrical power distribution can cause serious harm.
•All modules of the Albalá Ingenieros TL3000 terminal line can be
hot-plugged or unplugged without suffering any damage or affecting the
processes that are currently taking place in other modules in the same
mounting frame. When a module is installed in an empty bay of a mounting
frame, it is necessary to mount the rear board that is part of that module.
Prior to installing this board, the mounting frame must be disconnected
from the power supply network. This is required because in addition to the
risk of electrocution for the person handling the device it is possible that a
high instantaneous current coming from the power supply could damage
the connectors and components of the mounting frame and/or the rear
board.
13

Albalá Ingenieros | Manual HAM3000C03
•The HAM3000C03 module and the mounting frame should always be
installed, maintained, operated and removed by personnel with sufficient
technical qualifications. The equipment should never be placed in damp
areas, near splashing liquid, or in explosive or corrosive atmospheres.
Neither modules nor mounting frames can be used in applications that
could endanger human life.
3.3. Environmental considerations
This symbol indicates that this equipment must be deposited at a collection
point for proper waste treatment once it has reached the end of its useful
life.
3.4. Power considerations
A three unit UR3000 mounting frame cannot house more that 8 HAM3000C03 modules,
and they must be installed as far apart as possible to help with ventilation and heat
dissipation. Empty mounting frame bays can be used as long as the maximum power
supply capability is not exceeded. Please check the technical manuals of the installed
power supply and modules.
A single unit UR3100 mounting frame cannot house more that 3 HAM3000C03
modules, following the same criteria as the three unit mounting frame, and preferably
leaving the central bay empty.
The UR3000 mounting frame does not include forced ventilation, however heat
generated inside the rack cabinet where the frame is housed must be extracted.
Otherwise, the increase of internal temperature may cause module malfunction or even
damage.
3.5. Installing the module in the mounting frame
The steps needed to install the HAM3000C03 module with the rear board in the
mounting frame are:
1 - Disconnect all power cords from the power supplies of the mounting frame.
2 - Remove the blank panels covering the front and rear of the empty bays chosen for
installing the HAM3000C03 in the mounting frame.
3 - Install the HDE3000P24 rear board ensuring that its 12-pin connectors are properly
aligned with the mounting frame´s mating connectors. Check that the orientation of
the board is correct by looking at the placement of the text printed on it according to
the illustration below.
14

4 - Attach the rear board to the mounting frame with two M3 metric screws and tighten.
5 - Insert the HDE3000P25 board (main board of the HAM3000C03 module) into the
front of the mounting frame. The edges of the card slide into two plastic guides inside
the mounting frame.
6 - Affix the main board to the mounting frame using the two screws included on the
front panel.
After these steps, the module is ready to be connected to other equipment.

3.6. Interconnection
The following figure shows the HAM3000C03 module rear board connector layout.
Rear view of the HAM3000C03
The HAM3000C03 module provides two 3G/HD/SD-SDI digital video inputs (PGM-IN,
AUX-IN), two outputs (OUT1 OUT2) and a loop-through analog reference input (SYNC-IN,
SYNC-LOOP). It also has two AES/EBU balanced audio digital pair inputs (AES AUDIO IN),
two outputs (AES AUDIO OUT) and four analog audio outputs (ANALOG AUDIO 1,
ANALOG AUDIO 2).
The rear interconnection board is not designed to withstand mechanical stress. The
wiring must be fastened properly to the frame where the mounting frame is housed to
prevent the rear board from supporting the weight of the cables.

3.6.1. Electrical SDI video connections
All electrical SDI video connections are BNC type. The following suggestions should be
kept in mind when wiring the electrical signals.
BNC connectors used on cables must be suitable for the high frequencies of digital
video signals: it is strongly recommended to use high quality connectors from well
known manufacturers.
All coaxial cable used must be Belden 1694A or similar. This type provides the greatest
lengths because it is used to calculate the equalizers in the HAM3000C03. Cables
carrying signal between the module and the devices should use single piece
construction, avoiding spliced sections with double BNC female or barrel connectors.
If it is necessary to split the cable into two sections the same type of wire should be
used in both sections.
The use of analog video coaxial cables RG-59 type or similar is not recommended for
digital video except for very short distances.
3.6.2. Analog video connections
The reference analog video signal input uses two BNC connectors configured in
loop-through.
The analog video outputs use BNC connectors and have an impedance of 75Ω.
3.6.3. Digital audio connections
Digital audio inputs are balanced and use 3.81mm pitch terminal block connectors.
Digital audio outputs are balanced, use 3.81mm pitch terminal block connectors and
their characteristic impedance is 110Ω.
For digital audio connections 110Ω characteristic impedance, two-wire shielded cable
is preferred. The GND terminal allows connection of the cable shield.
3.6.4. Analog audio connections
The analog audio outputs are balanced, use 3.81mm pitch terminal block connectors
and their characteristic impedance is 73Ω.
For analog audio connections two-wire shielded cable is preferred. The GND terminal
allows connection of the cable shield.

The meaning of the indicators is described below:
19

Albalá Ingenieros | Manual HAM3000C03
In the REFERENCE box:
NO SIG.: Red. Lights up when no recognized format sync signal is present in
the analog reference input.
UNLOCK: Red. Lights up when the equipment could not synchronize with
the reference signal or when the reference signal is missing. If the
reference signal or the input video signals are changed, it may
take a few seconds to re-synchronize. When the HAM3000C03
works in delayer mode, the digital video input is the reference,
hence these two indicators do not apply.
1.5G: Green. Detected format of the reference is HD-SDI at 1.5Gbit/s.
3G: Green. Detected format of the reference is HD-SDI at 3Gbit/s.
INTER.: Green. Detected format of the reference is interlaced. If this LED is
lit and both 1.5G and the 3G LEDs remain off, the format is
SD-SDI.
PROGR.: Green. Detected format of the reference is progressive.
In the PGM. SDI IN / AUX. SDI IN boxes:
NO SIG.: Red. Lights up when no valid video signal is present at the SDI
input. Blinks when the input signal has EDH/CRC errors.
