Albalá Ingenieros | Manual TTD2000C01
1. DESCRIPTION
1.1. The TTD2000C01
The TTD2000C01 is a distributor module for analog or digital signals transmitted over
coaxial cabling. The module can operate autonomously or in tandem with other
modules installed in the same mounting frame.
When operating autonomously, the module acts as a distributor from one input to four
outputs. In this case the user can select whether the module operates as a linear
amplifier or as a comparator with TTL level output drivers.
When operating as a linear amplifier, the wide bandwidth and high dynamic range make
the TTD2000C01 appropriate for distribution of 10MHz reference signals. When
operating as a comparator the module can be used for re-clocking of digital signals such
as 1 PPS or Word clock.
When operating in a mounting frame that contains a GPS2000C01, the TTD2000C01 can
be used to increase the number of 1 PPS or 10MHz outputs using the redundant signals
that the GPS2000C01 delivers to the bus of the mounting frame. In such cases, each
TTD2000C01 installed in the frame provides five outputs that can be: all 1 PPS, all
10MHz or two of one type and three of the other as desired.
The input impedance and output impedances are configurable as 50 or 75Ω.
It is possible to monitor the TTD2000C01 status remotely using a communications
controller module installed in the same mounting frame. In addition, certain controller
modules provide SNMP management and the ability to record events in a file including
date and time information for further analysis.
The TTD2000C01 is a TL2000 terminal line module and can be housed in a two rack unit
(2 RU) UR2000 mounting frame.

3.5. Interconnection
The arrangement of the front panel connectors of the TTD2000C01 module is shown in
the following figure.
Front panel of the TTD2000C01
The TTD2000C01 provides five BNC connectors. Four of these (OUT1,OUT2,OUT3 and
OUT4) are always used as outputs. The fifth (OUT5/IN) can be an input or an output
depending upon the module's configuration.
During autonomous operation connector (OUT5/IN) is the input and the other four
connectors (OUT1,OUT2,OUT3 and OUT4) are used as four outputs that distribute the
signal from the input.
During operation as an auxiliary module for increasing the number of 1 PPS or 10MHz
outputs from a GPS2000C01 module the usage of the outputs is selectable. In this mode
the device has two sections: one formed by outputs OUT1 and OUT2, the other formed
by outputs OUT3,OUT4 and OUT5. The type of signal sent from each section is
user-configurable.
Signal connections to the module should be made with 50 or 75Ω coaxial cabling
depending upon the requirements of the installation. The impedance for the input and
outputs should be configured using the control software. The TTD2000C01 comes from
the factory programmed with input and output impedances of 50Ω.
The front panel has not been designed to support mechanical stress. All cabling in the
rack where the mounting frame is located should be properly supported so that the front
panel does not provide mechanical support.

OUT 1.2,
OUT 3.4.5: This LED lights up only when the TTD2000C01 acts as an auxiliary module
for distribution of the reference signals in the bus of a mounting frame.
1PPS. Blue, blinking. Indicates that a one pulse-per-second signal has been
detected on the TTL line of the bus and that this signal is being delivered to
that output.
48kHz. Green. Indicates that a 48kHz signal has been detected on the TTL
line of bus and that the signal is being delivered to that output.
OTHER. Yellow. Indicates that a signal of a different frequency has been
detected on the TTL line of bus and that the signal is being delivered to that
output.
10MHz. Cyan. Indicates that a 10MHz signal has been detected on the TTL
line of bus and that the signal is being delivered to that output.
FAIL. Red. Indicates that the signal selected for delivery to the corresponding
output is not present in the bus.
4.2. Functional description
The TTD2000C01 is a distributor module for analog or digital signals transmitted over
coaxial cabling. The module has been designed to distribute a wide range of signals and
also to increase the number of 1 PPS or 10MHz outputs for GPS2000C01 modules.
All configuration of this device is performed via the control software; therefore in order
to make any changes the mounting frame in which the module is installed must also
have a TL2000 family communications controller installed.
When the module acts as an autonomous distributor, the input signal comes in using
the OUT/5/IN connector and the other four connectors, (OUT1 to OUT4) distribute this
signal. In this mode the IN LED indicates the type of signal detected at the input and the
OUT 1, 2 and OUT 3, 4, 5 LEDs remain off.
In autonomous mode the TTD2000C01 can be configured to operate as a linear amplifier
or as a comparator with TTL output drivers. In the first case the signal delivered to the
outputs is a replica of the signal at the input, whereas in the second case the amplitude
of the input signal is compared to the VIHmin and VILmax TTL thresholds and a signal with a
guaranteed output of VOHmin y VOLmax is delivered to the outputs.
When the TTD2000C01 is used to increase the number of outputs for GPS2000C01
modules installed in the same mounting frame the five connectors of the TTD2000C01
deliver signals grouped in two sections. One is formed by connectors OUT1 and OUT2
and the other by connectors OUT3,OUT4 and OUT5. The two sections can be configured
independently to delivers 1 PPS or 10MHz signals. The OUT 1, 2 and OUT 3, 4, 5 LEDs
indicate the type of signal being distributed and the IN LED remains off. Other modules
exist that deliver other signal types to the mounting frame bus and these can also be
distributed by the TTD2000C01. For example, the IMB2000C01 provides 48kHz over the
same line that the GPS2000C01 uses for 1 PPS signals.
16

Albalá Ingenieros | Manual TTD2000C01
The impedance of the input and the outputs of the module can be set to 50 or 75Ω in
order to adapt to the type of signal being distributed.

4.3. Module remote control and supervision
The TTD2000C01 can optionally be remotely controlled/supervised.
In order to perform remote configuration and supervision of the module an optional
TL2000 family remote communications controller must be installed in the mounting
frame.
The main function of the communications control module is to interface between a
10/100 Ethernet port and the internal bus of the mounting frame. The following
illustration shows the most common control situations: from a computer or control
panel via Ethernet.
Certain communications control modules provide additional, more advanced functions
such as an SNMP agent, logging of status changes of the modules and a Web interface
for remote control, etc.
Software for simple configuration and supervision with a GUI for multiple modules can
be downloaded from the Albalá Ingenieros website.
18

Albalá Ingenieros | Manual TTD2000C01
The following functions of the TTD2000C01 can be performed remotely:
- Supervision of the presence and type of signals being distributed by the TTD2000C01.
-Configuration of the operating mode and impedance of both the input and the
outputs.
4.3.1. Details of the TTD2000C01 registers
The TTD2000C01 module provides control and status registers that can be read and
written by means of specific commands described in the communication control
module user manuals.
The parameter information grouped in the CONTROL or RAM sections is stored in
volatile memory. Any modifications to the parameters will be lost when the module
power supply is disconnected unless the "EEPROM Save" button within the software
has been pressed.
The STATUS section parameters are read-only and cannot be modified.
The parameters that can be controlled and supervised remotely for each version of
the firmware are listed below:
