Functional Testing
To perform a complete service check of the Ultravision generator you will need the following equipment:
• A fully-charged Ultravision battery
• A digital voltmeter with leads and crocodile clips
• A sheet of metal foil approximately 0.5m x 0.5m in size
• An Ultravision Output Verication Unit (available from your local Alesi distributor)
Perform the following tests in sequence. If any of the tests do not lead to the required result, then consult the next section
“Repair actions”.
ITEM FUNCTION TEST REQUIRED RESULT
1 Enclosure
integrity
Inspect outer casework of generator for any
cracks, holes or damage.
No visible damage to casework. Outer
plastic enclosure not compromised.
2Check all 5 rubber feet tted to underside of
generator.
All ve rubber feet securely tted to base of
generator.
3Inspect Calibration label at rear of generator. Calibration label intact across split between
base and lid of generator.
4 Battery
mechanism
Push charged battery into Ultravision battery
bay ensuring that the battery is the correct
way up in accordance with the battery label.
Battery bay should click to engage and hold
battery in place.
5 Interface controls Power on generator using On/ Off switch. On/ Off switch clicks into ON position.
6Simultaneously listen to sound produced by
generator on start-up. If necessary, cycle the
On/Off switch until the start-up sound has
been assessed.
Generator produces three rising tones.
7Simultaneously observe fault light. If
necessary, cycle the On/Off switch until the
fault light state has been assessed.
Must illuminate red transiently.
8Inspect power LED adjacent to On/ Off
switch.
Power LED should be illuminated green.
9Inspect battery meter LED. Battery meter LED should be illuminated
green or amber. Red indicates that the
battery being used does not have sufcient
power and should be replaced with a fully-
charged battery before repeating this test
and continuing with steps below.
10 I/O sockets Connect output verication unit to the active
(Ionwand) and return sockets on front on
generator.
Conrm that a good connection is made –
no loose plugs.
11 Output current
calibration
With the output verication unit jumper lead
at the front of the device disconnected, listen
to the sound produced by the generator.
The generator does not sound the proximity
alarm.
12 Proximity alarm Connect output verication unit jumper cable. The generator now sounds the proximity
alarm (repeating pattern of 300ms tone
followed by 6 second pause).
13 Volume control While the proximity alarm is still sounding,
turn the volume control at the rear of the
generator.
Conrm that the volume control rotates and
causes the output volume of the generator
to increase and decrease.
14 Battery release
mechanism
Switch off the generator by means of the
On/Off switch and push the tab next to the
battery slot on the right hand side of the
generator
Battery should eject from generator.
15 END OF TEST Disconnect the output verication unit from
the generator sockets.
If all of the above test steps have produced
the required result then the generator may
be returned to service.
