GSM900 (2G) Booster Kit 11/2010

I. GSM900 (2G) Signal Booster
This Signal Booster Kit, developed for GSM900 (2G), serves the purpose to boost GSM900
signal and improve the reception in weak signal area. More power signal strength means
better voice quality and faster data transfer speed. This Kit is suitable for a room of 142-213
square feet (13.2- 19.8 m2). As the signal is boosted on a small margin, there is no need to
worry about signal interference with other systems.
It can be used in the following situations:
1. Indoor 2G Wireless Internet Connection
For GSM900, indoor 2G signal coverage is usually insufficient. The installation of this Kit
can help improve signaling while increasing data transfer speed.
2. Deep Inside Office Buildings
Most office buildings contain thick concrete walls that may weaken signals when they
penetrate the walls. This Kit can boost signaling.
II. Description of Components
1. PA400 Receiver/Transmitter Antenna
This directional antenna is a high-performance linear-polarized antenna. Its main function is
to transmit and receive radio signal. It can be installed outdoors or beside a window, with
the antenna standing perpendicular to the ground and facing the base station (signal
source). The metal hook can be used to mount the antenna onto a wall or place it on a flat
surface.
2. PA300 Receiver/Transmitter Antenna
This omni-directional antenna is a high-performance linear-polarized antenna. Its main
function is to transmit and receive radio signal. It should be attached to the AMPC1 booster
and placed near the receivers (mobile phone, 2G network card).

3. Main unit ofAMPC1
The GSM900 signal booster can boost dual-link signal by 40dB and uses avoltage of
5-12V. It also has a power indicator to show if the power supply is working normally and a
signal strength indicator of the 2G signals. The metal hook supplied with the main unit can
be used to mount the unit onto the wall or place it on a flat surface.

4. Adapter The power adapter for the booster needs an input voltage of 100 - 240V and an
output voltage of 5V (with Mini USB connector)
Adapter RF cable(RG174) USB switch cable
5. RF cable This 5-meter RF cable is used to connect PA400 and AMPC1.
6. USB switch cable This USB cable is used to connect AMPC1 and computer without
power adapter. (USB voltage is 5V)
III. Installation Procedures and Caution
1. Assembly
First, connect AMPC1 to PA400 (using the RF cable) and PA300, and make sure the Mini
USB connector is connected to supply power to the unit. Refer to the picture below.

2. PA400Antenna Installation and Mounting
In a situation where the direction of the base station is known, face to the base station. If
not so, please refer to the status of the signal strength indicator and turn towards where the
signal is stronger. The PA400 can be placed on a table or mounted onto a wall using the
metal hook attached with fastening bracket. Please note that signal strength indicator can
only show the direction of the source of the strongest 2G signal without being able to
distinguish which one of the Telecommunications service providers sends the strongest
signal. APMC1 and PA400 must be set apart from each other at a distance of 1 meter or
above with the PA400 put back against AMPC1 to avoid signal interference.
3. AMPC1+PA300 Main Unit Installation and Mounting
The main unit can be placed nearby the user's 2G mobile phone or network card. The main
unit can be placed on a table or mounted onto a piece of glass or a wall using the metal
hook attached with a double-coated tape. Please note that the signal coverage of the main
unit is not fixed; it varies directly with the signal strength the PA400 receives from the base
station.

IV. Post-Installation Examination and Troubleshooting
Check by following the steps below after the installation:
1. Check if there is GSM900 (2G) signal from outside, and if the outdoor antenna's signal is
stable. The outdoor antenna must face either the base station or the signal source. If the
received signal is still weak after the installation, try to adjust the antenna angle of PA400
and check if the indicator of the AMPC1 works normally.
2. If the strength of the received signal is constant, it means this Kit is functioning properly. A
weak signal means insufficient or saturated AMPC1 that requires some adjustment by
increasing or decreasing the AMPC1. In a situation where the 80% of the indoor signal can
be received, the increase of this Kit will not boost the signal obviously. It will even cause
interference and/or decrease the signal quality. In a situation where only 20% of the indoor
signal is received, a tremendous improvement of signaling quality can be expected by
using this Kit .
