Installation Instructions
When installing a thermostatic radiator valve the following
aspects must be considered to ensure that the valve
performs to its optimum level.
1. The valve should be in a position where it is in contact
with free air circulation within the area and is not
subject to draughts as this will effect the valve’s
performance.
2. The valve must not be installed in a position where
the head is likely to be damaged or where the valve
is subject to excessive heat, either at time of
installation or in operating conditions.
3. Ensure that the system is clean and free from debris
and the installation is in accordance with good
plumbing practices.
4. An automatic differential bypass valve MUST be fitted
in conjunction with any TRV installations.

Where do I fit
The straight ECOCAL ® valve is specifically designed
for installation on the flow pipe only. The straight
lockshield valve is specifically designed for installation
on the return pipe only.

Connecting to Radiator
•Using a suitable sealing method and the correct sized
spanner on the shoulder of the tail piece, rotate the
1⁄2" BSP tail piece in a clockwise direction into the
tapping on the radiator.
Copper Tube Connections for Ecocal
• The compression jointing method is for use with copper
tube to BS EN 10 7 only grade 10 7 grade R2 0
(Half Hard) (Max Pressure 3 Bar & 90 Deg C).
•After preparing the
connecting copper tube
and ensuring that it is free
from any burrs or debris, fit
the tube into the body of
the valve to a depth of
10mm.
•
Using a suitably sized
spanner, tighten the
compression joint until water
tight joint is achieved.

How do I fi the head?
•With the TRV valve body installed on the radiator, align
the head over the valve body with the indicator point at
setting V. Ensure that the TRV head is square to the
body, screw the
TRV head onto
the body in a
clockwise
direction until
tight, being
careful not to
over – tighten
the head on the
body.

Temperature Settings
The ECOCAL ® has the following approximate settings:
Operational Features
•Rotate the head clockwise and anti-clockwise
between the range of Oand Vas required.
•Ec n my Setting: With the design of the ECOCAL ®
the valve can be set to limit the adjustment range
between Oand the required higher setting.
With the indicator pointer and the reset mark facing
towards you, slide the locking mechanism down
until the two marks are separated. Rotate the
locking mechanism anti-clockwise using the mark
as the guide to the desired maximum setting, push

the locking mechanism up against the head until
it locks into place. The valve can now only be
adjusted between Oand the desired position.
•To remove the setting limit, simply lower the
mechanism again and rotate until the reset marks
are aligned and move upwards back into position.
The valve can now be adjusted through its full
setting range.

•Tamper Setting: The head can be set to a single,
non-adjustable position. Lower the locking mechanism
as described previously and rotate the head until the
indicator is pointing to the desired setting. Rotate the
locking mechanism reset mark anti-clockwise to the
desired setting and push the locking mechanism up
against the head until it locks into position.
To remove the setting limit, simply lower the
mechanism again and rotate until the reset marks
are aligned and move upwards back into position.
The valve can now be adjusted through its full
setting range.

•Fr st Setting: The ECOCAL ® has within its
temperature range a frost setting. Rotate the valve
head to the ❄indicator. Once set at the ❄position
the thermostatic head will react when the ambient
temperature drops to 7ºC.
•0 P siti n: In 0 position the thermostatic head will
react when the ambient temperature drops to °C.

Cleaning the Valve Head
Technical Specification
•Conforms to the requirements of BS EN 21
•Max working pressure: 10 bar
•Max pressure differential: 0.3 bar
•Max water temperature: 100ºC
•Max ambient temperature: 0ºC
•Temperature adjustment range: 7 to 28ºC
•Frost setting: 7ºC

The thermostatic head can be cleaned using a mild
soap solution. DO NOT USE ABRASIVE PAD,
BLEACHING AGENTS OR SOLVENTS etc as they will
cause damage to the valve head.
Please ensure that these instructions and the manual cap
are left with the valve after installation.
