GENERAL
IIntroduction
This m nu l is solely intended to be used in conjunction with
folding nd rolling tower configur tions, herein fter c lled the
tower, s described in this ssembly nd use m nu l,
herein fter referred to s the m nu l.
Prior to st rting ssembly of the tower, you should c refully
re d this m nu l. The tower th t is required should be
ssembled nd used in ccord nce with this m nu l.
All instructions in this m nu l h ve to be strictly dhered to.
If the instructions cont ined in this m nu l re not followed,
ccidents m y rise. Altrex c nnot be held li ble for ny loss
resulting from the ssembly or use of n Altrex tower th t is
not in compli nce with the m nu l.
The employer, supervisor nd user re responsible for the
correct use of the tower in ccord nce with this m nu l nd
they must ensure th t this m nu l is v il ble t ll times
when work is being c rried out using the tower.
II General
For the st nd rd rolling tower configur tions we refer you to
the configur tions t ble included in this m nu l.
Towers m y only be ssembled, dis ssembled or modified
under the direction of n uthorised person nd by
employees who h ve received dequ te nd specific tr ining
for the intended work, in terms of the specific risks involved
which, in p rticul r, ddresses
underst nding the ssembly, dis ssembly or conversion
pl n of the tower in question;
s fely ssembling, dis ssembling or converting the tower
in question;
me sures in order to void the risks to individu ls or
objects;
s fety me sures in the event of ch nging we ther
conditions which could ffect the s fety of the towers in
question;
the llow ble lo d;
every other risk th t could rise s result of the
forementioned ssembly nd dis ssembly or conversion
work.
The individu ls responsible for the work nd the employees
involved in the work must h ve ccess to copy of this
m nu l.
Only origin l Altrex p rts should be used for ssembly.
The height to the first rung must be m ximum of 40 cm. If
the height is more th n 40 cm stirrup h s to be tt ched or
pl tform on the first rung.
The st nd rd Altrex tower configur tions meet the Europe n
St nd rd EN1004, lo d cl ss 3 (for strength nd st bility) nd
EN1298 (for M nu ls).
Loc l l w nd legisl tion might encomp ss me sures in
ddition to those st ted in this m nu l.
If possible, nd if it c n be chieved s fely, for ddition l
person l s fety, individu ls working on the ssembly should
secure themselves to the extern l w ll. Individu ls should not
secure themselves to the tower itself, unless the tower is
nchored to the w ll.
II.I Use
The Altrex 4000 tower is suit ble for working t heights.

The m ximum lo d on the tower ( s whole) is 750 kg.
Horizont l lo ds exceeding 30 kg resulting from the work
to be c rried out from the tower re not permitted. In the
event of signific nt forces, the tower should be nchored
to the w ll.
The tower m y only be used on horizont l, fl t nd solid
surf ces.
The tower m y not be used t wind speeds exceeding 14
m/s (m x. 6 Be ufort).
The tower m y not be used in the event of storm, snow,
ice, he vy r inf ll or lightning.
Hoisting or suspending the tower is not permitted.
The tower m y not be used in order to g in ccess to
other constructions.
The st nd rd configur tions re not c lcul ted on the use
of t rp ulins nd/or dvertising bo rds.
A tower should not be ble to slide w y or to m ke
movements th t re not intended.
II.II Additional instructions when using
towers
When working with towers, s fety shoes, working gloves
nd s fety helmet should be worn.
Never scend the tower on the outside nd never st nd
on the br ces.
Never r ise the height of the work pl tform through the
use of st irs, cr tes, etc. figure 1.
The b se dimensions of the pl tforms m y not be
incre sed in ny w y.
The use of hoisting ge r on or for the tower is not
permitted, figure 2; this c n seriously ffect the st bility.
Towering p rts nd tools m y only be brought up (to the
work floor) m nu lly, by using bucket nd rope for
ex mple.
If the tower is to be pl ced on soft surf ce, ground
protection pl tes or U-profiles should be pl ced
underne th the wheels, figure 3.
P rticul r ttention should be p id to the wind lo d in
re s th t re ffected by the wind, for ex mple, open
constructions nd t the corners of building. In the
event of wind force in excess of 14 m/s (m x. 6
Be ufort), plus t the end of the working d y, the rolling
tower must be moved to wind-free pl ce, figure 4.
No ddition l work pl tforms or other objects m y be
tt ched to the outside of the st nd rd tower.
St ges m y not be mounted between the tower nd
building.
The tower must not be out of the perpendicul r in excess
of 1%. Therefore, t height of 4 meters, the devi tion
m y not exceed 4 cm.

will help to ensure s fe working on the tower.
