Application area
The ALUEX5 lift spreader is designed to help with lifting objects. The purpose of the lift spreader is to spread the
lifting straps away from the object. The lift spreader is adjustable, enabling lifting to be made as safe as possible. Read
and follow the instructions for use so that the lift spreader is used without risk. Give a copy of these instructions for
use to all ALUEX users.
The lift spreader must not be used for any lifting for which it is not designed.
The maximum permitted lifting angle for the lift spreader is max 30° (see Figure 1).
Undue strain must not be placed on the lift spreader (see figure 2 and figure 10).
Always check that the arms of the lift spreader can move freely (see figure 3).
The maximum lifting weight is 5 000 kg with 30° angle.
Figure 2: The lift spreader may only be loaded inward
Figure 1:The lifting straps must be of the same length.
The maximum lifting angle for the lift spreader is 30°.
Figure 3: The arms of the lift spreader must be able to
move freely. The maximum opening angle for the lift
spreader is 120°.
The packaging contains these items (see Figure 4):
•Frame section
•4 x end brackets
•4 x guide pins
•4 x links for lifting with chains

Commissioning
Before commissioning, the user must check that all the parts of the lift spreader are present. All parts
should be checked to ensure that they are not damaged. If defects are discovered during commissioning, the
lift spreader must be returned to the dealer. Commissioning must take place as directed in the instructions
for use. The lift spreader must be assembled as shown in Figure 5.
Figure 5:Lift spreader assembled
The lift spreader can be used outdoors. The lift spreader must be used at temperatures between -35 °C and
50 °C. The lift spreader is able to withstand moisture, but it must be dried and cleaned after use and before
storage.
Use
The lift spreader is adjusted to the correct length prior to use. All adjusting beams must always be set to the same
length when used (see Figure 6). The length of the spreader must always be adjusted using the guide pins. The
fastening of the pins must always be checked prior to use. The correct length is always the same length as or
shorter than the width of the object max 6° angle (see Figure 7). The lifting straps are attached to the attachment
points at the ends of the spreader.
When lifting using chains, hooks and suchlike must not touch the lift spreader itself. (see figure 8)
Use the enclosed link (part 4 in Figure 4) when lifting with chains (see Figure 8).
The lift spreader must only be used within its lifting range and at an appropriate temperature. The lift spreader
cannot guarantee the correct type of lifting situation, or that the lifting line will not break.
Under no circumstances must the lift spreader be used in a manner not specified in the instructions for use.
Attachment at any location other than the attachment points is strictly prohibited! (See Figure 9)
The lift spreader may be used for a maximum of 16,000 load cycles
The lifting spreader must not be exposed to foreign objects such as acids, chemicals, etc
Protective gloves must be worn when handling the spreader

The lift spreader must not be used under the hazardous circumstances, e.g. in strong winds (the load
may sway). The lift spreader must not be used to lift people. When lifting loads, it is necessary to check
first that there is nobody beneath or in the vicinity of the load. The lift spreader may only
be used for lifting for which it designed. The centre of gravity of the load must be located
centrally beneath the lift spreader (see Figure 11).
Figure 10:The points where the lifting
straps leave the load must form a rectangle
Figure 11:The centre of gravity of the load must be
located centrally beneath the lift spreader
Users of the lift spreader must be aware of the purposes for which it can be used. No special training is
needed to use it, but the user should be aware of the lifting process before using it. The user must read the
instructions for use before using the lift spreader. The user must check the condition of the lift spreader
prior to use.
Handling and storage
The lift spreader must be stored indoors and protected against moisture and weather. The lift spreader must
be secured while in storage so that there are no residual tensions in the lift spreader’s attachment points.
The device must be stored in the maximum folded position. The lift spreader must be dried and cleaned
prior to storage.
Maintenance and inspection
The condition of the lift spreader must always be checked prior to use. The attachment points of the lift
spreader must be replaced if they are damaged or clearly worn. The lift spreader must be inspected once a
year. All brackets and the general condition of the product must be reviewed in this case. The lift spreader
must be opened for inspection, and all guide pins must be checked individually. The product must be
taken out of service if it is damaged. The guide pins must be replaced if they are damaged. Only
original spare parts are approved
Maximum lateral clearance is 15mm on the extension
The annual inspection must be noted in the inspection log.
